On that note, this thread has been hijacked.

Nothing says a Willard thread like bringing up Big Lex.....and Bellevue. On another note, I think Scarletfever wants to smack me upside my head.

Sanderson Ohio State, Hoeppner Ohio U, Howell Ohio U, Yarger Hofstra I thought Sanderson was mid-90s and played for Coach Gray? The "shine" wasn't well defined, many consider all of them part of the Lex "shine".

Simmons was a man child. Went on to be a 200 foot discus thrower at SMU.

40+ points and 20 rebounds and 2 All Ohioans graduated, yet this team won an SBC title and almost took us to a place nobody thought possible 5 months ago....a Sweet 16. Thank you men for a great season. I will terribly miss Myles, Austin, Micah, Jake, Trey and Cooper. You guys are a class act and escalated the tradition of Willard Basketball. Already looking forward tp 21-22 and accomplishing things nobody else thinks we can. We will be back!!!

Way to early predictions but just for fun, who do you see as starters next year? Obviously Dawson, Paxton, and Weiss. I think possibly the younger Robinson? And then maybe Wiers? Can’t quite remember who all was on JV.

You can bet I'll be keeping a close eye all summer.

Of the 5 how many in the rotation? Also what was the Willard JV record? Not good I don’t believe however is there some talent to fill the holes needed to be filled on varsity? I know you were more optimistic than me on Willard this past season. Do you believe they compete with Margaretta and Huron for the Bay?

Willard definitely exceeded expectations for this season. Going back and looking at posts from before the season, credit to the coaches and players for their continual improvement all season.

We had 6 Seniors 3 started 1 came off the bench as 7th man 2 didn’t get much time 2 Juniors and 1 Freshman who played a lot. Was a much better team than I guessed it would be. The 7 who really made up the rotation, all improved year over year. I think the coaches got 99% out of the team. So it’s obvious we have a good coach in Joe B. Hirsch is a great assistant and just has so much knowledge of the game and experience that he’s a great compliment to Joe B.

Willard did not exceed my expectations this year at all.....they met them. They had a great year. They graduated a ton, and had a few kids that needed to fill some big shoes. They did that! You can pick apart foul shots and shot selection all you want, Willard lost because "the team" didn't bring their "A" the entire game. The opponent warranted our "A" game for 4 qtrs. They are good. We will be back in this very same game in 2022 vs CC. Most of you Willard fans think "not". Keep picking apart this games short comings, in the fall I'll pick apart why the football team is once again 0-10. Great Job this year Coach B and Hirsch!

I have nothing but faith in the key returner for next season and his ability to lead a team. I hope I didn’t offend you. But please tell me you will be in the stands as a parent next football season.

I’m a little confused and maybe I’m reading this wrong, but I wasn’t disrespecting this team or season or even next season. Like I said maybe I’m reading this wrong. I feel they exceeded expectations, you feel they met. To each their own hut either way it was another great season for Willard basketball.

You have never offended me. You are the "Salt and Earth" of the Willard athletics. I will be in the stands as I can rooting for the Flashes, I am doubtful I will be rooting for many seniors next year on the football field, however.

Appreciate that. I hope they reconsider. They could be a valuable part of turning football around in Willard. Who knows, they might even get a offer somewhere.

How many of these basketball players play football, Cok, Dawson the elder, Addleman(sp) and Pinkston? Looking at the body types of the first 3, they could play football in college, but never basketball. In a school the size of Willard, the most athletic kid in the school(Pinkston) must play football. Again more likely to get a scholarship for football than basketball. The first priority of the new head coach to build a program MUST be to get those type of kids out for football.

I don't think any of them played football You'd be wrong. Paxton kid played. Even with a no win season he was 2nd team all SBC. 38 catches, 840 recieving yards, 9 TD's. Kids athletic...good size for football. #8 if I recall right. Weiss kid played as well. Most likely this seasons QB. Strong arm lefty. Cok and Wiers also played.
