I would think Willard should get 5 or 6 wins. Can't see them beating Oak Harbor or Huron, but that schedule has some real soft spots. One thing I forgot/didn't know was that Willard went 3-7 during Charlie Frye's junior year. 2-8 Sophomore Year Lots of opportunities to fine tune the passing game in those years given they were usually down

Late followup but just talked directly with someone in know and legally qualified, they told me a 2 word answer that would get censored when it comes to Willard not hiring Fox b/c of legal issues.
'It's an excuse, everyone knows schools are insured when it comes to lawsuits anyway'
Not my opinion, a horse's mouth. Anyway... Go Flashes!

Also as far as kids joining late, the best chances at a couple of wins are early in the season so you'd darn well better play the best players right off the bat. Want to suspend them for 3-4 games, make them the last 3-4 of the season. That way they're healthy for hoops.
Everyone wins.

Willard is where they belong despite the state of their football program. They are 20 boys smaller than Oak Harbor and 23 smaller Edison (the two next smallest schools in the Bay). Furthermore, the Bay would have been 5 schools and the River would have been 9 schools if Willard stayed. That makes zero sense compared to 6-6-8 for a multitude of reasons. Also worth noting, when this all started Willard was offended to be in the River then they realized what it could do for their program. It wasn't too long ago they were asking the original SBC (with Clyde and Perkins) to join before this all went down. Lastly, ask a school like Danbury what they thought about having to play Willard - 55 boys vs 169 boys last year when they played. Cool numbers, but you didn't dig deep into the numbers. I, and my fellow top brass of Willard have dug super deep into the numbers. This is why we knew Hawkins had to go and why we've been phasing the football team out and starting up the Soccer program (and built a cool field for them, disguised as a football field for a few years). You forgot to look at demographics. I will help you delve in and hopefully all Willard people see this so we can officially cancel this football program for good.
As you mentioned he boys enrollment is 169. Good information, as you may have read in this thread 30% of Willard's enrollment is now Hispanic. We the top brass saw this coming long ago. Now take 30% from 169. What do you get? 118. 118 is the real pool of talent that Willard is choosing from to field a football team, don't kid yourself and think it's not, find me all the Lopez, Gomez, Ramirez, etc on the Football team, those kids are on the Soccer team. Meanwhile Willard's Soccer team is deficient in last names like Parrot, Smith, and Johnson.
In reality Willard is fielding a Football team with 118 kids to choose from and D7 starts at 116. We basically have a D7 football enrollment and are forced to play in D5. Recipe for disaster. So why fund it? That's why the goal is to disband it. Meanwhile the Soccer program is fielding a team from a pool of 51 kids, now wouldn't it be amazing to get to field the Soccer program from a pool of 169 kids? YES.
Do you hear me Willard? It is time to disband the football program for good and put all resources towards the Soccer Program. This Soccer Program has the potential to be amazing, there is only one thing holding it back, the bag of bones Football team. The demographics have shifted and Friday Night SOCCER is what should be played in this town, all resources must be put towards the Soccer program, we are looking forward to building on to the stands to accommodate the huge crowds this Premier Soccer Program will be hosting in the near future. But it's all pending on the dismantling of the football program.
I close my eyes and I see
Willard 2023 State Champs in Soccer Willard 2024 State Champs in Soccer Willard 2025 State Champs in Soccer Willard 2026 State Champs in Soccer Willard 2027 State Champs in Soccer Willard 2028 State Champs in Soccer Willard 2029 State Champs in Soccer Willard 2030 State Champs in Soccer OHSAA makes new rule for 2031 bumping Willard up to D1 because they are so Premier. It will be called the Willard rule (when you are so amazing you have to get bumped all the way up to D1)
Willard 2031 State Champs in Soccer in D1 Willard 2032 State Champs in Soccer in D1
This is going to be AMAZING. I can't wait.
I'm just curious what has there soccer team done in Willard. I'm pretty sure football will be there for a LONG time. Get it? LOL

New Willard Football website at crimsonflashes.com. It's mostly done, there are a few other things I might do. Great job. One thing that really sticks out is that the football team hasn’t had a winning record in what? 15 years? Wtf Logically, How many wins this year? We all know the main reason. I know you do South.

You need to change that button on the right and say “make one parent happy”

You need to change that button on the right and say “make one parent happy” So, there is a parent with a kid in the program right now that doesn’t like Fox? Not that this matters because that ship sailed a long time ago but sounds like Fox was the right pick but someone had the power to say no, one parent?

I’d guess that comment isn’t about 1 parent, but the compilation of “one parent’’s over the years. And he's right. *Fixed

Less General Terms: Hawkins was a keeper but if you don’t play who they want you to play, that is your ticket outta here.

Well it’s easier to be direct when you’re anonymous like you pretty much are. Everyone knows me and I really don’t care as much as I used to so it’s not worth world wars, but I do still care. So... sometimes you’ve gotta read between some lines on my posts.

See, I can read between the lines. Still doesn’t make sense about why they never hired Fox because I heard that situation was many moons ago. Anyhow, the first game is in the books and it sounds like the flashes played well in the first quarter but slipped in the second and third. Sounds like the wiers kid came in and did a good job and marched them down the field for a quick score. They should match up a little better against plymouth this week, thinking willard by a couple scores.

I read on twitter this morning that Cooper was offered by D2 Urbana Univ . Hopefully the first of many. I imagine he'll be super motivated to show the college scouts he's got what it takes to be a D1 QB. Does he have a better shot at being a D1 QB or a D2 basketball player? As Tom Cruise said in risky business, looks like it is University of Illinois. Looks like better shot at D2 basketball.
