I heard that one was a past Willard coach but was not told the name. I guess we will know soon enough. King- no Strance-no Eicher-no Hawkins-i’m sure this is who they are talking about -no Matula-no Devier-no Has to be an outsider, otherwise they would have been announced a week ago.

Isn’t garret at buckeye he is a former coach correct for Willard. Former coach didn’t mean football he coached baseball didn’t he?

Soccer, Soccer, Soccer I can feel it. The soccer dynasty I've been waiting for is about here. Bye, bye Willard football. Could the front runner be a former 7th grade cheerleader coach? ha ha ha ha. Master Plan in action if so. Checkmate. Soccer is awesome Soccer is the best Soccer is life Soccer makes dreams come true Don't ever forget the word "Soccer"

Maybe a soccer coach in disguise could get the job, finish the football program off and take the players with him as the new Assistant Head Soccer Coach for Willard??

Is an announcement still expected today? Be shocked if it isn't Speller from Elida. He was looking for a place to land.

It’s Bill Speller Do your research on how he did at Haviland Wayne Trace where he spent the vast majority of his time as a head coach-14 years—2013 State Runner up. They really liked him. He brings a wealth of head coaching experience and knowledge to our program. I’m really happy to get him and his family in Willard.

Ouch hit a nerve. Sorry i'm sure he will do a great job in Willard. Just seemed like a red flag for a hire that's all. Hopefully he can bring Willard back to the Charlie Frye days. Good Luck

Hopefully when people do research they look at those years. And not the reason for being let go at Elida. Just reminds you of Devier. Good luck coach you definitely have your work cut out for you.

He met the team today. Already holding kids accountable for not being in the weight room. Regardless if my son son plays or not I am pulling for him and the staff.

Just to have a winning coach with like 17+ years of head coaching experience, you’d have to go all the way back to Hawkins to hire a coach with that kind of pedigree. History will prove it right or wrong, but I think we hired The best applicant to turn the program around.

Charlie Frye didn’t do it alone,a lot of good players around him. They were a fun team to watch, beating Bellevue twice in 3 weeks.

In my mind, all things considered, it’s great hire for Willard.
I dealt with coach Speller a couple of times during his short stay at Elida and I never had a problem with him. His departure from Elida was obviously less than ideal for all concerned and while I’ve heard all the rumors, I’m not completely sure I know or understand exactly what happened. I will say I think he may have gotten a raw deal, but that’s just my opinion.
I do know this - coach Speller is fairly old school and has a no nonsense approach. His overall record of success speaks for itself and if the kids and their parents understand and accept this, this will work out well.

I sat behind him at the flashes sectional win and spoke w him and his wife very briefly. Told him and wife (and son) thanks for coming to town.
Big guy, just his presence in the room may get a few more reps out of the boys 😅

I don't think Wayne Trace like him that much because the job at Wayne Trace is open and Speller wanted it back, WT said no return. A lot of Elida was true.

I have no dog in this fight, and I don't want to rain on Willard's parade, but this looks like a solid hire. Best of luck!
