Let’s talk about the 2024 season. Never too early to talk about high school football. Who do you think is the early favorite? Does Shelby win again? Ontario should be loaded. Pleasant was much improved will they go higher? How will Clear Fork and Marion Harding improve?

Pleasant was much improved will they go higher? How will Clear Fork and Marion Harding improve? to me, Shelby is the favorite until they are knocked off. Ontario will certainly be formidable. However, I am looking forward to the district tournament on basketball first as it should be a fun district to watch. Very early prediction though for fun and off of the top of my head 1. Shelby 1a. Ontario 3. Galion 4. River Valley 4a.Pleasant 5. Highland 6. Harding 7. Clear Fork

3 may be a bit high for Galion. They lose some really key players. I’m thinking they are a middling team.

Bodpegn Miller’s recruitment has blown up. Approaching 20 D1 offers, multiple power 5 offers. OSU visited him at school on Wednesday

Still very impressive but I think Shelby’s Devito is much more of a natural and more skilled QB

As a raw high level athlete at 6'2 or taller there are multiple positions in a D1 college football team you could fill. As an average athlete at 5'9 your D1 college chances are very limited unless you are a great DB. Both good high school QBs but after high school Miller has the greater potential from what is being said.

But solely on a high school football field I would rather have Devito at QB. Millers Athleticism and Build definitely make him a bigger prospect for the next level

Shelby won that game I believe at Ontario.

I believe at least as for OSU, Miller is being looked at as a receiver, not QB.

Millers Athleticism and Build definitely make him a bigger prospect for the next level This isn't going to be the perfect comparison, but I view this argument through the lens of having Jalen Santoro at QB for Bellevue in 2012 or Brennan Armstrong for Shelby in 2017. It ain't the best argument because Armstrong was wonderfully built to be a QB at the D1 level, but between Santoro and Armstrong, only one of them made it to the state championship game despite very different builds/abilities. Maybe another comparison would be...would you rather have Micah Hyde or DeVito? Either way, I overall agree with the take. The only thing that stands to be seen is how DeVito performs when he doesn't have Ramsey on the other side of things. I do hope that his sophomore year at school gave him a ton of experience to go off of going forward. He saw the field/floor against four different teams this past year who played in a state championship game at some point in recent years (Glenville, Ottawa-Glandorf, Lutheran West, and...Maysville...bleh).

Had they played together, Santoro would have been a good receiver for Armstrong.

Devito is more natural at the QB position. He’s built for it. He’s mobile, sees the field pretty well, and has a decent arm. He’s matured a little after trying to do too much his freshman year and throwing too many INT’s. He, unfortunately, is just too short to go D1 at QB. He’d be great at D3 and maybe D2 where he might also get converted to a DB or slot receiver if he didn’t work out as a QB.
Miller is just what most high school coaches do. Put your most athletic kid at QB. He didn’t impress me as a QB. He was just the most athletic kid on the field.

Both are QBs for similar reasons. Confident, aggressive minded, can make plays with their feet and good athletes.

Miller is being recruited as an ATH. He’s very fast, shifty, and long. There is interest in him as a safety and wide receiver. He is going to do some camps as a wideout this summer, where he likely plays at the next level. High majors will probably roll in soon, more than the 3 or 4 offers that have for HM. He will finish with at least 25 offers.

Both can have good high school careers in different ways.

This will come down to Shelby and Ontario. The best QB's in the league who are dynamic. That game is going to be as exciting as last year's game was.
