Who you got Ontario has dropped two of last 3, and both wins are against Lex who lost 12 seniors prolly 9 which started 5 playing in college. Then beat a much smaller school in Cardington. Not much improvement in the Ontario team besides at QB.

Ontario used to go to a large indoor track meet at Eastern Michigan U. Winning it once and placed high a couple of times. Once during a relay the announce said, "Leading going into the bell lap is the team from Ontario Canada". LOL, that would be one heck of a big school.
There's a town on the Ohio side of Ohio River just North of Weirton called Toronto, I've always thought the 2 should play each other.

There's a town on the Ohio side of Ohio River just North of Weirton called Toronto, I've always thought 2 should play each other. If only the two schools were a good size match, that'd be fun! I remember ages ago, I was helping my uncle scout potential playoff rivals for St. Paul, and we went into hill country to watch Toronto @ Cadiz. Later, we watched Toronto get beat by Delphos St. John in a snowy, early-round playoff game. Itty-bitty towns w/ itty-bitty schools. Cadiz High doesn't even exist anymore; it was consolidated into Harrison Hills CSD with Jewett-Scio and Freeport Lakeland in '99. It feels like a whole different lifetime since then...

^^^^ For some of the kids playing tonight it was a whole different lifetime. They weren't around yet.

Ontario and Toronto are 2 different stories. In 1990 Toronto had a population of 6000 and Ontario had 4000. Today Toronto has 4000 and Ontario 6000.
Back aways, I believe Clear Fork played Cadiz.

^^^^ For some of the kids playing tonight it was a whole different lifetime. They weren't around yet. I think that's true for all of them. This year's seniors were born in '98 at earliest, and this was around '96 or '97 - I only know that because it was before Perkins first made the playoffs, losing to Aurora in the first round in '98. Some of their younger coaches were in diapers still, I imagine.

Ontario loses 21-17 in the end. Ontarios defense has not improved the last few games.

A surprising result here. You guys don't seem to be getting much bang for your buck over there.

Easy to walk around campus as the big man when you have big time athletes come through, then when the cupboard is bare you bail. I say good riddance.

The years in the NCC where we were able to pad our record and break individual records didn't hurt either.

A surprising result here. You guys don't seem to be getting much bang for your buck over there. I'd hate to live in the same house with such a hate monger. EIGHT dropped passes by Ontario receivers in the game. A big NU O-line wore down a smallish defense for Ontario. Ontario went ahead twice in the 4th quarter but couldn't stop the NU run game and they answered twice. When Ontario scored a TD with 6 minutes left in the 4th I knew they would lose. I've seen many years of football at Ontario that had teams that didn't know how to win close games. All else is immaterial until the culture changes.

As bad as you think he was/is, he's better than any coach in the history of Ontario football other the the first one and coach V. If you thought before you typed you would know it takes more than one "big time athlete" to win. There are 22 positions and special teams. The most dominate team in Ontario history didn't have a single player that played college football at any level.

When you say he's one of the top three coaches in the history of Ontario football, are you basing that on his past success, or on what he has done at Ontario? Is it fair to call him one of the best coaches in Ontario history when he hasn't really had much success at Ontario yet? Also, for my curiosity, what was the most dominant team Ontario had? I'm not too familiar with their history beyond the last 15-20 years.

I'm not too familiar with their history beyond the last 15-20 years. Clarification. Did not say top 3, said 3rd best. Ontario has had 2 very good coaches and a bunch of not very good ones. Very easy to be 3rd best. There have been 2 teams in Ontario history to win 10 regular season games. This one averaged 41ppg, averaged 350 yards rushing/game, 8.5 yards/rush. In all cases more than any team in the state that year. Two running backs gained over 1000 yards, one average 11yds/carry, the other averaged 8yds/carry. The defense gave up 5.8ppg. Seven of the games, the starters only played half the game.

And if you read my post before you typed instead of set off on your usual tear to proclaim yourself the final word on every subject, you would realize I said athleteS. You are the one stuck on DW. Galion's playoff teams had several good playerS on them which is why I said athleteS.
