The E.J. Liddell situation is fast becoming a circus, with the NBA speculation, transfer portal rumors and family statements.

I don't see him going anywhere. With him working on extending his play and shooting range could be a sign of testing the NBA. Having someone else able to play the center position can help that in having him play all PF or even SF at times with Young. Does a lineup of Wheeler, Washington, Liddell, Young and Brunk make anything happen?

Washington announced he’s not coming back to Ohio State and staying in the draft. At the end of the season I didn’t see any way that would happen but he did have a good camp and G league so it makes more sense now, still a bit surprised though. It seems Liddell is coming back. OSU should still be very good next year but Washington’s scoring and shooting will be tough to replace.

Getting way ahead here but this team in 22/23 is going to have a huge overhaul. After this coming season, they’ll lose Young, Towns, Wheeler, Brunk, Sueing, Sotos, Ahrens, and most likely Liddell. I’m not quite sure how that extra year of eligibility thing works for covid and if any of them will use it but we could potentially lose 8 players after this coming season.

IMO, Towns and Sotos will have to step up their game before they will be terribly missed. Ahrens made big improvements for last season and I hope with Washington leaving he does the same for this year. Sueing, Young and Liddell all have good size, strength and skill to play multiple positions which can come in handy this season without Washington. My guess would be that they have worked on Meechie’s strength and he could see himself as a scoring threat the way he took shots last year.

As most had assumed, Liddell has announced he’ll be returning to OSU. Even without Washington this should be a really good team. Adding Brunk was huge, IMO, to allow Liddell to spend more time at the 4 spot this year. He won’t have to play center as much. Someone will have to step up on the perimeter though in Washington’s absence.

If Liddell wants to be seriously considered for the draft and play at the next level his game will have to be more perimeter.

AND he must learn to put it on the floor from the perimeter and take it to the basket.
I saw videos of Zed at summer practices as they were really working with him on his outside shot. He had a really good looking 3-point shot, albeit unguarded.

Ohio State picks up a commitment from 6-11 center Felix Okpara. Bumping the Bucks class of ‘22 to number 1

In the analysis of Felix, it says his offensive game is a work in progress. Hopefully he doesn’t turn out to be a bust like some other recent bigs(Amir Williams and Diallo). Definitely needed a big in this class though, especially with us losing Young, Brunk, and most likely Liddell after this season.

Says he is 6'11 and 210 lbs. That will not get it in the Big Ten.

Apparently every recruit should be at LeBron’s level

Yup, that’s exactly what I was saying in my post. I think every recruit should be a top 5 all time player. I won’t take anything less.

Apparently every recruit should be at LeBron’s level Lebron was recruited at 6’8 225 lbs, so it would be nice if he was at that level. 225 would make a difference.

This kid is still growing. When he first arrived from Nigeria a couple years ago, he was only 6-7. Too much preoccupation on his weight at the moment, that will take care of itself, once his verticle growth subsides. At the moment, he runs the court very well and has a beautiful shooting touch from both inside the paint and beyond the arc. This won't be a major construction project, folks!

I was envisioning more of a Ken Johnson type player.

I was envisioning more of a Ken Johnson type player. Good comparison. Watched some YouTube clips of him and that seems about right. Have him workout with Mickey Marotti when he gets here, he’ll have him bulked up in no time.

At 6-11 with long arms and jumping ability, he's a much better rim protector than anyone on the roster or since Holtmann's arrival.

And so is Banks, as he was just named a Master Strength and Conditioning Coach by their coaches association. The highest award that's given. But he will never be as famous as Coach Mick is in Ohio.

Somewhat off topic, but does anyone else watch TBT and Carmens Crew? Been fun watching them the last several years and playing well again this year after last years disappointing loss. Craft hasn’t played a whole lot of minutes but you can tell he’s not playing as much as he used to when he is in. Koufos has been a nice addition. Lighty is just a solid overall player, seems to do everything right.

Holtmann had a press conference yesterday and said Russell will join the team once he graduates from his current school. Good move on Etzler I think. He wasn’t going to see any minutes with how deep this years team will be.

I think he could be a redshirt into the transfer portal. I saw him play 3 times in my life, and I know that is not a bunch, but I never thought he was an elite D1 talent. Specially with the high school teams on his schedule. No offense to the kid because he may totally shock me, but I think BGSU may be a better fit.
