I blame the people that decided to wait until March to accept this virus was a problem Do you mean all the Dems like Biden who called Trump a racist for the travel ban on China at the end of January? Perhaps the ones like Pelosi and DeBlasio that said for people to go party in Chinatown, or go to downtown NY for a night out? Or maybe the doctors like Fauci and the head of the CDC that said masks were not necessary and in some cases did more harm than good? Sure

the NCAA is on it's way out as an institution, and the baffling lack of a comprehensive plan to get all these conferences on the same page (at least the power-5) in terms of how to have some sort of football season is just another mark against them...it indicates a total lack of leadership on any level above the individual school
the G-league is going to keep eating away at the pro-ready college basketball players, and this gaff is surely going to lead to some major think-tanking by all the major football conferences on how to better re-organize their brands in the midst of encroaching professionalism on the college game and the financial implications
I hear rumors the B10 wants to try to play football in the spring, and if that is the case then ROFL! Making love to a corpse man. Maybe we should join the SEC if those are the kinds of decisions a post-Delaney B10 is going to make. The best time to plant an oak tree is 20 years ago. The 2nd best time is RIGHT NOW. Stop waiting and do something. You shoulda already been did something.

It's pretty safe to assume, the Big Ten medical consultants and to a greater degree, the Big Ten legal counsel were the major pursuaders in this decision. It was not about student/athlete safety, but about liabilities and potential lawsuits that could put the league presidents and the B1G front office in legal jeopardy, if a player gets seriously ill or dies of Covid-19.

I'm all for Ohio State withdrawing from the Big "chicken poop" Ten, And joining eSECpn. If we do, Then Confederate flag vendors should be welcome in Columbus, As they always have been across the eSECpn.

So many questions that need to be answered moving forward, like how it affects players eligibility, incoming recruits next year, etc.
And there’s no way they will play in the spring.

The league presidents have created a cluster f*ck of a problem. As DrTorch pointed out, there is no one in command to coordinate this mess. NCAA has taken a quiet observers role in all of this, further exhibiting their impotence, as worthless as a limp dick in a whore house.
If the ACC, Big 12 and SEC elect to play this fall. The candidates for 2020 National Champion and Heisman Trophy has narrowed significantly. There are other considerations at play for these conferences, knowing the B1G and PAC 12 have opted out, recruiting being one of them.
I don't see a spring schedule being feasable and without any leadership and coordination to orchestrate things, it won't happen. That presents a problem with all the players that will have another season of eligibility, suiting up next fall. As I mentioned before, be ready for rosters, the size of which we have never seen before.
For Ohio State, losing 4* SDE Tunmese Aedele to a decommit, is just the tip of the iceberg. There are sure to be others to follow, devastating a recuiting class that once promised to be the greatest recruiting class in college football history.

Ironic that high schools can have contact sports but colleges cant. Me thinks it is as much to do with $$$$ cost of college fb programs and loss of income as anything, yet it is okay, as wf pointed out elsewhere, in osu case that main campus freshmen are required to live in dorms ($$$$$ Income to school) even though all classes may be online. Dont underestimate the importance of the almighty $$$$ when it comes to colleges but it looks better to the general public that you are protecting your college athletes. Its all bs.

Has anyone thought to ask the Big 10 brass these questions...
Why can Cincinnati play, but Ohio St can’t? Why can Pitt play, but Penn St. can’t? Why can Notre Dame play, but Indiana and Purdue can’t? Why can Iowa St play, but Iowa can’t? Why can Navy play, but Maryland can’t?

Guys - I promise you the other conferences are not going to be play football. Just give it a little time. It will be very clear soon.

Everyone is at a different point with understanding that it's not going to happen this year. Denial may be the best word but hopeful too for those remaining. The B1G pulled the plug quickly but they were at a point of understanding what will be clearer to everyone soon.

How is it safe to bring thousands of young adults back to campus to the same dorms to party together, hit Juuls together, and sleep together, but it’s not ok to have 80 of them run around outside together? Transmission outdoors during the day approaches 0. Football. Inside crammed together huge. Nursing homes and prisons.

Again, unlike those on campus only for classes.

The University Presidents don't care about the general student population. They aren't high profile students, Big Ten football players are. The University Presidents are using football players as political pawns. The general student population is where they make their money, student athletes cost them money. It would not bother them a bit if football became far less important.

It would not bother them a bit if football became far less important. The football players are worth $50+ million in income for the athletic department as such are enticed with scholarship, meals, housing, stipends and all the benefits that come with being an athlete at a major football school pushing you back to school because this is the year it is available to you. The regular students went to the trouble of paying their own way to jumping back in school with no more benefit this year than next year. The difference is like comparing being pushed from the cliff to jumping on your own from the cliff. If pushed you have a much better lawsuit than if you jump.

My guess is a very small number of college football players are fine without a season or maybe even glad they aren’t playing. Those would be the very small number that were already likely to be drafted. They were already concerned about a career ending injury. COVID just makes the risk even greater than the benefits. Almost every other college football player is willing to jump with the other undergrads. JMO.

Players know their window for playing and potentially making an impression to move to the next level is rather small. Losing this year could put an end to college and possible professional dreams for many. With that said, when something goes wrong how is that story going to be told in the courtroom. I truly believe this is a liability issue more than a health or risk issue.
