Of course he’ll take some lumps as a freshman in the Big Ten, this conference is probably the best top to bottom in the country. Even Liddell struggled at times last year, it wasn’t until toward the end of the season when he really came on strong.

Good win. To many bad decision/turnovers by some of our more experienced players

Good to see Key showing what he can do. Liddell contracting mono is not good news. I'm guessing he will be out at least a month, minimum and then there's a long road of recovering one's strength.

One good thing about Liddell is the team believes he’s had it for a while already so he may be back quicker than that.

We play UNC this Saturday so that’ll be a nice test. I'm guessing we will be at a decided, disadvantage along the front line, especially with Liddell out. During the Clev St game they said EJ could be back as quick as early as Wed or Thurs. They said Holtman told them EJ was over halfway thru. Which could be a two week period if his spleen is okay. Thursday would be a week since he found out. Fingers crossed.

The Buckeyes are going to be looking up at the towering Purdue front line. I had the pleasure of watching 7'4" Zach Edey play, along with three Parade All-Americans at IMG Academy, last year. The only thing holding Zach back, is the fact he is tall and thin. Diet and weight training will help him become a force on the low block. Zach was the 'other' 7 footer on the IMG roster.
Couple that with Purdue's other power forward at 6'10", makes it a formidable challenge. Can't wait till game time!
GO BUCKS!

Liked the Bucks defensive intensity tonight and the way they attacked the hole off the dribble, but they will struggle (imo) until they find a consistent outside perimeter shooting threat from someone.

Tough one tonight. Definitely need Liddell back, this team is much different without him and Purdue has a lot of big guys. Key continues to play well, doesn’t seem phased at all as a freshman.

with EJ it would have been a different story. Does it seem to anyone else like Kyle Young is really struggling.

Cleveland St announcers said EJ had Mono. Now reports are coming from media he has Covid. Which is it?
It looks to me that Kyle Young struggles in the senior leader role. Always has been a support guy and now they look to him as a leader and it's not been great. Having EJ out makes it noticeable he is not that guy.

I just read this morning that Young left the arena in a walking boot as well last night. He has battled injuries all 4 years, he just seems to never be 100% healthy.
Key has actually been playing better overall than Young I think.

This is not meant as criticism, because Chris Holtman has recruited very well. We essentially have a team comprised of 6-5 to 6-7 players, guards and small forwards, but very lacking in the big, physical bangers that can post up and muscle off the low post. Some guys in the realm of Jared Sullinger. As I see it, the inside-outside game lacks balance. You look around the league and I see a decided disadvantage from that aspect of the game.
Last night, Purdue aptly maintained a half court game. When Ohio State got off in their transition game, it was amazing. There is a lot of speed and athleticism on this team, that can push it up the court very quickly. No one wishes to get into a running game with the Buckeyes.

Key has actually been playing better overall than Young I think. If my memory is accurate, in high school Young was on the perimeter as much as he was inside. I think Jackson played 3 big guys together. If Young is out for any extended time, Key will have to age fast until EJ and Kyle return. We could also hope for Seth Towns to be ready soon. Could Diallo provide any relief?

He does have a concussion from the previous game so who knows how long he is out.

It's a long shot that Diallo will ever be a starter or a significant contributor. Ohio State will not be a consistent Big Ten contender until Holtmann can sign a 6-10+ kid of significance in every class. He's been at Ohio State 4 years and hasn't signed one yet.

Def not Covid with EJ one would think. Agree about the lack of height from Holtmans teams. Not sure why he can’t seem to land the 6’10 240# who can walk and chew gum at the same time.

Tough win over UCLA. Team was down 6 and rallied back. Eugene Brown hit two big 3’s late in the game. Seth Towns even got a few minutes in the first half. One thing that surprised me about him was how big he is, I knew he was around 6’8 or so but just looked bigger on the court.
