The teacher's union made this contract a mandatory position for an inside teacher with wording that if multiple inside applicants applied, one of them HAS to be qualified ENOUGH to hold the position. Not that they are qualified, but that they are qualified enough. This is how a criminal with no qualifications for an AD position can get the job. I have also been told that she was trying to get a high position in education and some felt giving her this job would be a stepping stone to that higher position. If she was already stealing from her fellow teachers checkbook imagine what she could have done as a principal. Any teaching contract is barganined by the BOE and the teacher union. Thus, this is not made mandatory by the union..... Every bargained agreement has give and take actions. This does not benefit the BOE in and way so it must have been asked for by the union. But to be more specific, the mandatory part I was referring to is that is that if multiple inside employees apply for the job they must get it.

Anyone know when and where some 7 on 7 are? Like when’s Mansfield’s big one they have every year?

It will be interesting at Senior as the OC and DC are both gone. The WR coach is also gone. Major shakeup in coaching staff. OC lasted 2 days before being hired by Lexington. DC is still on Admin leave and isn't permitted near anything. Very interesting. Don't ask me why because I don't know. So it only took 2 days for the OC to go from a 8-3 team to a 2-8 team.

What I want to know is who's gonna count the gate money? Can anyone at Senior be trusted these days?

Mansfield went to the Ashland University 7 on 7 yesterday and did well I'm told. The new QB split time but looked good.

Not sure how Mansfield did, but Shelby won the 16 team championship. Hounds beat Massillon Jackson, Canton Hoover, Mansfield Sr., Northwest & Waverly.

I wasn't there, so I can't accurately relay the overall competition. As it was a 7 on 7 passing scrimmage, I'm not sure how much can be gleaned from it. I know some of these teams may end up being run first, and may have been a bit exposed. In addition, I think several teams haven't really installed plays as yet this early on. That was what Cam Todd said, as he did suit up to run the offense for Sr. at times, although still having to sit out the first five games. Locally, Hillsdale, Lexington and Mapleton were there as well. In regard to Canal Fulton Northwest, not sure why they weren't on the schedule, but they did participate.

Ran into some coaches over the weekend and the general thought was the overall competition at AU was thin.

That is a good point. But I still think winning would TRUMP the move even with a little extra pay.

I always find it interesting when teams play a ton of 7 on 7's . Over the years I always wondered why Ashland who run's a very heavy passing offense only does two a summer, one in June and then their own this week. I think if you ask the coaches 7 on 7 really doesn't help a team get better. You can do the same thing in practice every day. Football is won once the pads are put on, if you cant hit or block then you might as well not show up.

Let me start by saying Mansfield will be better the last 5 games once they get their starting QB. Senior has a chance to be very good this year. They could even make a deep playoff run with how weak the region is this year. Their biggest non conference game will be Maple Heights. Their hardest OCC opponent will be either Ashland or Wooster. I'm going to say that Mansfield will finish 8-2 and make it to the 2nd round of the playoffs. Mansfield looked pretty good against some very good competition. 7 on 7 may not help you win but it does allow players to work on fundamentals of the game.

Ashland had a lot of contributing seniors last year. They may be looking for game experience when the season opens.

Surprise team this year could be Lex. They won’t be Mansfield but I think they could beat any other OCC Team.

I will do a quick preview of the Arrows for this year.
First they lose a lot of quality players on the offensive side of the ball. You don't lose an all Ohio Qb and not take a step back. That mixed with finding 3 or 4 new wide receivers the offense will look different this year. New Qb will be Jr Mitch Heilman. He has been the next Qb in the system for awhile, got to play a good amount of WR at the Varsity level last year, he has been waiting for his turn. Along with Heilman the Arrows return 3 offensive lineman and their starting RB/Wr Owen Reef, after that everything is up for grabs. Defensively they should be better. Bring back most of the secondary and have Sr. DL Josh Bever back who I think is going to have a big season. Overall looks like about 5 starters back on each side of the ball, alot more guys that saw some sort of playing time on the defensive side.
Overall as always what Ashland gets from its new Qb will go along way in determining how things shape out this season.

Mansfield vs Ashland will probably decide the OCC this year. I’m glad to see Mansfield will have their QB for the toughest part of their schedule. My gut tells me that 3rd place in the OCC will be either Wooster or Lexington. I believe that Mount Vernon and Madison will battle for 5th and 6th and West Holmes will bring up the bottom.

Clear Fork scrimmage Madison and I would say it is possible Madison could be looking at 0-20 but I hope they get at least a win this season.

When did Madison scrimmage Clearfork? I know they played a 7 on 7 and from my understanding Madison didn’t do half bad against clearfork.
