I had to leave the Mansfield scrimmage but when I left it was 6-0 Mansfield over Fremont Ross mid second quarter. In my Opinion Fremont looked to be bigger overall but Mansfield was holding them down.

I have a hard time believing that Ross put up 16 points in the last half of the second quarter. It was 6-0 Mansfield half way through the second quarter.

So you’re telling me that between the last 5-6 minutes of the 2nd quarter Fremont put up 16 points and Mansfield put up another 9? If so then the defenses must have just fell apart quickly

On Paper looks like a pretty good week for the OCC. Interesting that only Wooster plays a home game. Really only see 1 game that is out of reach (Sorry Madison).

Anyone else see in the preview sections today that West Holmes was picked to finish 2nd in the OCC this year? I knew they played some close games last year with the top teams but I did not realize how much they had coming back, 9 starters back on offense and defense.

Rough opening night for the OCC. Ashland, WH and Wooster only teams coming out with a win. Pretty terrible losses for both Lexington and Mansfield.

AND the score could have been worse, Ontario had 2 other scoring opportunities that came up empty. One at the 2 yard line as the clock ran out at half time and a fumble on the run that picked up a first down around the 15 yard line late in the 3rd or early in the 4th. The horrible Ontario team beat a terrible Lex team and a Horrendous Madison team. They might be a middle of the pack OCC team.  Ontario has SEVERAL smallish players with big hearts |

Middle of the pack noway. Beating Madison for sure because this is the worse Madison Team that I’ve seen play. For some reason it always seems like Lex under performs. That’s the only two teams that Ontario would beat from the OCC. I also guarantee If lex played Ontario Ten times lex would win 9 of thought. Everything just went right for Ontario in this game.

Don't you know what means?? Lexington's offense had one play all night. Ontario's little guys wore down Lex's much bigger guys on defense and won the 4th quarter. Other than the 80 yard TD pass Lex couldn't do anything. Ontario's "Jr high looking" QB had most of his 101 yards passing and 49 yards rushing in the 4th quarter. I'd take him over Lexington's 6-5 QB. Other than his 80 yard TD pass and 50 yards passing against a prevent defense in the last 35 seconds, he had 10 yards passing and -30 yards rushing due to being sacked 4 times by the little guys. BTW Ontario has 4 "Jr high looking" DBs that stayed right with the MUCH taller Lex receivers after learning their lesson on the 80 yard TD pass. Ontario coaches game planned Lexington's 6-5 220 Ohio State recruit on offense and stopped him cold. It is possible that Lex could be in better shape and their coaches could coach better in those other 9 games. IF "everything just went right for Ontario in this game" they would have won 28-7. They blew 2 scoring opportunities. Lex had no other scoring opportunities. |

From what I seen on the film Lexingtons line is terrible. As a coaching staff you have to find ways to get the much taller Receivers the ball. I mean you can throw the ball up and let them go get it. Anyways congrats to Ontario for fighting all night and getting the win.

Week 1 is in the books, on to week 2. After last week when I said it looked like the OCC could win all but 1 game, I think this week they could lose all but 1 game. West Holmes should beat Tuslaw, and I feel like Mansfield should be Perkins, but after that looks like a tough schedule. Hope some teams can pull off some wins.

I enjoy reading area newspapers accounts of the Friday night games, and cannot find anything in the Mansfield Journal online edition of the Mansfield Sr/Norwalk game. Did I miss it or are they pretending the game did not happen?
