Shelby run D playing pretty well but Big Red passing game looks good...they dropped what would have likely been a big catch and run for TD. Shelby O has been moving the ball but again shooting themselves in the foot, 3 times in redzone and only come away with 7pts (missed FG and turnover)...I think 2 turnovers for Shelby lost but they also muffed a punt and a pitch to RB but recovered both

At some point you run across teams that will punish you for mental mistakes. Been a great season boys.

Thank You Shelby you played a very good game against a very quality program in Steubenville you should be proud of yourselves. You represented the NOL well in it's finale year. BigRed95 you represented your team very well by not putting down your opponent here on our forum, unlike a certain person from Bishop Hartley that I will not say his name again, that shows a very classic person that you are. If and when you play Bishop Hartley I'll be cheering you on. In case every one hasn't heard Ottawa-Glandorf almost beat Bishop Hartley but lost to them by 3 pts. The score was 38-35 ( DAMN ). Good Luck Steubenville and thanks Shelby.

Got to give props to #6 WR for Shelby. He made a catch ear the end of 2nd quarter, got jacked up by severe hit but held on for the catch...personal fouls was called for helmet to helmet hit. he stayed down for several minutes, appeared to be spitting up blood...then he comes out out after halftime and doesn't miss a snap on either side of the ball...

You never want the season to end but what a fantastic ride this team took us on this fall. Coach Will said they couldn't turn the ball over if they wanted to win and they shot themselves in the foot several times. The fumble return at the end of the first half was a killer as it ended up being a 14 point turnaround. But like they have done all year they never gave up and put themselves in a position to win. Super proud to call myself a Whippet and can't wait for next season. Thanks to all the seniors who have built these winning ways which younger classes can now build upon.

Just a handful of plays made such a difference last night. The fumble at the end of the first half was a 15 point swing as well as a huge momentum switch. Shelby really was out-manned, but did a great job of hanging in there. Armstrong is a tough kid. The offensive line struggled as the game wore on, giving no time to find receivers.
Overall a great job by Shelby and a great season. Congrats.

How much did the two suspended players hurt the Whippets? Would have been interesting to see how deep they could have gone with less mental mistakes this season (turnovers, penalties, dropped passes). One more crack for this class to live up to the hype. This year was a definite big step for them but still no league title and only one playoff appearance. Both are expected next year, at minimum.

WTF "live up to the hype"
Apparently they have to win a state Championship or something.

This year was a definite big step for them but still no league title and only one playoff appearance. Both are expected next year, at minimum. I would say they missed them a bunch. OL was one of the quicker lineman and would have have been better equipped to handle one of their speed DE. Missing WR was their best WR in terms of catches and yardage coming into game (I think, and probably had the most targets all year as well) and his size (6'3", 205ish) and experience would have factored in. Proud of the whippets for not giving up and giving the Big Red all they could handle...to me, not sure what more u want out of Shelby. Public school reaches Regional Finals and puts up a darn good fight and had a perennial power on their heals before the 15 point swing right before the half without two key players...

Please don't make excuses at this point. They (the two players) got themselves ejected from the game last week so it is what it is. Take care of the ball and you may see a different outcome of the game maybe. Nice season Shelby.

I think there is a lot to be proud of in Shelby. I'm just saying they have elite talent at two offensive positions, if not more and not including those two's impact defensively. In addition, some of their other players are the best at their positions in the league. I would just expect that kind of talent to win a league title and go further than two weak playoff wins. Next year has the makings for something special which would make my post moot. As for this week, I think there was a lot of talk leading up to the game about "being happy" and "being proud" win or lose. Writing appeared on the wall before the game kicked off. Despite that mindset and their mental lapses, they still had a great chance to win.
I would like nothing more than for the Whippets to beat the heck out of the SBC Bay Division in 2017. I think it happens and then we will see how the playoff draw matches up. New divisions possible for many schools next year. New enrollment numbers plus competitive balance begins.

Didn't say it would change the outcome

Wondering if two players that were suspended might have made a difference in a football game is the opposite of making an excuse, it's normal football conversation on an Internet forum.
Would they have helped Shelby? 100% yes. It's a shame the team they played the week before tried to thug up the game and start fights because they were getting their *** kicked. Shelby paid the price.
