First week of conference play and there are some interesting matchups Monroeville @ Mapleton Plymouth @ SC Western @ Crestview NL @ St Paul Thoughts on the games this week? Monroeville/Mapleton - Could go either way Plymouth/SC - This will be the first test for SC, Plymouth is a physical team Western/Crestview - I'd say that no one in the Conference had a tougher non Conf. Schedule than WR, I look for this to be a competitive game. NL/St. Paul - Running clock

A lot of bad high school football teams out there A lot of good high school football players are never stepping on the field because they are too busy specializing in a single sport or too busy sitting on the couch playing video games. You are right....specializing in one sport to end up playing D3.

Willard taking on two FC powerhouses in back to back weeks!! SC has some athletes but they are not huge up front. There should be some scoring Friday, but I'm with Scott, I'll be shocked if Willard doesn't win by two touchdowns. Consider me shocked.

What constitutes a "good paying job" for a kid home from college? $10+ per hour? For a college kid, 10 an hr, sure that’s good. For someone trying to raise a family.... not going to cut it. I then beg to ask why did you start a family if you know you can’t financially support that family off your wages alone..... like I said this topic opens up about 20 different doors. Well, they shouldn't have to look to hard. There are more jobs that people right now in this area (From Mansfield to Norwalk) and I'd say most of them would start higher than 10 an hour. You are right, tough to support a family on 10 an hour.

Why does that name sound familiar. Did he coach at South Central or something like that. He was OC at SC for a while. Then has been OC at Colonel Crawford

The job has been posted to the OHSAA site. Thanks Fan9, I keep forgetting to check the OHSAA site. So that makes it official that WR is looking for a new head coach. Pretty late in the game isn't it?

Well I will check with either his dad, uncle, or bother since we all belong to the same church. As soon as I find out I'll let everyone know. The job has been posted to the OHSAA site.

I heard he stepped down over a month ago. Rumor is they may need an entire staff. Not sure what they are waiting for. I have heard the exact same thing, but havent seen anything "official" in the paper or on their website.

What I've heard out of NL - They had their top target but there were no teaching positions available and the Super wasn't willing to get creative.

Picabo, Did anybody ask what the hold up was on not hiring a coach. I couldn't make the meeting, I had another important meeting to attend. This is starting to sound like the school board of old, dragging their feet and getting to the concerns of the kids. At least that's how I feel. Any chance they are waiting to hear if any teachers are retiring or leaving the district so that they would be able to hire their top candidate?

Willard has at least 4 more pages of off the court discussion than they do wins. Most of them jr. high. Say this in Allen Iverson practice voice. Most of them jr. high. Hopefully 2018-19 is different. That's been said since 2007

The only way they nailed it is if they offered to Fox and he accepted.

A proven, winning, football coach would pay for himself rather quickly in revenue brought in by a winning football program as well as overall interest in the sport. Seems like a no brainer, hopefully Norwalk is able to figure something out...would hate to see them have to go to their second or third choice. I think a decision makers argument against "creating" a position is that the money would come out of the General Fund, while any success or revenue created by a sports team would go to the athletic fund. While, I get what you are saying and agree with you, I think that is the argument for NOT creating a position.

SC with the blowout last night, I was shocked to see that. I wasn’t. Coach Smith has lost his team. Don’t think they make it out sectionals depending on the draw So, what changed for St. Paul, who was playing decent ball to start the year?

I think you hit the nail on the head on the top 3. St. Pete CC St. Paul With everyone else rounding it out. I would go with CC getting to the regional over St. Pete. St. Pete is missing Campbell and it will be noticed in the District Final matchup. St Pete doesn't seem to be missing Campbell very much so far being 11-0 and still has plenty of time to adjust before the District Final game. You are right, 11-0 is 11-0.

Between running Mac out and now this rediculous bull with Gray. Who in their right minds would want to coach at Norwalk? I'd run far far away from this dumpster fire. I'll let those in charge know that you're not a candidate for either job. One kid and his mommy raising a stink in basketball. And one football coach who under-achieved in his 9 years here (again, name the 1 game that Norwalk won during his tenure that they should not have won?). Good coaches don't grow on trees. For someone to have a winning record at Norwalk and get fired is surprising. However Norwalk has the opportunity to hire a guy that has went to the playoffs multiple years at Tiffin Calvert. However, current track record says they'll hire the guy from Mapleton who hasn't achieved near what Fox has...
