Congrats to Shelby on another MOAC title. SHS winning the championship by 3 games left no doubt who was the dominant team. It is tournament time - good luck to our MOAC teams. I think Shelby and R Valley make it to the district finals. They both could make it farther. I think all the other teams are one game and out except the winner of CF vs. Galion who will lose to Lex in round 2. Marion Harding should win a few games based on seeding but I predict them to get upset. I hope the MOAC teams play well and makes my picks look bad. Could river valley make it to Athens? I think it's possible. RV played as many tough Cbus schools that reasonably fit their profile, and it turns out a ton of them were on Hartley's schedule. Berlin, Jonathan Alder, Watterson, DeSales. All of them common opponents. Both Hartley and RV lost to JA. The remaining outcomes of those games somewhat resemble the OG/Lex/Shelby triangle of outcomes where you don't put one team over the other with any concrete opinion. Hartley split with RV took two L's to Shelby, and Hartley took an L to Mansfield. Plenty of apples and oranges to suggest these two schools are in the same category of talent.

Shelby plays in the Northwest 3 District. It is the most difficult district in the state in Division II. There are five teams in this district in the top 23 rankings in the state. Shelby (#2), Lexington (#6), Willard (#17), Bellevue (#18), and Senior (#23). The sixth best team is Perkins (#35).
Columbus has two districts. The teams choose to go into either district. One winner goes to Athens. The other winner goes to Vandalia. R Valley (#13) is in Central District #2 with Bishop Hartley (#4), Granville (#51), and Linden McKinley (#53). Winner to Athens. Central District #1 the top teams are Bishop Ready (#32), Bloom Carroll (#48), and Bishop Watterson (#59). Winner to Vandalia.
R Valley is #13 in Martin RPI. R Valley will have to beat Beechcroft (#121), Linden McKinley (#53), and Hartley (#4) or Granville (#51) to win Central district #2. IF R Valley gets to Athens they have a reasonable chance to go to state. Regional Semifinal opponent is probably Maysville (#9) or Indian Valley (#26). Regional final opponent is probably Marietta (#16), New Lexington (#40), Tri Valley (#12), or East Liverpool (#46).
Shelby is #2 in Martin RPI. IF Shelby gets to Bowling Green they have a great chance to make it to the finals. Regional semifinal opponent is probably Elida (#42), Lima Shawnee (#22) or Fostoria (#39). Regional final opponent is almost a certainty #1 Rocky River Lutheran West. Lutheran Wests toughest district opponent is Madison (#41). The regional semifinal opponent comes from the weakest ranked Division II district, Lake. The top ranked team in that district is Toledo Scott (#65).
Marion Harding is #58 in Martin RPI in Division I. To get to Columbus for regional play, Marion will have to beat Olentangy (#91) and Teays Valley (#96), and probably Reynoldsburg (#14) and Columbus South (#62).
4th Place MOAC team, Pleasant is #62 in Martin RPI in Division III. To get to Athens for regional play, Pleasant will have to beat Heath (#24), and probably Fairbanks (#45), North Union (#33) or Africentric (#63), and Harvest Prep (#7).

I truly believe that the Shelby Lex winner will have a great chance to contend for a state title if they can get by Lutheran West.

The Tigers are on a roll, with the win tonight the Tigers are 7-3 in the last 10 games and they should have won those 3 losses. As I predicted the Tigers will beat Lexington on Friday. They will have the same game plan from the last time they played Lexington. They will play 4 corner and slow the game down and will beat Lexington 40-30. Once they beat Lexington the road to the regionals will be an easy road because Galion had found a way to win those close games and slow down the game that no defense could defend it and find those open players. Also in that 10 game period Galion has outscored their opponents 594(59.4ppg)-489(48.9ppg). Pure offensive showcase

Shelby won their first game. Both Shelby and River Valley have a good chance at winning a District. River Valley may have the edge but will need to play well with McKinley and Hartley, but Hartley has been over hyped this season. I was a their game at Mansfield and they did not look special. Shelby will have to play a couple good games but are playing very well right now and are the #2 team state ranked in D2 for a reason.
