Branham declares for the draft. Next years team is going to be very interesting. A lot of players are going to have to step up. Not if "interesting" means a winning record in the Big Ten Will Ahrens, Sueing and Towns want the Free NCAA year? I think Holtmann can take 4 players from The Portal However, if all had 2+ years of eligibility, he could not add any freshman recruits in 2023. One thing for sure, I can't see anyone leaving early next year, unless one of the Freshmen has a break out year like Branham did.

A number of good players in the portal. It's time to actually perform and get some quality players that can come in and start at a Big Time school with plenty of minutes available. No excuse to not be able to land some of these guys this time. If it means hiring an assistant with connections to said player ----do it !

They need a good big man to push Key and a wing who can average 15ppg to replace some of the points lost by Branham and Liddell leaving.

One of the assistant positions has been filled by Miami(OH) coach Jack Owens. He was also an assistant at Purdue before taking over the Miami program.

Buckeyes also got a commitment from transfer Tanner Holden from Wright State. Averaged 20 ppg last year.

Do "we" or Holtmann for that matter really have a choice, if they want the NCAA's free 5th year? With the kid from Wright State and if both Sueing and Towns come back, I can see Eugene Brown entering The Portal.

I think Brown sticks around a year more to at least see his role. He started quite a few games this past season. The kid just needs to take that next step —-kinda like EJ did after his 1st year into his 2nd where he became a very consistent player. Brown flashed good and bad.
As I read more about the incoming freshman and you can add Eztler to that, it’s gonna be a different look —- but these kids are good players. They will be young and maybe have ups and downs—— but I think we might be better than we are initially rated .
Expect Key Sueing Brown Johnson and Holden as 2/3 year players to all provide veteran play initially . I think we add at least one more transfer—- depending if it’s 2 more add ons—- then you may see someone like Brown or Johnson hit the portal . Our incoming 5 1st year players all appear to have ready to go skills. I think we’ll be deeper than previous years.

Adam Jardy of the Dispatch said on his podcast the other day that it is trending up that both Sueing and Towns come back next year In another column, Jardy listed 5 or 6 players Ohio State should get from The Portal and the kid from Wright State wasn't one of them.

I don’t see Bowen Hardman getting a lot of minutes next year. I’m actually curious if he will redshirt like Etzler did this year, that extra year may be good for someone like him.

I have seen Bowen play and redshirting for a couple years may not help him get playing time in Columbus. His build and skill may be better suited for a lower level than the Big Ten. Super nice kid though.

Bowen is a few inches shorter and at least 25 pounds lighter than Ahrens.

You guys worry way to much about the bottom of the roster. UNC and Nova both basically played 5 Saturday night

With Ohio State’s track record the last number of seasons with injuries, I think it’s completely fair to talk about depth with them. Look at how many guys have missed time, especially key players.

Justin Ahrens has one year of eligibility still left due to the covid year but will be entering the transfer portal and playing somewhere else.

He loved the kid. The way he was playing, I would have loved to see someone outplay him this season and take his spot. After 4 years of playing for OSU and knowing that he is from Versailles, staying in Ohio, could Dayton being an option?

Justice Sueing announced that he will play in college next season but no other decisions have been made. Very strange wording. Seems odd that he’d want to play one more season somewhere else.
