I don't agree he would have had better stats with Crestline either, if he didn't get hurt. He would have had better rushing stats at Crestline; I'll agree with you there. But how you can you really tell? He would have put up decent numbers against any school in the MOAC. He sitting at 315 yards on 17 completions in basically barely 6 quarters. We have some weapons on Galion. I still believe that. You guys will find out if my son ever comes back..healthy, and we can get our offense rolling. I still got MUCH confidence in our receivers. They are very good and very fast. We are going to shock ONE team. That's my prediction. I'm sticking with it. LOL
I don't ever second-guess our decision to come here. Injury or no injury, I'll leave that to my dad. LOL Galion is great place to play football. We expect to win every game. That's my mentality. I don't like to hear you just play to have fun, and it's ok if you win or lose. No, it's not ok to lose, you play to win "." I don't like the whole participation medal philosophy. I hated the Crestline-way in baseball. If the pitcher hits the batter, he has to walk over and shake his hand. I saw a pitcher hit like 3 batters back-to-back-back and have to do that. It was ridiculous to me. LOL

I want to rephrase my comment on Drake (though I never named him). I don't know if he got a full ride scholarship. I just expected it to be. I spoke to another school during a camp who said they went after him but couldn't match Findlay's offer. On the other one it was 80%, but I spoke with him, and he said with all the other money he received it worked out to be a full ride. He didn't have to pay for anything.

An "offer" can be a financial package that one school may not be able to match from another but that may have nothing to do with athletic offers. My guess is any freshman on a D2 roster of 100 plus players and is not given a uniform number for the varsity squad is not receiving a scholarship.

Yeah! I don't know how all that works. I hope to find out though. How would he be on the team if he didn't get a number? I don't understand that. I know there are junior varsity teams. I spoke to a kid at Ashland that was on the JV team. Hell! I didn't even know they had a JV team. Must not amount to much though, the kid liked it though. Even though he said the game like last week got canceled due to the team they were playing didn't have enough players. That sounds crazy to me...a game canceled due to that. Why even have a team then?

Look at this point it's all semantics anyway. Bottom line is the kid's going to school for free. He won some local money and I'm sure that there are other grants and awards that Findlay gave him as well. That's why grades are so important kids. I will however caution you on this point Tiger. While looking at schools with my daughter last year I learned that if you do not meet certain academic standards any money that the institution offers you has to be claimed as part of the school's total scholarship money. So if it's close the kid with the grades is going to get the offer.

With a limited amount of numbers available for uniforms it is easy to understand. Findlay has 15 freshman players listed on the roster that do not have numbers. I would doubt that none of those 15 would have recieved full scholarships including the Galion player that you indicated did.

Bad karma? From what, transferring schools? I agree that transferring for sports is often unnecessary but it seems you're happy he got injured. I hope I'm wrong but that's what it seems like right now. You are wrong. No one wants to see a kid get injured playing sports. Let's see, playing football I broke a finger, almost had my nose ripped off it was broken so badly and broke my tibia. They were all done in violet football plays. But when a knee is torn up, when just standing on the field, explain it. Other than a congenital defect or not doing enough knee joint strengthening training......Karma. My father's business partner had a son play football for Michigan. He played DB. As he was jogging onto the field an assistant coach yelled. He turned to listen to the coach and tore every ligament in his knee. That WAS a career ending injury and he wasn't touched. Karma

I agree Galion..and that's how I feel about Chase. It won't be the injury stopping him. It will be his grades or ACT score. I totally agree with you. I'm dealing with the same issue with Chase that I dealt with Codi. The only difference is I got to Chase early and took custody of him AND Chase has a better attitude about football. Codi thought he could just rely on his talent alone. He found out that wasn't enough after the injury. So we will see if Codi plays next year with the university or not ever now. He got the academic scholarship, which in my mind was just wrong. But who am I to complain; we owe everything to that college now. We are very..very grateful.
Scooter...I don't know. I know he signed with the team (Findlay). I saw the picture of the signing in the paper. So honestly I don't know what he got offered. I would think a Division 2 team would offer him mostly a full ride, especially when one coach told me they got beat out by Findlay in their offer. So who knows. If Chase gets anything, I'll be totally upfront with everyone on here on what he got. If he doesn't get anything, I'll be honest too.

pirate80, Talk with coach Williams about "The battle of 42". See if the kids can play it up somehow for sports games between the two schools. I'm not sure if this site has a private message feature or not. If it does, send me one and I will elaborate. Sent you a message.

Many roster'd players are walk-ons. Why would you they put a picture of you in the paper with a coach sitting at a table signing a contract if you were just a walk-on?

It happens. Hell, they put pictures of kids "signing" for D3 schools who can't even offer athletic aid. It's all just publicity for the schools.

Because today, everyone gets a trophy. And it could be something like being promised with money in the future. Not uncommon. As I said. D2 football gets 36 scholarships to try and get the best they can. With approximately 115 players, and some guys sharing a full scholarship, some of those guys are there to play football without athletic money. I would be willing to bit if an incoming freshman received a full scholarship they would be numbered on the roster and possibly seen field in one of the 3 games since 2 were losses and 1 was a blowout after halftime.

Thoughts on the JA vs PHS game last week?
My thoughts: 1) The score didn't really indicate how close the game was. 2) Pugh is a horse to bring down. 3) Looked like Pleasant ran out of gas 4) Officials were bad on a couple calls. Not sure it affected the outcome of the game just were big misses.
Interested in anyone else’s thoughts who attended game.
Stanley does this count?

JA was going through the motions and got smacked in the mouth in the first qtr. Two costly turnovers that lead to a 9-0 lead by PHS. It was the first time JA had been challenged and their character tested. JA responded by putting PUGH in Offensive situations where he was able to utilize his skill sets and take back control of the game. Kid is for real! Defensively JA only gave up 7 points (that were not a result of a JA Offensive turn-over). JA Defense is SOLID. PHS was creative Offensively and played to win. PHS gave up big plays defensively. I was impressed with PHS fight and Proud of how JA responded to adversity. It was an awakening for JA not to take teams lightly and to be prepared from the first snap. JA will get everyone's best shot. PHS is a much better team than they were the last time the two teams played. PHS should have a very successful season. 1. PHS played well. After the JA 80yrd TD run to start the 3rd qtr. it was an uphill battle for PHS. PHS had a lot of fight. Game was close in the first half.. 2. If you ever wanted to see a scholarship D1 Football player - Pugh will not disappoint. 3. Agreed. Like a heavy weight fight. JA took PHS best shot, shook it off and finished like the defending Champ should. 4. None factor in the outcome of the game

The #5 kid from JA is a monster as well. Couple lead blocks he threw were nasty.

The Harding vs North Union game seems pretty interesting to me for some reason. What does North Union bring to the table and what are some thoughts on the game?

The Harding vs North Union game seems pretty interesting to me for some reason. What does North Union bring to the table and what are some thoughts on the game? Its one of the games where we figure out how good Harding is for league play. You know NU wants to run the ball so it will be a test to your run D. This is also where we see how NU does against probably the best speed in the league. Should be a great game. Is Harding back to full strength?

I've yet to see JA play....but North Union has the best rushing attack I've seen so far. 4 kids capable of taking it to the house at any time

Pugh is the best athlete to come out of the MOAC since Jeff Thiel from Ridgedale

IMO... Pugh is the best athlete to come out of the MOAC since Jeff Thiel from Ridgedale I would throw Trevor Harris into that mix as well as Brad Martin who got a four year ride to Indiana. I remember Jeff, but he needed more players around him.

Taylor Harris from Highland was a pretty impressive back.

The Harding vs North Union game seems pretty interesting to me for some reason. What does North Union bring to the table and what are some thoughts on the game? Nu has a couple injured kids. They are small in numbers, but really well-coached. They love the running game. They've had around 8 different guys score TDs. There's no superstar on the team, they are well balanced, in my opinion. Friday should be a great game but we will be down a couple kids. NU needs to stay healthy in order to make a playoff run.

Harrah kid from pleasant was a D1 player at Cinnci. In a lot of ways that is who he reminds me off. Only Kubbs would have never put him in the wildcat.

5.15 for 40 yards and a 1.85 CORE, sorry, not to be a jerk but I don't see anyone beating down the door for this when it comes to the QB position. I've seen some scrimmages, games and a lot of 7 on 7's and the closest thing I've seen at the Q position to a D1er MIGHT be the Shelby kid.

LOL The 1.85 Core was my oldest son, who got the academic scholarship at ...... Though Chase's isn't much better, so I'll give you that. But he's constantly improved since moving to Galion (cause I crack the whip). Right now he's sitting at (core classes only): A/A/B/C/D...that's what a 2.8 so far with a month to go? Plus I honestly never thought he would slide into a Division 1 college, because of grades and getting his name out there so late (Junior year). We can go back-and-forth on this one, if someone wants to argue the point with me on this subject. My focus has always been on a Division 2 team or a Div. 1AA - like Youngstown State. We are actually going to visit Baldwin Wallace this weekend and Mount Union in two weeks to watch games too. They are Division 3, but Chase likes both of those colleges.(I know they can't give athletic scholarships too.) It will be eventually be his decision to make. Right now, I see Ashland, Ohio Dominican, Findlay, Youngstown State, Baldwin Wallace and Mount Union as colleges that have shown more than interest than anyone else in Chase. Lake Erie and Walsh have emailed him too, so they are ones he will look at too, if they keep in contact. My philosophy is "all we only need is one to offer." This season has been a disappointment so far, but the season isn't over yet. His goal is to get a degree and hopefully play quarterback. We will see if he has done enough to do that. If not, I'll be deeply disappointed, but life goes on. We will look at other avenues of approach to get him to his goals.
