Absolutely NO disrespect to Jon Alder, I'm just pretty sold that Hartley will repeat as D4 champions.

Can someone from the JA faithful fill us in on the status of PUGH?

Can someone from the JA faithful fill us in on the status of PUGH? Pugh is done for the year, don't see him coming back from what I've heard. Koenig is most likely out as well. Tough luck with injuries to these 2 key players during the 2nd half of the season, probably cost us a better seed and potentially a deeper run in the playoffs. Tough draw for a 1st round game, I know everyone was happy to see RV lose and Alder get the outright MOAC title, but it cost us getting the 3 seed.. Good group of Seniors and Juniors, I know they will be pumped for next Friday, I hope they can spring the upset. This will be by the far the best team they have faced all year. Will need some turnovers and defense will have to play lights out and then some.

BTW the all time Hartley vs Alder series, they have played 10 times and have split 5 wins a piece.
Last game was in 2006 when Alder won 34-0. Alder went onto lose to a former buckeye, John Simon, led Yougstown Mooney in the state final.

2007 Cardinal Mooney was ranked 3rd in the Nation, in the USA today. At end of Regular Season. They Beat Pleasant 28-0 in D4 Semi-finals. I remember Simon was on D-line. Mooneys RB and FB both went onto Penn state (Zordich I believe played for Steelers, son was the FB that went to Penn State.) Along with several other D1 Players. Pleasant Played a good half down 7-0, and just missed a 40 Yard FG going into the locker room. Mooney wore Pleasants efforts down in the 2nd half. Mooney, then got Beat by Coldwater in the Finals.... Lol I love the MAC!!

And this year. With JA completely Healthy at best they are middle of pack in the Region. Without Pugh, maybe beat Ben Logan...

That was a nice Mooney team they ended Steubenvilles what? 40-50 game winning streak in the regional finals by about 28 points I believe. That Coldwater state title game with Mooney is one I will always remember.

I wanted to see this kid play and was able to go to the Marion Harding game and the River Valley game. I was surprised when he was not dressed to play in the RV game. In my opinion, the play calling cost Alder the RV game and a higher seed. Now knowing PUGH is done for the year, it will be an even greater upset if Alder is able to beat Hartley. Good Luck. Rooting for all MOAC teams to represent in the playoffs.

Hartley is a great team and on a great roll the last few years, and with great coaches.. Only 3 head coaches since 1957. That is impressive to say the least. Hartley's records say it's all time 5-5 against JA. My records indicate its 6-5 with JA winning the LAST 6 games in the series that ended in 2006. With the 7 and 25 in the game Alder matched up with any DIV team in the state, losing both of them was a huge blow to team. JA has a lot of great players 2, 4, 5, 13, 18, 24, 27, 41, 47, 51, 71.. can play on any team anywhere.. They got good speed, can run the ball and throw the ball. Kicking game is big huge issue. Kick offs are just plain terrible calls by the coaching staff. The kicker can kick it deep, the kids can tackle, but the coaches have them short kick and all the time give the other team the ball at the 35 or better.

All well and good, but unfortunately this season is this season and you really have to be realistic here. JA HAS NOT seen a team like BHHS at any time in quite some time. It is going to be a LONG night for JA, but those are the BREAKS in this DRAW. Like I said the question for JA is how long they can avoid the RUNNING CLOCK, which would be a VICTORY in itself.

My take on the Hartley - JA Matchup * Hartley plays one of the hardest schedules, if not the hardest. JA plays in the MOAC. NO COMPARISON * Hartley Defending State Champs. JA Defending MOAC Champs. NO COMPARISON * Coaching Experience. NO COMPARISON * Hartley's Players are Bigger, Faster, Stronger and with more playoff experience. NO COMPARISON The List could go on forever in favor of Hartley.. In all accounts and in every facet of the game, Hartley should completely ANNIHILATE JA. Hartley should be up by 30+ BEFORE the beginning of the 2nd quarter. Hartley's starters should be able to watch the second half of the game from the sidelines.. IN STREET CLOTHES This is "David vs Goliath"..... We all know how that turned out for Goliath :-) GO ALDER & SLAY GOLIATH!

Team is totally different when Pugh plays, he picks up everyone else. When he is out they all played flat(see RV game). Hopefully JA comes to play and gives themselves a chance. JA may not have seen a "team" like Hartley but they have play against top athletes (see Harding game) with top end speed and quickness. But bigger, faster, stronger, we will see. Pugh plays Hartley 35-28, Pugh does not play Hartley 42-7.

Really would not matter if you had a D1 RB in the BACKFIELD (SEE Desales, TCC, Bishop Ready, Kilbourne) it will be OBVIOUS in the first Offensive and Defensive series that JA is BIG trouble and in for a RUNNING CLOCK. JA should just be ecstatic of their OWN accomplishments this SEASON and leave it at that as this is a ONE AND OUT DAY for the JA Seniors for sure! Hope JA behaves appropriately afterwards and enjoys the fact that the DEFENDING STATE CHAMPIONS are going to put on a HS FB Clinic. Hope the JA BAND is GOOD! ;0

^this is why I can't stand Hartley. BOO HOO! Really can't deal with a successful program. Jealousy raises its UGLY head once again. JA will have its chance to SHOW what they have on the FIELD and so will BH. I am sure the PUBLIC vs PRIVATE issue will be coming up shortly from the HATERS! So Sad!

I have no problem with a successful program. Hartley has accomplished more in the last few years than any school has in its history, like JA. I do have a problem with arrogant fans. We get it, Hartley is extremely good.

JA should take their BEST shot and see what happens. To have a chance to PLAY the State Champions at HOME is quite the HONOR so no BAD feelings should be had.
