#10 Jonathon Alder will face Lexington tomorrow at 2pm in the regional semis. Any thoughts on this. With the days off both should be rested.

#10 Jonathon Alder will face Lexington tomorrow at 2pm in the regional semis. Any thoughts on this. With the days off both should be rested. Should be a great game, all teams at this stage are playing well. Alder/Lexington sound like they have a lot some similarities. Predicting a very tight low scoring game I would imagine. Alder doesn't have a lights out #1 pitcher, but has a really good side arm closer and several solid #2 guys. Alder can score runs, the top half of the order has carried the offense most of the year and been pretty consistent. There are times though that when they don't produce the back half of the order has not stepped up as much. They are pretty experienced, mostly juniors and seniors in key positions with a couple of sophomore's seeing time on a regular basis. Alder has some very good wins over Lakewood, Desales (Central District 2 Champ), Watterson, Highland, Dublin Scioto & Wheelersburg (Div 3 District Champ). Common opponents are Highland and Buckeye Valley which both teams swept during the regular season. Weather looks like it may cause some havoc over the next couple of days.

Alder loses 5-2. Bases loaded twice and couldn't score. Tied 2-2 in the bottom of the 5th was there undoing. Easy play at first dropped by 1st base. Lexington preceeded to score 3 runs afterwards.
Alders bats were ice cold most of the game. Only mustered 4-5 hits.
Good luck to Lexington, a lot of speed in there lineup and they play good defense and hit the ball hard. Hope they make it to Huntington park.

Damn, I thought forsure alder would make a decent run. Goes to show the moac isn't very good in baseball as it has been.

Shoulda said a "longer" run. How they played regular season I thought they was regional champs at least.

Regionals is not a decent run? I would agree, Alder has won 9 district championships, 2 state championships, 1 runner up and another final 4 appearance. The goal every year is to win 20 games, win the league and win a district final. At this stage in the game all teams are very good. To make a broad statement and bring them back into the collection of MOAC teams and say they aren't good is ridiculous. A 21-6 season, one loss in the league, a district championship, beating Desales who is still alive, Watterson CCl Champ, Lakewood State Ranked, Bexley MSL Champ & Wheelersburg who is still alive and state ranked. Pretty good season if you ask me, other schools would have loved to had that type of season.

Only 16 schools in the state out of 193 can call themselves D2 District Champs. I would say that's better than decent and playing in the fifth round of tournament is a pretty long run for a team.

Dude.. you deleted your account and made another because of what reason is unknown.. banned? Or. But alder had a good season. I just predicted would go farther. Not that I care. But I know some alder homers and they thought this team had what it takes to make it to Columbus.

But I know some alder homers and they thought this team had what it takes to make it to Columbus. As a Alder homer and with a son on the team. I personally thought we played as well as expected. Tough loss to swallow, the bracket was wide open after Wapak & Defiance both fell in there in there district. I saw us getting to the district final as the season progressed and getting a good seed, winning against Watterson was icing on the cake. I think collectively we didn't play very well yesterday offensively, poor at bats/base running and defensively not getting routine outs when they were needed. Just wasn't our day. Coming into the season our starting senior catcher had to be moved to 1st base due to shoulder recovery issues. Putting probably our best first baseman with the most experience on the bench. It was hard to cover up that wart all year. In some of our losses it definitely showed with having a young sophomore behind the plate. Specifically yesterday, Lexington stole 2nd base at least 4-5 times, they had a lot of speed. In addition, a catchable ball to 1st base was dropped that led to the deciding 3 run rally. Not making excuses, Alder had several chances to take control of this game and looked just as good talent wise with Lexington. A district championships are not just handed out, would have loved to make it to Huntington park. But if you ask anyone close to program at the start of the season, losing your 2 ace pitchers and not a ton of varsity pitching experience behind them as well as a 3 year starter at catcher would have to move to 1st base where he didn't have a ton of reps. If you said, hey your going to beat some of the teams I mentioned and win a district final they wouldn't have believed you.

There is nothing wrong with a team falling short of your prediction, but what they did achieve was better than decent in my opinion. Nothing more than that.

BTW looks like Desales is getting ready to knock off Hamilton Ross. Leading 7-0 heading to the 7th inning.

BV has a new coach. Very impressed with him so far. It may take him a few years to reverse the crappy culture of the previous coach but things are headed in the right direction.

Drew Kirby who was most recently an assistant at Jonathan Alder, but also former head coach at Elgin when they made the final 4. Also a BV alum.
