We have an interesting scrimmage next Tuesday to start our pre-football season off. At home against Madison 10:00 in the morning. I switched my day off (Wednesday) to Tuesday, so I could watch it. Then next up is next Saturday at Centerburg, I'll miss that one though. Then we got Shelby (with that quarterback - Brennan Armstrong) at home for our last scrimmage on Aug. 19th at 7:00 PM. We always seem to play Shelby for that last game. My son didn't play against them last year. I can't wait to see how we match up against Shelby (a good team). I wish it was Aug. 26th right now though.

Well I have been on JJ for over 20 years so it was natural for me to check there.

I also visited JJ from around it's beginning, when there were WAY MORE people posting AND it was free. But when NOSF came into existence it was more about high school sports in this area, so it was natural to gravitate to it and leave JJ. Besides, you couldn't say anything on JJ unless you had 2 witnesses and had a notary put his seal on it. I knew a guy who was a friend of Mo C when he was in high school and he told be about all the issues he had then. So I mentioned them on JJ, citing the reference and was banned for several months, without so much as a warning. After all his problems at Ohio State I made a post saying I told ya so and was banned again. **** on 'em, they were SO self-righteous and thought they were never wrong.

The MOAC was never really a part of the original NOSF footprint. We only added the MOAC forums once Galion and Upper landed there, so that their already established fan bases on NOSF would have a place to talk about their teams. Aside from Blazer's posts we never seemed to get much traffic from the rest of that league, but it would be nice to see more MOAC posters turn up here on the new site.

'Twas the night before football! Seeing as week 1 is so close we can almost smell the overpriced popcorn and faintly hear the very non-city league cheerleading as we have come to expect from the MOAC, I have but one question: who starts the year off 1-0 and who will suffer their first loss? This seems on the surface to have the makings of a great year of MOAC ball. Many expect Jon Alder to win another title, but I'm sure the good folks from Marion and on Coover Road feel good about their chances. My prediction, which is worth nothing considering tomorrow is literally day one and I am a first time poster, is that BV beats Hayes, Galion over Centerburg, Ben Logan over Fairbanks, Zanesville gets JA, Pleasant over whatever that school is, River Valley gets smoked, Harding and NU win. Top 3 at end of the year in order: 1) BV 2) JA 3) Harding. Call me crazy!

Didn't know Madison was scrimmaging gallon. I seen Madison's scrimmage schedule and didn't see gallon on it I double-checked my schedule again. It says, "Madison", unless it isn't right. I guess I'll have to wait and see next Tuesday. I hope we play someone. ha! I want to see your top recruit kid play. What position does he play?

Will our young kids be able to hold up in this league and be able to compete. The key will be how my son (QB) will play too. Will he crack under the pressure or will he dominate the league? I'm hoping for the later, but I'm a dreamer too. We have a VERY young team. I think they are going to shock some people, and I have only seen one 7-on-7, which was a little rough at times. haha! I heard they did much better down at Capital University, but we will see how they hold up against Madison (a good team I'm reading online). I'm telling if we stay healthy we are going to have a decent team. The young kids have talent but will we have enough to compete a whole game? Can our defense hold up? Will our line hold up? Soooo many questions, come on season hurry up and get here. *** Centerburg is just a scrimmage game for us. I have no clue on how good they are. We do play Cardington our 2nd game of the season. Their quarterback was at a few our football camps we went to this year. He's a good little quarterback. He throws a nice ball and has a nice touch.

Galion isn't on my top three radar simpally because they are going to be too young in the trenches. I know they had a couple of monsters last year on the line that are moving on, and they are losing their tailback. I don't doubt that your son will have some success this year, but he has to have someone block for him. Some of those dlinemen from Harding, JA, and BV will eat up guys who played on Saturday mornings last year. Those teams have returning starters who have been successful against more experienced lines. Unless your boy has some Mike Vick skills, which have yet to be seen, he may have some trouble with some teams. They win week 1 against Bucyrus by at least 2 possessions regardless. On a sidebar, will Galion's linemen be in two point stances this year or will they put their hands in the mud? I am curious because of the change in leadership. In my experience, high school linemen who use two point stances give their blocks away by leaning and looking before the snap of the ball (watch film on your monster linemen, #77 I think, from last year and you can see when he is trapping every time).

1st off everyone need to get rid of that "default Avatar" and get their team or please anything else.
Yeah "Trench90", I'm not up on the stances for an offensive lineman. I'm just asking them to protect the quarterback for about 3-4 seconds, Then I think we will be good. ha! We have a young line. We do have a BIG boy who didn't play last year, but he's going to the 2-days now. He's about 6'4 or 6'5, he's decent. He should be a good fit for us, plus he's a very good friend of my sons. He's a senior. I'm not looking for much, just give my son a little bit of time to throw the ball...or run for his life. Ha! Our receivers need to have a GREAT year. We should have about 3-4 good ones. One already told me he's going to be the league -leading receiver. I like that confidence.
Yes, my son is NOT Michael Vick...more like Derek Anderson. Ha! But around smaller and younger kids, he's going to run over them. (Joking). Even though my son isn't fast, he is elusive in the pocket which will help him out, especially this year. I spoke to him about getting rid of the ball sooner...making a decision...knowing all the plays and knowing where the receivers will be at. He seems to have a problem finding his receivers at times. That's just my opinion; he's still got A LOT of things to work on this season. I'm excited though.

Greetings fellow MOAC fans. Hopefully, we will get some more converts to this board as that always makes things more fun. I don't post a lot but I always enjoy hearing everyone's viewpoint on their team. I look for Pleasant to be massively improved over last year's team and go back to what has worked well for them in the past. I look for them to be 3-0 when they enter league play against JA. It gets a lot tougher once they hit the MOAC but I think they will be back to fighting for a playoff spot this season.

...I don't think Galion vs Madison next Tuesday is considered their first scrimmage. I think it's probably going to be one of those walk-throughs were you can't touch the quarterback, but tackle everyone else. It's just a guess though from me.
I agree with you on Pleasant too. You got a decent quarterback. We saw him at a few of our football camps this year. He's a lot faster than my son..a little smaller. I bet the Pleasant/Galion game will be a good one. I watched 1/2 of our practice today. I heard we will be in a 3-point stance this year. Our defense looked quick today. Our secondary looks faster than last year overall. We will still have size too. Our line looks young, but does have a few BIG boys on it. We will see how tough they will be when the season kicks off though. Still don't know who our running backs will be. I think we will be competitive against "most" teams, but we will see. I'm like the guy above me; I want Galion to be 3-0. If we can do that, I think we will be ok. Anything less I'll be a little disappointed. I know how hard it is to sneak into a playoff spot. You can only lose a couple of games. That's the reason teams play right? ....for a post season trip.

I also believe Pleasant will be better than last year. I understand they had a bunch of Freshmen playing but that class was loaded. I think JA, BV, Harding are top 3 in no particular order. I also think Fairbanks will be at the bottom. The other 4: RV, NU, Galion, Pleasant could be in any order after top 3.

RV has some boys on the line once again. I have no idea if they can block but I was talking to a parent of one of the linemen the other night and he was saying their guards are 240 and 260, one tackle is around 280 and another is over 300 and they all move well. They are replacing a lot of speed and talent at the skill positions but my guess is Doug Green will have them well prepared for the season.
Harding has about 85 kids out this year, so John Brady has their numbers on the rise again. It has to help their recruiting within the ranks when the players know they aren't going to have to play a bunch of schools that are bigger and can absolutely blow them out.

Yeah! I got high hopes for this season. This will be my last year in Galion, I'm hoping for a dream-like season. I'm sure everyone does for their teams. I'm sure even Fairbanks is going to be better. I liked their BIG quarterback last year. He was decent. He's going to have a much better year this year. (I think he's coming back.) For River Valley offensive line, size is sooo nice to have. But man we ran into a team last year in the playoffs - Edison - who took care of our HUGE line. I would have never thought their smaller line would have done that to us last year. Every offensive play in that game went for 6 yards plus every down. They were quick and disciplined. We could not get off their blocks. I remember laughing before the game when I looked at their line thinking, "Man! We are are going to kill this team." Boy! Was I wrong! ha!
I wish everyone the best this year. I took a day of vacation next Saturday, so I can watch our first scrimmage against Centerburg. Go Tigers. Oh! We are going to have tiger stripes on our helmets this year. That's going to look pretty cool. Little things like this excite me. haha!

You are so right about line size. It matters not if you can't block. I remember Pleasant going up against Liberty Center in the playoffs in 1997 or 98 and their line was a bunch of 185 pound kids but all they needed to do was turn their defender and hold the block for a couple of seconds. They were so well drilled at it that I walked away extremely impressed. They turned much bigger guys and gave their running backs enough of a crease to just pound forward for positive yards on almost every play.

That's amazing to me..how well coached some teams are. I remember the Edison game...like the first 5 plays they ran for like 6-10 yards each time. I was thinking, "Why can't we stop this team?" haha! I was like in shock. We never did figure them out. We started to slow them a bit as the game wore on but not by much. What killed us in that game was going for 4th and one on "our own 30 yard-line" midway through the 3rd quarter. We had just scored twice, and they were only up by a touchdown. I loved our coach at the time and still do (even though he jetted to take the head coaching job at Ontario...GREAT MAN and Coach), buuuuutttt (hahaha!) I'll never understand the reasoning of taking a 6'4" quarterback out and putting your speedy backup QB in to get one yard. I love that kid too..GREAT ATHLETE. I guess maybe I don't know football too well...but if I'm playing arm-chair quarterback, I'm putting my 6'4" 192 lb QB in "UNDER CENTER" not in shotgun like our other QB was, and tell him to run right behind my 6'5" 320 lb. offensive lineman. If we get stopped and can't get one yard, we deserve to lose. ha! After that play, they stopped us and immediately scored on the very next play. My son throws his first interception of the season on the very next possession for us, and the guy runs it back for touchdown...GAME OVER! Could of, should of, would of.....haha! I'll never forget that 4th and one play for us. It was a great experience for my son coming from a 0-10 team to a playoff team (Galion) the very next year. We will never forget that atmosphere and feeling. Love High School football!!!

I have a quick question. I've looked at several schedules and I can't seem to find who Pleasant's Week 2 game is. Does someone know who they will be playing?
