Now that the 2017 season is officially over with all of the area teams out of it, what are the thoughts heading into 2018? One more football season with North Union before they are replaced with Shelby. Who will be the early favorite???

Looks like Willard Fillmore has logged in and already voted for his Ontario Warriors.

Im a Harding guy but Pleasant brings back way too much fire power. I think Harding will have 2 sub 500 seasons then compete for the league when the current 8th graders are in 10th grade. Pleasant wins the MOAC before they jump to the N10. Yep you read that right the N10. Also hearing possible communication about a league consisting of MH, Delaware, BV, Big walnut, Mt Vernon, Mansfield Sr, Madison Comp and Lexington. For now just hear say but wheels are turning.

Pleasant to the N10? Good luck. If big, bad Galion was too much competition for them they sure as heck won't have anything to do with Pleasant. Do you really think that Wynford would allow a school into that conference who could consistently beat them in football? I also find it highly unlikely that Pleasant is going to enter a conference full of smaller schools that bye and large don't field soccer, tennis, or wrestling teams.

Only if Carey, Mohawk, and Seneca East go elsewhere as has been rumored before. The playing season has ended, and the conference re-alignment season on NCOAST has officially begun. I love H.S. football!!

I love H.S. football!! Even if that scenario happens, what other 2 schools would be joining them? They aren't going to become the 6th member of a 6 team conference. Keep in mind that those schools would need to offer soccer, wrestling, and tennis. This is a non starter.

If that scenario and the other things in Eagles nest's post happen, that would mean the MOAC was going the way of the NOL. Other changes probably going on where ever Carey, Mo, and SE are going. There would be bloody dominoes all over the place!

It would shock me if that took place. I can see a conference with BV, Hayes, and BW in it no problem. However, I would expect it to contain schools in it from around the Columbus area not clear up in Mansfield. More likely in the Marysville or New Albany area or some other OCC teams(not our OCC). Allegedly, the problem that Pleasant and BV have is that the MOAC is expanding northward with Ontario and Shelby. Why would either school leave for a conference to travel farther north? Also, Pleasant is no longer a rural school district like a CC or a BC. They are larger and more diversified now. They just wouldn't fit. Why would they join a conference that doesn't offer all of the sports that they have? Wrestling is a pretty big deal there. Perhaps even more so than b ball.

Also heard about new conference you’re talking about, don’t know if it would ever happen. Would be fun though!

North of Shelby, East of I-75 and west of Lorain.

Although there are always league option talks, I have not heard anything about Mansfield, Madison and Lexington looking to leave the current OCC and join a league with more driving and less rivalries. Any talks right now, even if they are whispers, are and have been about becoming more localized.

John Brady has retired as Marion Harding football coach, great person and liked him as a coach. Wonder if DC Slater will get head coaching job now or not.

No offence to Slater, but I hope Harding goes outside of the program to get their next HC. Someone who gets more involved with the middle school and youth football programs.

Personally, I want it to be slater. The guy can coach. Connects well with the players, and has some involvement in the upbringing. I have heard he’s front runner, but we’ll see.

Slater is involved with the JH and Youth. I have seen him at games for both levels. Not sure outside of watching games he is involved but I will say showing up for games is a lot more than most coaches that do not have a kid playing.

I’ve seen him there as well, and he’s often at the elementary schools and middle school.

Years ago my grandson played at Cardington. I would go to his 7th and then 8th grade games. One afternoon/evening Pleasant made the trip to Dingtown. Looking at the formations, watching the plays run and hearing the play calls used I thought I was watching a miniature Friday Night Lights game. When those kids got to HS level Chris was able to just plug them into the system and they were prepared. Think Slater will do the same?

I’ll say this about the Harding situation.
Many within the district believe in someone that is currently on the staff.
In my opinion, that means Slater or Westler. They both understand the impact/importance of the middle school and youth programs. They both played for Hinton and grew up in that era where Hinton had his hands on everything. I went to school with both of them and think they are good guys.
Not sure how it will all play out but I am guessing that one of them will get the job. I could be completely wrong, this is just based on chatter around Marion.
I saw someone mention Kubbs. I know Slater did coach at Pleasant for 3 years. So I’m sure he knows a thing or two about how the youth program was ran out there.
Don’t post much unless it deals with the Prexies. Hopefully they can win Conference next year.

Kubbs didn't have much to do with the program of the young, kids but all the coaches seem to be old players and the system and terminology has not changed. As far as who Slater coached with would have been Cook. Lets just say Slater was more involved than Cook was.
IMO Slater went back for the chance to be the head coach.

I have sat in many MOAC meetings and the Pleasant to the N10 is solid. You pleasant folks should already know they inquired already, the N10 wants another team ie. River Valley in the discussion also. As for the head job at Harding the younger Brady is also in the mix. I heard 3 apps have been turned in. But I also was told MH will have a black HC. In other MOAC news Ontario Qb cam todd will be transferring to Mansfield sr.

Eagles nest: "I have sat in many MOAC meetings..." shut up! Like you have some say/clue as to what is going on in these programs...LOL keep sitting and quit talking. It would do all of us a favor! The younger Brady (Who ever that might be???) in the mix? Who is that??? Right, no body really knows.... 3 apps....again who are you?!?! Like you have a clue...just be quiet...Because you do not know, just like the people in the building do not know. It is a process, so let it occur. And the fact that you think that you are the news spreader or the inside reporter/journalist for the MOAC is hilarious. Enjoy! I will back when some other Douche decides to present some random rumor that is occurring within their head. Throw another dart moron! See if it hits a balloon for a prize! You got me on that attempt...
