Saying he doesn't dump, when he's a leading dumper. AND he gave no specifics just generalities. I provided a FACT in support of his generality. That he knew better than any other example. It is a online chat, not everyone has to give you facts and not everyone cares about yours when many are fabricated in your head. I happen to agree that winning in 8th grade means nothing for a varsity. Ask Clear Forks basketball coach. "It is a[sic] online chat". In post #62, your first truthful statement. Anyone who is knowledgeable agrees with that Junior High basketball results are not necessarily a precursor of success at the varsity level. You cannot point out where I have said anything to the contrary. A year ago at this time I pointed out why Willard's 8th grade lost in the NOL Tourney after dominating the 7th grade Tourney.

Is huron the worst "good team" in the area or the best "bad team" in the area? How can you beat Vermilion on Friday and lose to Willard on Saturday? I guess that's why you play the game.

Great post Scarlet! It doesn't involve arguing to the death the relative strength of the Willard 7th & 8th grade classes from 1992, so in my humble opinion it fits perfectly on the SBC Bay thread. (You asked...) Congrats to Willard on the win. As for Huron, wow....what the hell.

Mcm, Sometimes I think that maybe it's because they spend to much time and energy on winning a game when everyone thinks, or knows, that you are going to lose and maybe not enough on your next opponent but there's also because that it's a rivalry game you do spent a lot of energy to win you just don't have enough for the next day games. Maybe that is what happen to Huron or maybe Willard just got lucky, take your pick on this.

^lucky would imply Huron didn't come to play and Willard caught them on a horrible night. Huron was up 13 after 3, no luck to it, Willard simply took it to them in the 4th.

Vermilion was the better team. They obviously got some big buckets from the outside but they also did a good job of feeding the post and getting some buckets down low. Sandusky doesn't run any type of structured offense besides a pick and roll, which you can do when you have guys that can beat you off the dribble which they do. However, you need to throw some different looks at teams, especially down the stretch. Vermilion executed a well designed out of bounds play and got the win. It was a quality high school basketball game. I hope they play again in the tournament.

Alex Gezo hit a corner 3-pointer as time expired for the winner. The 3 ties Gezo with Brian Woods for career 3s made at Oak Harbor with 106 3-pointers.

So now that the regular season has ended, what are some thoughts on the season?
Huron was a disappointment for me, I expected way more. Vermilion was about what I expected. Margaretta was a tad of an underachievement but not bad. Edison was about what I expected. Oak harbor was a bit of a surprise for me. Port Clinton was where I thought they’d be. Willard was where I thought they’d be too. Weaker schedule but still same results as last year.

Agree with your assessments...
Biggest disappointment: Huron. By far.
Biggest surprise: Edison. They really competed with the leagues best.
Rest are about right. You pull arguably the best big man in the league from Margaretta and they’re a .500 team. Willard similar but not as good at other spots. Oak Harbor had a very nice year but not on same level as Vermilion.

Willard exactly where most thought they'd be. Next year a .500 season should be a reasonable goal.

To be fair portwalk, Willard ended with 5 wins this year so to go .500 they’d have to win 6 more games next year, that seems pretty reasonable to me. The only freshman I believe that really got a ton of playing time was the pinkston kid. So win 11 next year then I’d say the following year 15-18 wins would be reasonable too.

Portwalk is stuck in upper 80’s mindset. This is 2018 with 30 people in the stands and an area talent level very low.

Nothing to do with 1980’s just with Willard’s schedule and the noise about regionals in the future 11 wins should not be a goal but more of a requirement in their development I would think...

I wouldn’t say their schedule is as weak as you’re portraying, it may be weaker than in past years just due to the NOL thing but vermilion and oak harbor are still solid as well as Edison and Huron and in non conference they still have Lexington, Madison, Shelby, upper. Looking at all that I think 11 is right for next year.

Vermilion is still the favorite next year in the Bay with that solid junior class.

You forget the Willard "experts" said it was a bad thing for the program to play freshman up. Keep them all playing together as a team until theiy're Juniors then put them all on Varsity as a group.

Don't forget the Bay Division will become more difficult when Lex, Mansfield Senior and Madison join the Lake Division and a "big" school or two will move down to the Bay.

I guess I’ll just ignore WF as it wasn’t enough to troll me but then had to insult the Willard fans. The schedule still has HL, NSP, Plymouth etc... point being that throw in the Bay schedule and it is not nearly where it was in years past...

How many wins should Willard have next year then? 11 isn’t enough for you so you think 15? And you have brought up the schedule again but yet they still play Bellevue, Shelby(twice), and Norwalk so it’s not like they got rid of everyone.

I think vermilion wins next year again but the next couple teams I’m not sure who it will be. Who all does oak harbor have coming back?

All he does is insult people that don’t agree with his JMHO, yet that’s apparently ok on this site 👍
