Thank You Shelby you played a very good game against a very quality program in Steubenville you should be proud of yourselves. You represented the NOL well in it's finale year. BigRed95 you represented your team very well by not putting down your opponent here on our forum, unlike a certain person from Bishop Hartley that I will not say his name again, that shows a very classic person that you are. If and when you play Bishop Hartley I'll be cheering you on. In case every one hasn't heard Ottawa-Glandorf almost beat Bishop Hartley but lost to them by 3 pts. The score was 38-35 ( DAMN ). Good Luck Steubenville and thanks Shelby. Sorry, I'm not a weekend poster. Let me start out by saying, "WOW!" Shelby really impressed me! This will be a very dangerous team next year and I look forward to following them and quite possibly meeting up with them again (depending on CB, obviously). As for me not putting our opponent down, well I'm an adult and I have a lot of respect for the teams we play.

29-15 Big Red, final. Shelby got nobody to blame but themselves...dropped passes and turnovers killed them Not sure why I said dropped passes...only a couple and 1 key dropped TD pass in endzone. Got to give props to #6 WR for Shelby. He made a catch ear the end of 2nd quarter, got jacked up by severe hit but held on for the catch...personal fouls was called for helmet to helmet hit. he stayed down for several minutes, appeared to be spitting up blood...then he comes out out after halftime and doesn't miss a snap on either side of the ball... First of all, this kid is indeed a BEAST, he took that hit and then came back and still made plays late into the game! I just wanted to point out that this was not a helmet to helmet hit and that the actual call for the personal foul was "over aggressiveness". Which isn't even an actual penalty. During the replay of the game, they replayed the hit in slow motion and you can see that he clearly led with his shoulder pad. Had it been a helmet to helmet hit, the player would have been flagged for targeting and then ejected. Because Big Red takes part in The High School Sports network, I was able to go back to that play and create a clip of it. Here: shar.es/1ILBwTThe reason I feel a need to point this out is due to the fact that certain fans across the State like to accuse Big Red of "dirty play" and many would point to this play as proof (not saying anyone from Shelby did or will).

I agree that it wasn't a "dirty play", but if it wasn't helmet to helmet it was awfully close...at the end of your clip when they slow it way down it looks to me like he did in fact lead with his shoulder but the top of the helmet of the Big Red player clips the facemask of Egner turning his head to the right just before Egner gets de-cleated...it is close enough that I understand why the official threw the flag. And yes Egner played every snap on both sides of the ball in the second half, very tough kid.

Didn't know they started enforcing 'targeting' in high school, without being able to review it in some way. Too questionable in live action,to be enforcing it,IMO

"too questionable to enforce" In 2014 a targeting rule was added to the OHSAA rule book. It specifically spells out what targeting is. Official sees it, he throws his flag and the penalty is accessed. What is "too questionable" about that?

It's on the books but rarely called.

The lower the level of football, the fewer targeting instances occur.

The questionable part for me is, the some what unskilled and untrained eye of not so experienced high school officials , to make this judgement call at full speed, with not being able to review it, yet. We're not dealing college level or professional referees here. That must be why I haven't seen targeting being called in a high school game, It rarely gets called, I didn't know it was a rule for H.S. until now.
