i agree with you ghs 1999 about the starting pitching and as hand as a closer but i feel its the middle relievers that will decide the feat of the tribe, plus take the leash off bieber and let him try for 9 innings.he is dominant and i feel he could go all the way but we need to score runs tired of the 2-1 and 1-0 losses.if we had the hitting with the pitching we would have a few game lead in the al central.but the white sox are hanging in there, they did a lot in the off season and is now paying off.the white sox is first in team batting .266 in mlb where the tribe is 25th at .227.the white sox are also 6th in mlb era with 3.69 the tribe second at 2.81,the dodgers lead at 2.77 and is probably the most complete team with depth in baseball.you can compare the tribe with oakland who is third in era 3.51 behind dodgers and the tribe. the a's are 26th in batting at .227 but the a's score more runs and power than the tribe.lets hope the indians dont shutdown after scoring runs last night against kc.the last blowout before kc the next day the tribe bats went quiet.letskeep rolling the bats out.they dont play the white sox agin till the 21th-24th at home.one other thing is the yankees has destroyed boston this season but cant touch tampa bay.tampa i believe has won 7 and lost 1 to the yankees which is great and have a 3-4 game lead on the yankees.great.i like to see the rays take the AL east over the injury riddled yankees.how sweet it is!!!

well the timing of the trade was bad where the tribe is in a race with minnesota and white sox and by getting rid of clevinger you just helped the white sox chances of taking the indians out of wild card.and with the players not household names and nothing with hitting abilities or power known it might be quanity but not yet quality.i would of keep clevinger and most time good pitching beats good hitting.but they panicked since clevinger is under contract until 2022.so will they make it without clevinger. i dont think so because the tribehas not proved they can going on a good hitting spell thus putting pressure on the pitchers to hold up and eventually when the hitting dont come, then the pictures will have a let down because of no hitting support. The Indians helped themselves without spending money they don't have. Plesac at 25 is better than Clevinger at 29. Plesac won't lead other young pitchers astray as Clevinger did to Plesac. Naylor is at least the equal of Santana now and younger. That bodes well for the future. The Indians can not afford to pay for "quality" in trades. Their strategy is trading "quality" players they can't afford to pay, in exchange for 6 cheap young players with potential hoping one of the six will become a "quality" player they can use until they can't afford his salary, then trade him. THAT and develop with their minor league system. They've figured out how to do that with young pitching, they need to do the same with power hitters. If you are truly a knowledgeable tribe fan you know how this works, that's why the Indians have been in the hunt the past 25 years.

the Tribe is one of the 4-5 best run organizations in MLB, they know what they are doing if you look at the guys the Tribe has success in developing, they target SPs who have strong control believing they can teach velocity and spin, and they have had success with these guys, Kluber-Clev-Plesac-Civale-Bieber...Quantrill fits this description to a T, so does Cantillo they also like middle infielders with short levers like J-Ram-Rocchio-Freeman and their farm system is LITTERED with these types of kids, Owen Miller is just another, when we get rid of Lindor it is almost certain that our next starting MLB SS is already in the system...Arias is more of a high ceiling guy who has a chance to be a star even though I can't say they are better today without Clevinger, this was a pretty productive trade especially since they wanted to get rid of Clevinger to begin with...ala Bauer last season Great read on the guys we got from SD here: blogs.fangraphs.com/scouting-clevelands-prospect-additions-from-the-clevinger-deal/There is not another team in MLB that develops starting pitchers as well as we do.

What amazes me is the fact the Tribe now for 2 consecutive seasons has dumped salary at the deadline and aren’t worse off for it. Even more amazing is that they’ve traded 3 quality starting pitchers in just over a year and their starting rotation is still the best in the league.

The 8 game losing streak is finally over. What it did was knock the Tribe out of the division race and pretty much guarantee that the only reason we're going to make the playoffs this year is because of the expanded format. On that note, the magic number to clinch a playoff spot is down to 6.

The Tribe just cliched their playoff spot in style, with a 3 run Jose Ramirez walkoff shot in extras

The Tribe walked off again tonight. Only 2 games behind Chicago and Minnesota who are tied for first. Twins hold tiebreaker over Tribe. Tribe holds tiebreaker over White Sox. This weekend is a good time for the Pirates to be headed to town.

After last night's comeback win the Indians are 1 back of Chicago and 2 back on Minnesota with 3 games left.
Only way to win the division is if we win out and Minnesota loses out plus one loss by Chicago. Biggest realistic thing left to play for now is home field for the Wild Card series, which would most likely be against the Yankees if it happened.

In 1920 the Brooklyn Dodgers (or maybe Robins) lost to the Cleveland Indians in the World Series. Wouldn't it be ironical if 100 years later the same thing happened? Oh well, I can hope. LA Dodgers are no doubt too tough, plus for the tribe to get past AL teams to get into the WS is a really long shot.

Another comeback win today coupled with a White Sox loss has clinched home field advantage in the Wild Card series, which will be against the Yankees
