I'm looking for Crestview to take the league this year followed by SP and Mapleton. How are participation numbers looking for everyone?

Anything new with New London? They should know by now if they have enough. Don't be a St. Marys, wait and screw the whole league over.

Assuming new London will move forward with a full schedule if they haven't cancelled yet. If the season is in question, I wonder what kind of #'s they have right now? One can only assume it's in the 15-20 range. It would take a miracle to complete a season if such the case. Can't help but to wonder what has happened at NL. There seems to be no effort being given to the sports programs. Facilities are poor and a respectable weightroom is non existent. Good coaches from all sports are constantly leaving due to lack of support from anyone you can think of (Top to bottom). Kids and coaches can only handle Terrible seasons for so long. I look for the football program to not exist sooner than later.

How long would the other schools be ok with 7 teams for football in the FC?
Also is New London the only FC school having these type of problems with having enough kids out for football?

We all know Willard wants out of the SBC as seen by their desire to get in the N-10. The FC is an even better fit.

I’d hope that New London is making phone calls and letting other schools know about their little problem. No way would all ten of their opponents find other schools with open dates to play.

I guess if Western Reserve were to make the playoffs they’d get week 10 off. It’s just a shame for everyone involved when this happens.

Has the Firelands Conference ever been in this position before where a team may seriously be backing out just before the season starts?
Has New London had really bad numbers recently and now the bottom has dropped out? Is any other schools in danger of this also?

In the early 90’s Crestview didn’t play a year because of a failed school levy. Don’t remember if schools were able to find replacements or not

A school their size with 40 boys in a grade should be able to attract 8-12 boys in each class. Specially since all they offer is golf and cross country in the fall.

Heard today that 5 players have decided not to play and only have 13 now. Not sure 13 is enough to play 8 man. Even 18 in that league isn't enough, freshman will get hurt.

Would New London be in danger of losing students to neighboring schools as in South Central or Norwalk?

IF New London does not field 11 man football then players from last year could transfer and not have to sit out.

FC needs to be proactive and tell NL if they don’t have X amount of players by certain date than their conference schedule becomes JV only. That way the other conference schools can find replacement games. There are some open dates…oddly

You know it’s got bad when you use the marching band and cheerleaders as a bargaining chip to go out for football. If they are hoping that August 2nd will change things then I think they won’t be having football. I highly doubt that many kids are all of a sudden going to change their minds and play football if they’ve already decided not to.

Would New London be in danger of losing students to neighboring schools as in South Central or Norwalk? OHSAA allows public school athletes to participate in sports at neighboring public schools that their school does not offer. Private schools students have it slightly different.

Just curious about this meeting on August 2nd. If there isn’t enough players for them to go forward that day will a decision be made right there and then or will they hold out till the end of the week? I just think only giving everyone the two weeks before the season starts to fill those weeks of missing games is a shady deal.

If they don't field a varsity team, can they play a JV season? How does that work? I Feel like if the numbers aren't there now, they won't be on aug 2. This is so sad. This should never happen at New London. There were obviously some bad decisions made along the way by those running the show. It's a Possibility that chasing out all the locals from the community and replacing them with people not from the area hurt New London. In a town like NL, where there is not much, people that aren't from the area will not stay long term!!! The list of good coaches/educators that have been ran out is noticable. Not sure there will be recovery. Maybe they are replacing personnel in the wrong areas.
