Any word on the South Central coaching search? I'd put down good money that SC wont have a team this fall.

South Central will be looking for a new coach. Trojans are in the process of hiring both a football and basketball coach. I'm sure they will get some quality applicants.

I hope they bring the hammer down on these parents. What an embarrassment for South Central. What is normally the case, if they are that bad it is because no one has ever been the hammer. That's a fact, the administration has created this monster and have allowed it for years, not just basketball either. All sports.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen something like this before mid season in this area. Parents all over are getting bad and need to be addressed by administrations quickly. Declining officials and declining interests in coaching are creeping up. I hope they bring the hammer down on these parents. What an embarrassment for South Central.

I heard that Monroeville wanted to be done so they could claim a share of the FC Title and wanted no part of Crestview (which IMO Crestview would have won by at least two TD's). People I talked to said that Crestview was really looking forward to playing at Monroeville but since they turned their equipment in even though the game was scheduled for 10/30 Crestview had to go searching for another week 10 game. I don't think that Monroeville should have any claim of the title for this act since they ducked Crestview and it should become a forfeit with the FC Title going to St. Paul & Crestview. The only thing the Crestview people were told was that their coach collected all equipment after their playoff loss and was done even though it was voted that all teams played the remaining game if not still in the playoffs. If this is the case and the Monroeville AD was on board, then I assume there is no way the Monroeville coach can keep his job.

What do you mean by what they try to do? If you mean schematically, weren't they a prolific offense just a year or two ago with the same stuff? Penalties with beat the best of them. Sounds like a big problem. I'll preface this with I've never been a coach and I don't want to be but they seem to be asking a young QB to do too much. Put the kid in situations to succeed. Their o-line is huge, they have the leading returning rusher in the league. Ask your young QB to be the difference 10-15 times per game, not 30+.

Really surprised SC is 0-4. Thought they sort of turned the corner a couple years ago. They have some really good athletes and good size. Something has got to give at NL. Can't be that bad for that long. Why? I've been to a few SC games. Not all that surprising when you see what they try to do. I'd bet they are the most penalized/undisciplined team in the conf. I would imagine they average about 150 yards of penalties per game, typically a couple personal fouls/unsportsmanlike. They will likely be 0-6, they have Crestview and WR the next two weeks.

Ply 42 Mon 28 AC 21 SC 7 AM 7 NL 6 Nobody, and I mean NO-BODY, in the Firelands Conference or elsewhere refers to Ashland Mapleton as "AM." In circles dating back to the formation (consolidation) of that school district (generally) and their joining the Firelands (in 1963, particularly), they are Mapleton (proper abbrev. = Map.). This was VERY important in the early days of the F.C. (way before your time) when Milan (Mil.) and Monroeville (Mon.) were also members. Milan and Berlin Heights merged to form Edison in 1968 costing the conference a member. NSP was granted entry at that time. AC is (and has always been) accepted for Ashland Crestview. This decision dates to their joining the conference (w/Plymouth) in 1982. Thanks for clearing that up

When is the last time SP won the Firelands? Do they usually exceed expectations or fall below expectations? Depends on who you ask.

Then apply to be the coach....obviously you can do better. You clearly don’t understand how you get coaching jobs so I’ll help you A) There has to be an opening B) if there is an opening the head coach does the hiring and typically hires someone they know or someone else knows C) if the Head coach position is open then go ahead submit your resume to the AD, who is only going to hire someone that he knows or someone else knows Appreciate you clearing that up for me. I should have went about it a different way, instead of being a douche. I just don't understand why everyone wants to bang on the coach. Mike Smith isn't a bad coach. The current climate of HS sports is blame the coach, blame the refs, not little johnny who didnt listen in the huddle. Also, I would argue most people who "blame the coach" rarely know anything about coaching.

I’ve been to a lot of games in the FC this season and been impressed and not impressed by many things coaches have done but there has only been a couple coaches I can say that I am disappointed in every time I go to watch their team play. As I went to watch the last game of the south central vs. St. Paul game yesterday I was hoping that this game would change what I thought about the St. Paul coaching staff. But this game only made it worse. I feel sincerely bad for St. Paul because the coaching obviously does not match up with the players talent. St. Paul’s offense is stagnant. The substitutions are not as near good as where they should be. St. Paul has lost many close games due to coaching and I hate to Blame it on the coaches but at this point it is quite obvious that is why. Congratulations to Western Reserve on the undefeated season and conference championship. They deserved it! Then apply to be the coach....obviously you can do better.

Gettin' hot in here lol. So anyway, is south Central a senior laden team ? Is this the reason for their success so far or are they young and someone that will contend next year also? They will be in the same position next year. lose some important seniors but a lot of the players are younger.

With some of the teams in d7 getting into the playoffs with records of 4-6 & 5-5, it would be an injustice if SC didn't make it at say...7-3. But, I see them finishing at 6-4 anyway. I would say there is zero chance they finish 6-4

well if south central plays well they might sneak in because there are 4 blanchard valley teams in there, arlington, mccomb, leipsic and pandora gilboa and mccomb beat arlington last week other than that game, all 4 bvc teams have to play and beat each other up and there could be a spoiler for these teams liberty benton.and if south central beats mapleton, western reserve then play st.paul at home and beat them well south central coild sneak in. If South Central beats St. Paul, they are in.

Here is how I view the league
St. Paul Everyone Else (any of these teams could beat each other on a given night) New London
SC being 5-0 is great for Coach Fick and the community, very cool to see! They are in a very tough region, I'd say they have to be 8-2 to get in the playoffs
St. Paul is St. Paul in the FC until someone beats them
WR non conf schedule was extremely tough, I'd argue that most teams in the FC would have been 0-3 with the same schedule. Played well against crestview, I was at this game (should have won, two overthrows to wide open receivers and a mis kicked onside kick that was recovered by WR with 6mins to go that was overturned) and handled NL
Mapleton will host a playoff game
Monroeville down year

A question we all are wondering! After the non conference schedule, I didn't have faith. I thought, let's see what happens versus Plymouth. Then I thought that Monroeville will be the first "real" test. Now, after a 5-0 start, I'm interested. Who would have thought I'd be looking forward to the SP VS SC game!? I'm so happy for the kids, community, school, and the conference. As they say, steel sharpens steel. So hopefully they can continue to make the league more competitive overall. Congrats SC on a fast start to 2018. I was in the same boat as you. Though I think Mapleton should not be overlooked, but give credit where credit is due and SC is off to a hot first half. They are in a very tough region. 7-3 and they could be the odd man out, but if they were in mapletons region, they'd probably be hosting a playoff game.

You really should lose the Haas slogan, this is football and that was 30 years ago. When you win 0-3 games a year over the last decade ppl aren't naysayers, they are fans that are tired of 0-3 wins a year. The naysayers have long stopped caring about the program. Willard should be thankful they still have fans that aren't parents, and stop attacking the ones that stick around. Good win as I said, and SC Trojans are no joke so let's win at least 5-6 this year. SC opponents combined record 8 - 9 Plymouths wins are against two teams that are 0-4 Willards wins are against Plymouth and Lakota Crestline is 1-3 (beat 0-4 vanlue) Danbury is 2-2 (beat 0-4 vanlue and 1-3 dola hardin northern) IF SC wins this week I'll back off and I hope they do, good for the program.
