footballfan, soccer would affect the football numbers. It may not hurt the program but it would affect the numbers. YOu would probably start to see it about 3-4 years after it becomes a varsity sport.

I'm just curious because I know you've been on here a while and was on probably 8+ years ago on the nosf. You just brought up Second or third generations being stuck in their ways but you also said that you're not a big soccer fan but seems like you post as much or more than anybody in the soccer forum. But I'm actually 43 years old to give an honest answer with four girls still in the school system one which probably would've went out for soccer if Bellevue had it but her only interest was because of her cousin was in soccer in Columbus.

And before that when JJ was THE place to find out about high school sports around Ohio. I have a couple of friends that had kids play soccer in high school. Both of my kids were among the hundreds of little kids who played soccer, but gave it up before getting to high school. Again, IMO there is nothing better for little kids than running around a field in shorts and T-shirts kicking a ball. Almost all start playing games on cell phones and computers before the 1st grade, get them doing something outside or in a gym, when there is still a chance. I just try to stay as informed about as many sports as possible. IMO there is nothing better than ALL high school sports, for teenagers. Try to find one you're at least decent at and be a part of a team. To be exact, 59.

soccer wouldn't work well with Bellevue, after all have you seen their kicking game in football ? wow! Actually having a soccer program helps the football team find a good kicker. Not all young soccer players end up playing soccer in high school, many gravitate to football in Junior High. A head football coach who's concerned with special teams will ask all of their 7th graders if they played soccer when they were younger. If the answer is yes, regardless of what position they play in football, have a couple in every class work on kicking extra points.

I've coached football at two schools that had members of the soccer team kick for us. At both schools players quit the soccer team to play football. We did have one kid quit to play soccer. His dad was a college coach at the time and is now a NFL DC. Go figure.

Bellevue is still gonna be bellevue.Next to coach Dempsey at central Catholic Ed Nasonti from bellevue has most years in area coaching! Great coach great program at bellevue.I got bellevue top 2 or 3 this year, if they can maintain health through early schedule, they will be there at end.

Boy, I hate to do this but, I have to agree with Willard Fillmore. I have heard that there is an interest in soccer in Bellevue. I believe your Rec Department has a soccer program. I have also heard that it is the football coach that does not want soccer to get a foothold in Bellevue. Maybe that is why Bellevue does not have a kicking game. Yea the football coach won't allow it so Bellevue is not aloud soccer. LOL I wish we did then maybe we would find a kicker. I'm pretty sure we don't have many starters year after year that would go to soccer if we had it! IMO

Probably... though their program has improved im willing to bet it has alittle to do with perkins pay to play. I've heard that Perkins plans to end open enrollment. Anybody know the details? We can only hope. It would have been fine had Gunner allowed it with a steady hand on the gate, but the initial rush of those first few years hit us hard, and it's coming back around. That said, it's a lot harder to close the valve than it was to open it up. Siblings of non-resident students will likely be grandfathered in, and I imagine it will be a slow process of capping the numbers lower and lower for a few years, rather than an immediate shutoff. Of course, it's academic, as it's nothing but a rumor at this point.

In all reality, Perkins has been the program over the last 5 years that has benefited from open enrollment. (Amison, Chaney, and many other open enrolled kids who would have really helped Sandusky football) The pay to play has not produced much as far as students leaving Perkins. If the may levy doesn't pass, that could change. As far as next year, I would say Perkins, Clyde, and Sandusky will battle. Sandusky has the best athlete coming back in quarterback Alexander and they return two running backs but do lose some wide receivers. However, I think they will contend and make the playoffs again next year.

Competitive Balance enrollment numbers D2, 420 Tiffin Columbian D3, 338 Norwalk D3, 320 Clyde D3, 317 Sandusky D3, 282 Perkins D4, 267 Bellevue
With competitive balance TC is bigger than Lima Sr (402) and Marion Harding (399)

The competitive balancing enrollment I know was to help balance out the schools in bigger cities EX: Toledo Central Catholic, but instead it will hurt the smaller schools as well like TC who has a large open enrollment population. I hope the OHSAA gets this right, good idea but a lot of damage to smaller towns with smaller schools.

One of the reasons for CB is to adjudicate fairness between public schools that choose to take part in Open Enrollment and those that don't. It has nothing to do with the total number of open enrollment students, just the number of open enrollment students that came into the district in the 7th grade and later, that play team sports.

The CB was designed in an attempt to deal with private schools as well as open enrollment schools who benefit from athletes who enroll after JH and even more for those who enroll after high school. The idea was to try and even the playing field. In most cases I doubt it works and in some schools will find a way around it.

The offers are starting to come in for Sandusky qb Javez Alexander. He has Eastern Kentucky, Bowling Green, Army, and Georgetown. I think Sandusky will obviously be tough to beat with him.You should see the crop of young running backs they will have in backfield with Alexander. Speed, Speed, Speed

Interesting to see this order. I'm guessing we'll know more before the league play starts. Should be a tough league. I would have Perkins 5 then Columbian 6. If I would guess early on. Four old NOL teams and two SBS teams in a very tough lake division. Should be a fun league to watch this year. Good luck to all.

I'm looking forward to Lake Division football going forward. This is something that a lot of people thought would happen several years ago - Clyde and Perkins moving to the NOL. Now the NOL has moved to the SBC and Clyde and Perkins are in the same division as most of the old NOL schools.
Once we get to the SBC schedule, this division could become a bloodbath. I think that most people are agreeing that Sandusky, the Fliers and Bellevue are at the top, but if the other 3 recover to levels recently seen - look out. Now those games among these schools count instead of being non-conference affairs. Growing up in Clyde watching Sandusky in the old Buckeye Conference with Ross High, Elyria, Findlay and the rest, I never thought that Clyde and Sandusky would one day be of similar size to play in the same conference.

bellevuebuckeye, I thought I read somewhere that they will be done next year, maybe in time for track. Don't know if that's true or not but I hope that is true because they need it will bad. A bunch of my friends and I like to sit up top and some times when the students start jumping up and down we always felt like the whole thing was going to collapse. I felt like I should be wearing my parachute when they start.
