They had a real opportunity to make great strides to build a program but the powers that be decided they had to hire the "best educator." I assume this mean another person who works 8-2 and goes home, having no real impact on the school district. I hope that's not how you feel about all of us that don't believe we have the skill or knowledge set to coach a sport alongside our teaching job. It's not. Just a bad situation in the SC district right now and that starts at the very top.

Do I have to answer this honestly? Read you loud and clear, sportsfan - another year of Troy being Troy? They had a real opportunity to make great strides to build a program but the powers that be decided they had to hire the "best educator." I assume this mean another person who works 8-2 and goes home, having no real impact on the school district.

I started believing you, sportsfan, when Scott joined the thread. Any hope for progress in G-wich with this new BMIC? Do I have to answer this honestly?

I know it hasn't been in any papers yet, but Hinkle is no longer the HC at South Central. He will be replaced by last year's OC, Cory Fickheisen (sp?)

I live in the district. It has been an interesting few years over here in large part due to the hire of the current superintendent. It has become quite clear to most people that they made a bad hire. Board members aren't willing to admit it unfortunately and I can't speak to the legalities of relieving a public school employ of their duties. As for the principal wrestling kids in the hallways, probably being a bit overblown, still poor judgment by the principal. Teachers are becoming fed up with the current administration as it sits, that information reaches the community, and you have what you have going on now.

Haven't seen Word One when it comes to reporting this in any of the local news outlets. Even if there wasn't a scandal, coverup, or a spat involved, the Reflector of the Ashland T-G would at least have had a blurb somewhere about Hinkle either stepping down (and the board officially accepting his resignation) or being non-renewed (also an official, public BOE action). Methinks this rumor is just another nothingburger. I can assure you that Hinkle has stepped down. The job was posted, but I can't find it now...of course....

Rumor has it the South Central Football coach resigned this morning. Kind of late to the game in finding a good replacement. Has anyone else heard this?

The FC is going to be a lot of fun this year. I think anyone could beat anyone on any given night. There is probably only one, maybe two no doubt lock wins in the league this year. I'm looking forward to catching as many games as I can!

Where would you rank these teams in the pre-season as we start to ramp up the basketball season? South Central won last year but lost a couple of Seniors that will likely be replaced by Freshman.
1. Western Reserve 2. New London 3. South Central 4. Mapleton 5. Crestview 6. Plymouth 7. Monroeville

Makes it tough for guys like us that loved those days and those feelings. Yeah we need to just change our mindset, let those days go and set new goals and hopes. For me with Willard it starts with a .500 football record (no matter how we get it. Tomato can or not). Basketball the goal every year is to compete for a league title and at least make it to districts. Those are my goals and hopes personally and I think Willard can achieve both within 1-2 years for both teams. IMO and my opinion doesn't mean much. Willard basketball should not have issues competing for league titles in the SBC, nor should they have a problem reaching the districts year in year out. Though that goal could be delayed if they fire Long before he gets a chance to do those things in the SBC. If Willard blows it all up before the SBC era, it will take much longer to be competitive in the league.

CC v. SE will be the game of the week in the N10. SE hasn't really played anyone, their opponents are a combined 1-15. CC was poised to go into OT with Wynford. I look for this game to be close, with CC coming out on top.
