Yes disappointing. Plesac, while has had a ton of tough luck, has struggled quite a bit. Aaron Civale has really struggled when not injured, and even Bieber has been up and down, although up lately. McKenzie has ace written all over him. I agree wholeheartedly that Clase is the real deal. The front office knew what they were doing when they acquired him for Corey Kluber. The rest of the bullpen has struggled at times, especially Shaw. I’m encouraged by the way Karinchak has been pitching. My comments were that I just don’t see this team as a serious deep playoff team due to the lack of pitching.

The team ERA and runs allowed is 5th in the AL which is well above average. Their runs scored is 7th which is just above the league average. I thought the pitching would be great but instead it's been only above average. I thought the hitting would be poor but instead it's been average. Fun team to watch and if we make the playoffs anything can happen.

GHS 1999, No one sees a deep playoff run. Thats what makes this team fun to watch. Very disappointing?? Your life must be miserable if watching this team is very disappointing.

Yikes. The only reply to that last comment is I hope you never have to go through what I did in the last year. And I will leave that alone. I think you are going overboard on what was said. I fully agree this is a fun team to watch and even said that in my first post. I will echo what cbus just said and just say the pitching has been above average and not great. Let’s be honest, it’s easy to get spoiled after watching some of the amazing pitching they have had in the last decade. I even bet if you asked Bieber, Civale, Plesac, Shaw, and Eli Morgan, they would probably tell you that they have been disappointed on the way they’ve pitched this season and that’s what I was getting at. When I mentioned that word, I simply was saying it wasn’t as good as I hoped it would be. That being said, the offense has highly exceeded everyone’s expectations. I think Josh Naylor is an amazing kid, Steven Kwan is an on base machine, Amed Rosario and Andres Gimenez have been amazing run producers. And well Jose is Jose. I really hope this team adds a few complementary pieces and makes some deep playoff runs in the next few years.

I'm interested to see how this young team responds to this tough 12-game stretch in the heat of a division race. 2 @padres, 4 @mariners, 3 vs Orioles, and 3 vs Mariners. All solid teams playing good ball will be fun to watch.

Great sweep of the Padres, now with a 4 game lead with 40 games to go this is Cleveland's division to lose.

Great sweep of the Padres, now with a 4 game lead with 40 games to go this is Cleveland's division to lose. Still have 8 games remaining with the Twins, so that lead could shrink/grow quickly depending on those matchups (also 4 games with the White Sox). And we end the year with a 6-game homestand vs the Royals...at least according to the ESPN website...that seems very odd.

Yeah the 6 game homestand to end the season against the Royals has something to do with the late start due to the lockout is what I've read.

Plesac heads to the IL with a right-hand fracture and Civale heads to the IL with right forearm inflammation. Guardians lose two starting pitchers in the middle of a tight pennant race. It will be very hard to overcome that. Twins have the advantage now.

Plesac has been bad all year and Civale has already missed most of the year and they’ve done ok without much production from either of them.

What's funny is Plesac fractured his hand punching the dirt on the mound after giving up a HR..... what a moron

A huge sweep of the Twins this weekend. Up 2.5 games on the White Soxs with 24 games to go. Have 4 remaining games with the White Soxs. This team is a lot of fun. Crazy to think they're in first right now and they have an average age that is younger than most minor league teams. Tito is a hell of a manager. Going to be a sad day when he steps down to retire.

Guardians magic number is 20. Who would've thunk it back in April? The fact we can even talk about a magic number to clinch a division is amazing given the youth and inexperience of this team. Wish I had put $1k on Guardians in Vegas in April. Clinch, winery not been exciting year

Guardians take 4 out of 5 against the Twins derailing the Twins playoff hopes. 15 games to go and a 4-game lead in the AL Central on the White Soxs heading into a 3-game series with them. One win this series against the White Soxs and the Guardians also gain the tiebreaker over them.

I think the Guard's magic number is now 10 with 14 games to go. It’s 9 now because of the Tie Breaker they now gained on the White Soxs

Right now the Guardians have a 5 game lead over the White Sox, technically 6 with the tiebreaker. It's pretty much over unless an epic collapse happens, but it's Cleveland so I won't count my chickens before they hatch yet. But if let's say the Guardians finished 7-7 to finish the final 14 the White Sox would have to go 12-2. That's what type of hill the White Sox have to climb

Here's a good site for tracking that (which has an option to toggle on tiebreakers): www.playoffmagic.com/mlb/league/

Riddle me this??? Why must they spend more money than they bring in?? Because they owe it to you?? Oh idk maybe because they have one of the top rotations lead by a CY Young candidate and on the other side a MVP player in Jose who they haven’t done much to surround with bats. We aren’t asking for mega millions but atleast try and add a solid bat or 2. I’d be curious to see the break down of profit vs spending the last 3-4 years. Right now 40% of the rotation is injured. Who is the Cy Young candidate? This year and WAY into the future, the only place they need a "solid bat" is catcher
