Well he gets to play football and against John Carroll and Mount Union, we will see if he gets to play and what happens. I have no clue on what is going to happen. I know the BW QB coach really likes Chase's skills. He knew about Chase before we even got to the first football camp. He had talked with Chris Hawkins before we even got there that day. I thought that was the weirdest thing, because it didn't happen at the any other 24 football camps we went to last year. So Chase is excited, and I'm excited for him.
Skills-wise - Chase is the best QB in the league last year. No one can tell me any different. Any coach would take Chase coming into the season last year over any QB in the MOAC Red..maybe with the exception of the Pleasant QB, because of his speed. But Chase beats him on arm strength and accuracy. Chase's injury changed the whole season for him though. It happened in the second game. So I'm not going to say anything more on this, I don't care if there are 15 QB's on BW, we will see where Chase ends up. You can go to a Division I,IA or II school and never play...whoopee! You weren't good enough to be the man anyway. I don't want to see Chase sit the bench.I want to see Chase play, even if it's on a Sunday afternoon playing on a Junior Varsity team (which BW has). Chase has what most quarterbacks don't have..that's size and arm strength. I'm betting he will do just fine on any team. Go Yellow Jackets!!!

You do realize that Pleasant's QB got a full ride to a D1 school. I have a hard time believing that Chase was the best QB regardless of injury. You don't take a kid to a D1 program if you don't think he has the tools to play the position. I think one of the most over looked QB was actually the fairbanks kid. That said good luck to all the kids continuing on.

Don't know how I didn't mention craycraft. He has size and barn strength. Against Harding he was airing that ball out. Didn't connect on many but man could he air that thing out. On my list I still have 4-5 QBs over Galions in the moac. And all of them coulda went D3 as well. Not sure where they all needed up. Craycraft d1 he's sitting first year but he's gonna have a shot next year I read to start. Warner went to play baseball. Not sure about mccarrel and BVs qb. Sayre coulda played D3 for a school in Michigan or here but wasn't interested in the cost without scholarship, but good luck to chase. Would like to see all moac former and present succeed.

Pleasant QB went to Youngstown State University...Division 1A or whatever they call that division. YSU was a fabulous camp. The QB coach told Chase, "When you go talk to the head coach next..Whatever you do don't mention you are from Galion. He still is ****** that they lost the state championship to Galion in 1985..." LOL The Fairbanks QB impressed me his Junior year, but against us his senior year..he made some bad throws..started the game off pretty good, but he just didn't impress me that much this year. Plus we beat them...we didn't beat anyone last year. Haha! I liked the kid from Cardington. He's got good vision of the field. He's just a little small. The best QB last year was from Pleasant, but he at times doesn't impress me too much either...just something about his throws. lacks a little arm strength. But I still like those two, I hope ALL MOAC red or blue QB's do fabulous in college, and I get to read wonderful stories about them. Good luck to all. Chase had 3 choices this year: BW, Heidelberg (who was offering him his Master's degree (5th year), if he maintained a 3.0 GPA throughout college or walk-on to Tiffin. Chase just loves the QB coach at BW. It makes a kid feel special when the coach and QB coach really reaches out to you and lets you know they want you on the team. It's understandable. So I'm backing his decision, he will try and make the best of it. AND I'll hope that we can get that American Legion Scholarship for the next 3 years. haha! That would be awfully nice for all the abuse I got from all you guys on here throughout the year...picking on my Galion team and my injured 5th-rated MOAC QB son. hahaha!

If your son was 6-2 195 with good speed and an accurate passer with above above average arm strength he'd be playing DI football.

You are missing the MOST important factor, and I'm actually very..very surprised you would leave it out knowing how intelligent you are are (I might be losing faith in you now though.).....You are right you need all those, but you can't play D1 football if going into your senior year you didn't have at least a 2.5 GPA..actually the eliminating factor no matter how big, strong or fast you are. Come on WF!

My chance to raid the BW store. *** AND our kicker, CM, was our best player last year. He was amazing! I hope he takes Miami Univ. up on their walk-on offer to have a chance to be a kicker on that team. He has an amazing family story. I just read it the other day. Congrats to him!!!

Come on WF! I think it was raised from 2.0 to 2.3 last year and it works in combination with your ACT / SAT scores if you are a first year player. If you look to red-shirt you can still enter with a 2.0 I thought. Not all that different from D2. Now D3 sets their own marks and that is why almost anyone cant be on a D3 football roster.

The number of these exceptions vary by the University and by the League. Remembering this fact is due to my 3.21 GPA.

Or whatever that award that goes to top football player in Ohio goes to. He was that running back from Perry...got a chance to play at Ashland University..late in recruiting effort. I don't know if he was given a scholarship or he just walked on. He's done pretty well for them though..from the 2 games I have seen in person. I remember this from my 72 on the ASVAB.

What didn't help in what way??? I said "very talented athletes'. Maybe I should have been more specific for some. When I said "very", I thought it obvious I was talking about high 4 and 5 star athletes. Top football programs aren't going to waste one of their allowed "exceptions" on a borderline player. The player you speak of was not good enough to play at Ohio State. He probably could have played at MAC school but might have had to wait his turn. He could play right away at Ashland U. I hope you can be patient enough to wait your turn to see your son play. Not all of Ohio's Mr. Footballs have been good enough to play high Div1 football and some choose to play at a lower level. There have been some that didn't have a very successful college career even though a highly rated Mr. Football. I forget that you said you only started following football closely when your son came of age. Next year his football career he will no longer be a subject for the high school football MOAC/KMAC forum. He will be one of lucky ones to move to the College Football Forum when talked about.

MASSILLON, Ohio-- The Associated Press will name Perry High School running back Keishaun Sims the 2015 Ohio Mr. Football on Wednesday.
Sims ran for 3,108 yards and 44 touchdowns, which are both Stark County records.
*** I heard this kid didn't have the grades to get a Division I scholarship. He played right away for Ashland. It might have just been a rumor about his grades though.

That's one of the 3 things every recruiter told us all the camps that would stop you from getting a scholarship no matter how good you were...you know why? Because you can't qualify through the NCAA Eligibility Center. If you never had a child in high school, you might know their strict rules. I'm sure a person as wise as you are "WF" would know that. I can send you a link if you don't. Also if I ever move to a college football forum, how can I tick off any of you guys? That wouldn't be any fun now. No offense babymaker, but this forum could be that if anyone wanted to keep talking about 2017. Just because the discussion may get a little off the topic doesn't mean it cannot keep going or another forum needs started that would not be used. It usually means there is no discussion on topic but posters have some interest that was sparked by the topic.
So bring us back on topic with what you have to say. After 12 active pages we are still looking to talk MOAC for 2017 if there are interesting posts. rather than post a complaint, get us back on topic with your thoughts about MOAC 2017.

The last 2 D1 galion players apparently chose other options.

I distinctly recall you using the excuse of not following football closely when you needed help understanding a football rule or OHSAA bylaw. You wouldn't have to check this forum if you were REALLY a football fan, to find out "how many kids go to school" or what Division schools will be in. That particular Mr. Football player must have the same personality defect as you, no patience. He needed the assurance of starting from day one, instead of going to a bigger school and having to wait his turn. I didn't forget "grades", AND other academic criteria must be considered, they're such an obvious requirement. HOWEVER, you're living in a vacuum if you don't think Universities like Notre Dame, Stanford, Northwestern, Duke and Vanderbelt to name a few, don't have different academic requirements for admitting football players VS the general student population. As compared to qualifications at Kent State, Akron or Michigan State. Ohio State has raised their entrance requirements considerably over the past decade. in 2016 the middle 50% of the Freshman class had ACT scores between 29 and 33. 98% of those admitted were in the the top 25% of their Senior class. I'd guess the other 2% included athletes, given the special disposition I mentioned. I didn't have to worry about my kids academics. Both were in the top 25% of their Senior classes, one Top 10%, at a difficult academic public school.
