I guess we could say something like: 2016 MLB First year players are available to roster in the 2017 Minors Draft Instead of the current 2016 MLB first year draft players can be drafted in 2017 you could also just put a moratorium on sending down traded players for _____ amount of time after the start of the season it would force an owner who drafts minor leaguers to eat up roster spots and at least there would be a bit of a built in penalty for doing it without overtly banning the move...say no traded player demotions til May...that would be something to meditate on I think what would happen with this is that players who are currently in the MLB but are under 2 years of service would be drafted in the minors draft. Sure, that leaves more prime minors to be drafted, but it forces people with crap teams (me) to pick players for the "now" in the minors draft instead of for the future. I would have to draft someone like... Michael Fulmer over Rafeal Devers (I'm not dropping either of them, don't worry). Keeping the active draft first I can select players for my team now and then worry about the future in the minors draft where I can select a 17 year old for my first pick and not worry if he'll contribute to my team this year. |

Simple as possible for me would be Players arent available until the following years Minors Draft, if only because I've selfishly already spent a good amount of time thinking it through. It also, just seems to make sense. Maybe I'm in the minority here. Thinking about potential loopholes in having the Minors Draft first will keep me busy for a little bit. I'm sure there's probably something there. I initially obviously worry about minimizing the Active Draft in the same way we are discussing how it is currently ran minimizing the Minors Draft. Either way this goes, I'm of the opinion that this shouldn't take effect, if it does, until next years 2 round Minors Draft. I think we are too close to the draft...and we have a 5 round Minors Draft this year. |

and we always have the option of voting teams who tank off the island at the end of the year haha. Going into our 4th year with all of the original owners, is a rare bird....... I'm hesitant to kick anyone out.......although I might start voting myself out if more people on my team die. |

seems like we are spending a lot of time trying to manage a problem that hasn't happened yet I'd prefer to solve this now, when we are talking about Moniaks and Senzels, instead of when a Harper or a Strasburg comes along and makes it a much bigger and likely more heated topic. idk, it sucks sometimes as the commish, if I see a loophole, I have to fix it. If all y'all see a loophole, you can feast. I want to eat too sometimes. Don't get me wrong tho, if I see something, and say something, and it isn't decided to be fixed, I'm gonna eat. |

does anyone know how many games a player has to play at a certain position to gain eligibility? i'm looking but i cannot find this nugget

I believe its 10 in the current season to add eligibility. Not sure though how many you had to have the year before to keep it for the next season

I believe its 20 in the previous year. Yes, yes it is: Positional Eligibility for Batters Additional positional eligibility for Batters occurs when one of the following conditions is met: Games played at a position during last season: 20 Games played at a position during current season: 10 (The eligibility will take place on the 11th day, even if no game is played that day) NOTE: For a batter to be considered eligible for Outfield (OF) he must play at least ten games in any outfield position (RF, CF, LF or any combo of the three, totaling 10). For example, at one point in 2009, Gary Sheffield (DH) played four games in Left Field and six games in Right Field. Keepers selected, pm'd south a couple minors drops, voted in poll and waiting. I did not discuss the poll before voting but I think we've had that discussion before. I was in favor of two-week playoffs then and still am today.
