The name change will now become official. The lawsuit with the roller derby team was settled today, with both entities agreeing to use the name Guardians.
Anyway, getting back to baseball, Jose Ramirez will be returning next year, as the team picked up is $12M club option for 2022.
Though of course, the odds of there being a work stoppage next year are really high.

Agreed. I would be shocked if there wasn’t a work stoppage. Which is going to make it even harder for them to draw fans.
On the baseball end of things, the team will go as far as the starting pitching takes them. They found another stud in Cal Quantrill. They have 5 legit starters imo. Keeping them healthy is the key as we saw this year. Offensively, they need outfielders. I’ve seen enough of Oscar Mercado and Bradley Zimmer. I really like Myles Straw, but they need some corner outfielders to go with him. I’ll be interested to see if and how Josh Naylor comes back. He was really coming into his own when he broke his leg. It was a shame.

35% ownership. He was part of group that tried to buy Mets and supposedly is a billionaire. But, he's also part owner of several other sports teams. We shall see

MLB is not starting on time and the ? is does anyone really care? Only the 1% of die-hard baseball fans care about the lockout. All casual fans have fallen off years ago. MLB is dying. Could you imagine if the NFL or even the NBA had a lockout in todays time, everyone would be talking about it and tons of people would be outraged. I mean I barely even hear about this lockout thats how bad you know things are for baseball.

Nope! The only free-agent signing that has been made is for a backup catcher..............

according to an independent report, the Guardians made $71 million in operating income last year -- almost double their team payroll. IN addition, the Guardians made another $100 million in team value appreciation last season as well. Team is now worth $1.32 billion. Only one other major league franchise can match that -- the Pirates. 'The two franchises are rated as the ONLY TWO whose owners will not put a competitive team on the field in order to make money and are rated as the worst owners in baseball.

Must admit that I'm shocked the Tribe got this deal done. Jose obviously loves Cleveland and left ALOT of money on the table, considering the top 3B's in the game are making well over $30 million per year currently.

Guardians lose opener 3-1 . You will see all year pitching will keep them in games but with this line up if the opposing team scores 4 runs or more it’s an automatic L. Good Job Dolans! Keep saving that cash !

Oh idk maybe because they have one of the top rotations lead by a CY Young candidate and on the other side a MVP player in Jose who they haven’t done much to surround with bats. We aren’t asking for mega millions but atleast try and add a solid bat or 2. I’d be curious to see the break down of profit vs spending the last 3-4 years. |

Allow me to answer my own question….Every MLB team will receive a minimum of 100Mill a year via TV contract. This is without sponsorship, tickets or any other revenue sharing(110mill) last year. The baseline income is 100+mill per team.
