He's about 15 pounds bigger than 3 years ago as a Soph in the Ivy league, after 2 knee surgeries. I question if he'll be as good of a wing player now or have to be a power forward due to his knee and extra pounds.
Zed Key has made great strides rebounding and making put back baskets even as he gets hit by a defender. Just needs to do better on defense in pick and roll situations.

Wow what a second half for Ohio State. A lot of people complaining about the refs but Rutgers also didn’t shoot nearly as well from 3 as they did in the first half. Musa Jallow did a great job defending Ron Harper in the second half. These two teams play again on January 9, you know they’ll have that game circled.

You probably already knew this: Ron Harper is son of the All-Ohio (Dayton Kiser), leading all-time scorer for the Miami Redskins and MAC 'player of the year' and NBA veteran Ron Harper Sr. (Why not Ohio State?) Perhaps the family resides in the greater New York/ Jersey area?

Ohio State with a blowout win over Nebraska last night. Biggest Big Ten win in over 30 years. Sunday will be a huge test though as they take on minnesota who is on a tear right now. Marcus Carr has been one of the best players in the country so far this year for them.

Why does CJ Walker continue to pass up outside shots and try to drive on guys a foot taller than him?
Washington is one of the most frustrating players. He can look so good and then he can look so bad literally within seconds.
Sueing had a great first game of the year and ever since then has been just so so.
Liddell with his worst game of the year. That 7 footer was just too much for him at his height.
Towns looked stiff tonight and had a couple horrible shots.

Bad matchup for OSU. We have no C. Zed Key is a true freshman power foward. It was a bad performance on top of that for OSU. Maybe they were still tired from staying up late and watching the FB team. They played like a tired team, not sharp at all.

Yet another game where Ohio State's 6-7 players don't have a chance against multiple 6-10 to 7-0 players, the way the game is played and called in the Big Ten. In the 2nd half you could see that Key, Lidell and Young were flat out frustrated on offense AND defense. So much so that Liddell gave up his game and resorted to shooting 3-pointers, not his game. Against good Big Ten opponents Liddell is going to struggle unless he can get matched up against a small forward and that isn't happening unless Key AND Young are in the game with him. AND that isn't happening with Holtmann's current roster or his roster in the foreseeable future.
I could see Ohio State finishing just ahead of Nebraska. And that won't change until Holtmann is able to recruit a good 6-10 or taller player in every class. His Butler recruiting plan will not work in the Big Ten. It's going to cost him his job unless he can adapt to Big Ten play and recruiting.

Better showing today, solid win over Rutgers even without Walker. The defense played well overall and they were getting good shots on offense. Even Meechie Johnson got some playing time. Hopefully Sotos isn’t hurt too bad, can’t lose another pg.

If Sotos is out I’d guess Washington starts at PG but yeah he’d have to probably play some more minutes. How crazy would that be, a potential top 25 ranked team playing without its top two point guards and the third should really be a senior in high school right now.

In this case it would be fourth(s) string, you're forgetting Abel Porter. Thus, if your counting Washington, Meechie would be fifth(s) string. LOLOLOLOLOLOLO dunce!

Didnt forget about Porter, just didn’t count him since he’s not eligible.
Got some tough games coming up though for the Buckeyes.

Nice road win at Illinois today. Shot lights out in 1st half but knew Illinois would mount a comeback.

Great win today. That Cockburn for Illinois is a huge mismatch but we defended him well. Solid double teams on him. Liddell without a single field goal last game and then this game shoots lights out. Ahrens also with some big buckets. Hopefully he continues to shoot well. Way too many turnovers overall though, we’re lucky we shot well otherwise all those turnovers could have been a game changer. Been impressed with how the senior in high school Meechie has been playing, this is such valuable experience for him in the coming years.

Ahrens could become a real basketball player if he learned to shot midrange and drive to the basket. He's only taken ONE non-3point shot this year. Meechie will probably be playing 30 minutes per game next year. A TRUE PG, one that will be much better than CJ Walker AND 3 inchers taller. Hopefully he overcomes his immaturity of verbalizing his game with players on the other team. There are some up by The Lake, that will tell you Tahj is better.

Was Tahj the boy from Sandusky ? If getting an Education and Basketball doesn't pan out for him, Being plastered in Tattoos, He could have a future at Chipotle's by the mall.

Ahrens is very similar to Diebler, won’t see many drives or two point shots from him. But can help stretch the floor and make teams be constantly aware of where he is on the floor.
It also feels like we haven’t missed a beat so far without our two point guards. Not saying I want to play the rest of the season without true point guards but in two games so far they’ve done just fine which is good to see.

I don't think Ahrens will have a very successful career playing in Europe. By his Senior year Diebler was driving the baseline making layups on occasion. Looking forward to hearing an AHHHHH come from the crowd next year like the DEEEEB we heard.
Ohio State is actually missing their top 3 PGs. Remember, Abel Porter was penciled in as the backup PG until just before the start of the season when he was told he had to quit playing due to a medical condition.

Ohio State up to 15 in this week's AP oll. UCLA in this week for the first time this season with an 11-2 record. One of those losses to Ohio State. More amazing than that. This is the first time in 60 years that none of these 3, Kentucky, Duke and North Carolina are in the poll.

Terrible loss by Ohio State. Seems like we say that a lot about this team. Blew a decent lead. Stopped attacking, lots of dribbling with no real team work. No excuse for not getting shots off in last 2 minutes. Jekyll and Hyde team

May be two losses in a row as they play Wisconsin next. Felt like they relied way too much on the 3 ball tonight.

Gotta find a way to generate offense other than 3s. Know there isn't great height but gotta find some floor leadership in clutch.

Musa Jallow plays hard but if Ahrens keeps shooting the way he is, Jallow’s minutes are going to keep going down as we have seen lately. He brings no offense and his jump shot is flat out ugly.
