sportsjock said: "I think you hit on the dark underside of using the Covid situation as a tool to improve a teams positioning. There remains a possibility, Maryland may have done that very thing, by avoiding what, most likely was a loss, by using their Covid reports to their best advantage. Could they have played, minus the couple athletes that tested positive and a full team getting the negative testing required? I'm guessing, if they had the will, it could have happened. Could Indiana avoid playing a team that they are heavy underdogs and instantly enhance their post season standings in the Big Ten and post season bowl assignment? Kinda makes one a bit nervous, if you are Ohio State, because every team on their schedule could potentially, opt out and avoid the loss. All it would take, is one false positive and a little manipulation of the facts as they were."
I honestly can see this happening, Unfortunately, it seems that it's every man for himself in the world, including college football. Let;s hope their is some integrity left in the game.

That would coincide with the kind year we are having. Everyone try to dodge the buckeyes because they know its a big "L." I would hope to think even if the buckeyes some how beyond what is or maybe possible the buckeyes would get picked to be in the playoffs. I'm sorry but there is not one team in the top ten that is comparable to the buckeyes other than Bama, Clemson and maybe ND.

On the bright side we get 2 weeks to prepare for Indiana and we don't needlessly risk injury to our key players against a cupcake opponent.

The Ohio State/Maryland game cancellation is certainly not good news for Indiana. The Buckeyes have two weeks to prepare for Indiana, while the Hoosiers focus is on MSU. What If Indian says they found enough cases to cancel the Ohio State game? They both win out and Indiana has one more win than Ohio State. It then goes to criteria, which is record of teams beaten in cross division games. Ohio State has games with Nebraska and Illinois. Indiana plays Wisconsin and Purdue. Check the probable records. It will not matter who is obviously the superior team If the BIG has no playoff representative then I think the BIG lose about $6 million. I think the BIG splits that money among the schools (not sure about this). Indiana might be better off financially if they play the Buckeyes. If they win, then they might get a playoff invite. If they lose then the Bucks might. If the game is canceled then the BIG has a greater chance of being out of the playoffs. Unless possibly NW is invited. If NW runs the table they would have Wisconsin and Indiana as their quality wins. I assume Wisconsin won't play enough games to be invited if they win out. There are only 4 games left in the regular season.

Quinn Ewers just committed to Ohio State. Most expected this when he decommitted from Texas, but still a huge addition! Most consider him the #1 player in the 2022 class.

This committment is going to prove to be a major impetus for the countries top receivers to put on a Buckeye uniform. I think this, in all probability, locks in 5* Emeka Egbuka and greatly enhances the chances of several 5* receivers in the 2022 class, that are presently considering the Buckeyes.

Ewers will be the second highest rated recruit to ever come to Ohio State, only behind Terrelle Pryor. Justin Fields would be actually higher as well if he was considered an OSU recruit.
This may also help solidify Caleb Burton coming here, he’s one of the top WR’s in the 2022 class, also from Texas.

This also guarantees Ryan Day will be at Ohio State for a long time. No way he leaves when he’s got this type of QB coming in, plus all these other top recruits.

I don’t think this concrete until Texas figures out what they are going to do with the head coach. Ewers is a Longhorn fan. Really only one hire that changes his mind back to Texas though

The fix was already in on that guarantee. Earlier this week Ryan Day said that Ohio State was THE best job in the country, NFL or College.

Really only one hire that changes his mind back to Texas though Ewers is a HUGE deal, as he realizes what the best QB in the country can bring to a program. As today's players realize that BY FAR the most important position in football these days is the QB. He plans to help recruit players still not committed in the 2021 class as well as his 2022 class.

As of today I feel Shaun Wade should have just sat out. His game play is hot cabbage water.

I’d be interested in seeing some other safeties get a shot, Marcus Hooker has also been really bad this whole season. Lots of bad reads and consistently out of position.

The coaches need to figure it out on defense. I don't see any 1st rounders out there in the defensive backfield at present. I'm wondering if scheme adjustments are needed. Something to bring more pressure for sure.

Something to bring more pressure for sure. We are very green at CB and DB this year. Most of our CB's are Freshmen, redshirt Freshmen and a couple of Sophomores. Talented, but so inexperienced. I would like to see them move Wade back to his safety position, where he was recognized as among the nation's best at his position last year. Have him play to his strengths, instead of playing him out of position. Losing Cameron Brown was more devastating than originally thought. Forget the ton of yardage given up in the passing game. Into the 3rd qtr. this defense was doing their job and only allowed one TD on Indiana's side of the scoreboard. We were up 35-7 and in total control of this football game. Our defense was on the field, way too often, the latter portion of the game, because our coaching staff decided to take the air out of ball and go exclusively to the running game, which translated into 3 downs and punt, giving Indiana the opportunity for their remarkable comeback. Suddenly, our offensive attack, lost all semblace of pass/run balance and Indiana was able to pack the line of scrimmage, daring us to flip the qucik passes or screens, even though their was tons of realestate, vacated by LB's blitzing. If we would have stayed on the attack offensively, instead of transforming into running the clock conservatism, the game would have been lopsided at the end. Tressel ball reared it's ugly head, late in this game. Not something we expected out of Ryan Day. This game was baptism by fire, for this young and inexperienced secondary. Game by game, they are getting on the job training and will continue to improve.

Agree. Dont understand why we dont just keep the foot down and then let the other team up after the game and shake hands.

Ohio State just got a commitment from the #1 WR for the 2022 class, Caleb Burton. That makes 5 total 5 stars they currently have for that class. OSU’s WR room is just insane.

The offense in a few years could potentially have McCord/Stroud/Ewers at qb, Henderson/Pryor at rb, and Fleming/Burton/Smith-Njigba/Scott at wr. Unreal.

Meanwhile, in Ann Arbor.......

Pretty sure Marcus Williamson is occupying Wades spot at Slot Corner and Wade & Banks the outside corners. Proctor was graded 'Champion', for his play vs. Indiana.
