Sandusky is currently off to the best start in program history and they have won all but 3 games by double digits and they currently have one of the best players in State and they are still not getting respect it's teams in polls with multiple losses..

Just more proof that poles are worthless. The same if Sandusky was ranked 5th in the State and you were gleefully pointing that out.

In the Grande scheme of things poles have no barring on final outcome of season.. But what high school program and student athlete doesn't wanted too be recognized state wide as amongst the best in the state in there division.. If rankings didn't mean anything then why do they have polls??? Again those our lasting memories kids can take away for the rest of there lives and talk about for the rest of there lives.. and I'm not the one too boast or play off or try and get notoriety off any student athlete I try too bring a realistic perspective and speak facts when it needs too be spoken.. Sandusky does deserve too be ranked in top 10 they are undeafeted and has one if the best players in state.. What in my statement is not facts.. there are other teams in the polls with multiple losses.... They are good and the Rogers showdown will be a huge game. Unfortunately, people who vote look at the schedule. This just happens to be the year where many of the teams who are usually solid are a little down. Mansfield, lex, bowser, Norwalk, etc. The lake is awful this year basketball. It would be nice if Sandusky still played Huron and Willard. It’s not Sandusky’s fault teams are down that are usually solid but voters do consider records of their competition.

they're not ranked, but looking at the teams on that poll... they're really good... Rossford is not on there either and they are really good..

Only two solid teams on the schedule so far have been Lex and Glenville. Lake is very weak this year. The Rogers showdown will say a lot about Sandusky.

WF, I take great exception to your comment that Poles are worthless. I have many Polish friends that are hard working!! Sorry, I had to do this!! Sandusky is clearly one of the top 10 teams in the state, but the poll voters throughout the state mostly go with name recognition!

I dont think Sandusky is "clearly" one of the Top 10 D2 teams in the state, based simply on schedule and margin of victory. Additionally, I dont think Willard is one of the Top 10 D3 teams in the state, based on 1 loss to an average team and 1 loss to a decent team and a few other games where they didnt look Top Tenish. However, they remain in the Top 10 largely based on program reputation and brand established over the past 40 years.

Sandusky has been ranked in the past few years, so the argument that they don't have the name recognition can't be the reason. It also doesn't help that they only have 3 wins vs teams with a winning record.

Division II Record Points 1. St. Vincent-St. Mary (13) 12-3 159 2. Lutheran East (1) 13-1 110 3. Toledo Rogers 14-2 98 4. Trotwood-Madison (1) 13-2 95 5. Lima Shawnee (2) 15-0 93 6. Cincinnati Wyoming 15-0 81 7. Heath 16-0 65 8. Thornville Sheridan 14-2 53 9. Lancaster Fairfield Union 14-2 32 10. Jackson 15-2 30 Others receiving 12 or more points: 11, Plain City Jonathan Alder 18. 12, Chillicothe Unioto 12.
Heath Thornville Sheridan lancaster Jackson Jonathan Alder Unioto those teams all have losses and where is there quality of wins.. again Sandusky beat cleveland glenville at there gym.. the same Lutheran east team ranked third in current polls only best that team by 2 on a neutral site.. Sandusky has one of best players in state so for voters not to give this any credence is disrespectful.. I can remember in recent years Norwalk only having maybe 1 or 2 quality wins and being ranked number 1 and 2 in state.. Also the sbc and nol has produce state champions and regional qualifiers from conference over last 10 years.. I agree schedule not as strong but it's a thing called eye test also if your looking at all teams can they say every team d2 is clearly better than Sandusky even with multiple losses.. I think that would be a hard case for voters too win

Guy’s Sandusky was NOT a good team last year. The roster they have was basically there if I’m not mistaken. They have not beaten nor played teams as mentioned so out side looking in is right at this point.
Someone mentioned Norwalk keep in mind that Norwalk was a team led by Sophomores that took Toledo Whitmer to that limit in 2012 before they got the gaudy rankings your referring to and for good reason obviously

Look at that list. Where are the majority of the schools from? The major media markets in Ohio or just outside them. I don’t have a list of AP voters, but I’d guess that a lot of them are from those areas. Also, Glenville has 5 loses. I wouldn’t say that’s a impressive resume building win

The notion Sandusky was not a good team last year has no barring on rankings this year.. Rankings should not be based on what your team did last year or how prominent your program is evaluate teams based on what they currently are doing.. That's what's wrong in Ohio on so many different levels evaluations and rankings are based too much on politics and reputation instead of who's who.. At the end of the day it will be only one state chammpion the only team or program d2 who has stability and credence is Akron St V over the last 20 years they have been the definition of a premier program.. And Norwalk the years they had success with Ben and Jeff they did not have a world class schedule where they were beating too teams all around Ohio there senior year I can't remember them regular season beating any too team they loss a conference game.. yes they beat whiter at home there junior year but they didn't make a deep post season run.. over the past 5 years Sandusky has had good teams.. from 2015 until 2018 they were in district finals. And 2 of those years they went to regionals.. and had a 2 time all Ohio 1st team player so there program has been winning over past 5 years so where is there state recognition.. Last season they had and okay season they won 15 games so I wouldn't consider them a bad team they finished 2nd in the conference a bad team in my opinion is not having a winning season so this notion last year Sandusky were not a good team is totally wrong.. I think they underachieved with the talent they had.. But not many programs in Ohio in the senior class have 2 1000 point scorers.. Sandusky will have 2 Tahj Staveskie and Dylon Jones score over 1000.. Also this class has been winning since they been in 6th grade.. The issue is it's too many politics in Ohio facts.. Bc Tahj Staveskie is clearly showing he is one of the best players in the state.. You can't name a time in Ohio history where one of the best players in the state had his team 15-0 undeafeted and his or her team was not ranked in AP top 10 that's unheard of !!!!!

You can't name a time in Ohio history where one of the best players in the state had his team 15-0 undeafeted and his or her team was not ranked in AP top 10 that's unheard of !!!!! tearing this apart piece by piece,,, yes last year does have a little barring. if you return 5 starters from a 30-0 basketball team from 2018-19 into 2019-20 I am going to rate them #1 if they start off unbeaten. You have proved to me that you are worthy.. until someone shows me different you are #1..... Also if WLKR radio and WLEC radio was voting .. what would your thoughts be if they turned the other cheek to the area teams and voted for schools outside of their listening audience?? And you start off by saying last year shouldn't have any barring, then later tell us about sandusky's past??? if it has no barring to you then forget about their past... Here is a novel idea..lets break down Sandusky schedule... first off put this in your thought process... The Lake Division.. Norwalk is saving grace right now... combined record is 31-56 of teams not named Sandusky.. the entire Lake is 2-12 vs the Bay .. Sandusky does not play anyone from the Bay.. Sandusky's NON LEAGUE opponents to date.. Ashland 5-9, Madison 5-11, Glenville 5-4, Clearview 8-8, Ross 4-12, Bowsher 6-10 Lexington 9-6... total record of non league is 42-60.. total over all opponents record is 73-116 .. How excited do you feel about that??? I probably have done more work than a voter would do.. But posting how great they have been against well, less than superb competition isn't getting it... they have Oberlin coming up. and Rogers along with another battle with Norwalk.. Rogers is good,, Oberlin despite a 10-3 record is not all that, have seen them against Bay (one of their losses).. my Friend...its a small world..we are a little fish in a very very big pond....

Some of y'all comments not going too even entertain buffoonery.. 2nd if that's the scenario with Sandusky schedule go thru every too 10 team schedule in all divisions and use that same criteria of strength of schedule.. because there are plenty of teams who don't have quality wins or there opponents win loss records are not up too par.. Again answer my Is Tahj Staveskie one of the best players in state of Ohio? Everyone commenting answer that ?? And if so when. In recent memory have you seen a top player in state regardless of division have his team undeafeted 15-0 and his or her team is not ranked top 10 in state.. Let Norwalk play the same strength of schedule they play next year and be undeafeted they are gonna be top 5 in state.. Who has Willard beat?? They loss 2 games too mediocre teams.. Sandusky played there schedule and for the most part dominated there schedule no slip ups.. I'm speaking facts most of you on here are speaking from a place of hate and resentment.. Sandusky has over the past 5 years been one of the better programs In the region.. 4 district title games 2 regional appearances and 3 all Ohio performers.. Sandusly didn't come out of nowhere 2020 class been dominating area and around state for years now.. It's area coached and areas writer's should be in an uproar bc St Paul area school ranked with losses South central are a school ranked Willard areas school ranked.. Margaretta girls Bellevue girl's both ranked in state.. all those school I mentioned haven't played anyone so why don't they have same criteria around state... Those schools have not bear anyone they are all playing each other but yet they are ranked but Sandusky is not.. now the barometer for Sandusky is beating Rogers.. Who has Willard beat or st Paul stop with the hate.. It's bias politics and local media members like some of you on this forum hating against Sandusky facts

From what I hear, Staveskie played for a well known auu team and did well in several tournaments. He is one of the best players this area has seen. We had these same discussions about other solid players and how many have gone D1, none. Haraway outplayed him last year and we can all agree was the best player in the area and he ended up at Ashland. He had better size and physicality than staveskie. I just hope this kid doesn’t think he is a failure for possibly landing a division 2 scholarship. Can he play division 1, I don’t know but you would think he would be getting some attention based on numbers. No one can outwork this kid and I think that will propel him to be successful in life. He just needs to keep his head and academics in order.

Tahj Staveskie was coming off and injury last year nobody wants too take that into account.. Not making excuses but the kid missed all aau was not able too play all summer.. From my knowledge Tahj was not even supposed too possibly play his whole junior season or comeback late February from his initial diagnosis and surgery.. He worked extremely hard during his rehab process and got cleared right before the season. Coming off a major surgery he was out of basketball for 7 months.. Tahj from reports was never himself all season it took him almost march too get his legs back too feeling somewhat normal.. So this notion Brandon haraway outplayed Tahj let's put this in perspective.. Tahj beat Brandin 3 times as a sophmore and his freshman year they beat Brandon 2 times.. And the rankings are not legit they are too a who's who.. More than evaluating kids solely on there skills and ability.. I witnessed myself Tahj outplay other prominent guards in Ohio. I can recall and event in Columbus Tahj sophmore year Nike city series an event put on by All Ohio red.. Tahj was voted best player at event regardless of class.. and it was some of the top players in the state there representing all differing classes.. Prep hoops Ohio told me out of there mouth they rank kids not on skills but what offers and interest they are receiving from colleges.. So any kid who already as d1 offers or is getting recruited by D1 represent top tier of rankings and everything trickles down from that a system based off of that is not valid.. Every kid recrutimemt is different some kids are in position too get recruited early by the prominence of there high school programs or high school connections with college coaches or they may play for a high profile aau program where they are getting opportunities too get seen by college coaches.. This does not determine if a player is better than another player so with that being stated none of those rankings have validity.. And in my honest opinion I believe Haraway could have played at a Mac school and played d1.. I think he settled for Ashland a d2.. But who am I to tell a kid what he wants for his future.. But to @streaknation for you too state Tahj is a d2 caliber player is mind boggling do you watch college basketball it's a premium for guards too be skilled like Tahj and shoot the ball off the dribble like this kid can.. In my honest opinion I believe Tahj Staveskie is high major guard who should be in the big ten big East somewhere.. he has the size needs too get a little stronger.. But he can add size at a college program but the ability I seen this kid put on display is like none other in the state.. It's no other guard with Tahj range and ability too shoot off the dribble left and right ability too create space and his shot.. can run the screen and roll high level like the kid and athletic enough too finish in traffic.. the Kid has shown me alot this year I have been too majority of Sandusky games this season and this kid has shown me he is the real deal.. I don't know where @streaknation gets off that Tahj is a d2 guy if you really watch basketball on the highest levels you can see this kid has the game.. and as far as his recruitment I can't speculate I hear he has interest from some d1 schools.. But reach out too his coach or AD and ask the kid is not being recruited.. You can't be recruited by colleges if no college no about you facts.. If Tahj Staveskie had Ohio State and Michigan State and all the other big ten schools coming too his games and practices watching this kid play he would have some offers.. From my knowledge of what close ones too the kid told me is his recruitment is not up too par bc no college coaches are being contacted on his behalf.. If schools came and watched this kid's they would be impressed and I can see him getting offers but it's not happening that's why he does not have the offers.. And for the notion he does not have the grades the kid is a qualifier so let's dead that notion

45 of the 50 on that list are taller than Tahj. Averaging 30 PPG in high school is not on the top of the list for DI coaches looking for a PG to run his offense. Tahj is a shooting guard in a short PG's body. Difficult to over come that. Good DI programs are looking for a physical 6-3 to 6-5 player for their PG these days.

And for the notion he does not have the grades the kid is a qualifier so let's dead that notion not going to read your novel, i skimmed over it.. im simply going to ask you a few simple questions... #1. have you ever gone through a recruiting process with either yourself or another athlete? #2. how many other teams outside of our area have you seen live? #3 Have you ever had a conversation with a D-1 college coach to pick his brain on what he looks for??? Now lets talk about your sky high athlete for a moment...if you could i want his GPA I want his family background I want his coaches view on what kind of kid he is.. I don't care one bit about his 52 point game or that he averages 30 points a game...that doesn't mean a thing to me.. Can you put a highlight video of him on youtube.. If you can do this.. i will help you out.. If you think this kid is Big Ten potential and he is not being seen.. Lets get him looked at.. This is not my first rodeo with college recruiting.. been doing it for ages... But this is what I will tell you that i tell a lot of parents... IF YOUR KID is Division I college material I should be able to walk into the gym during a game, without ever knowing who he is and be able to pick him out based on his athletic ability .. It should be above and beyond everyone else.. anyways if you get all that info and message me on here a link to the video and all the other info i asked for..i'll get you this kid looked at...

Colin will tell you himself a top 10 ranking doesn’t mean anything. He’s looking to win a conference title and then setting sights onto a sectional and possible district title.

And for the notion he does not have the grades the kid is a qualifier so let's dead that notion My assumption is based off of statistics and prior history. How many guys from Sandusky or even the area have went on to play Division 1 basketball right out of high school? (not many) I can only think of Scott May and Demar Moore from Sandusky off the top of my head. There have been some others but needed to go to JUCO first. (Redding) Also, I don't buy the whole excuse of coaches are not reaching out and making connections. If you are good enough, they will find you. Do I hope he finds a D1 scholarship, absolutely, but one would ask, would you rather sit the bench for a few years at a D1 school, or go to a smaller school and play right away. It depends on situation and coaching style. The one area that I do see that could make him a D1 guard is his range and ability to create space. Once again, I hope the academic side of things are a focus as well, at times people in Sandusky only see the athlete side of things in the term student athlete.
