CF QB is a MUCH better runner, Cam Todd is a better passer. Injured in the 6th game. In 5 and half, games had 13 TD passes with only 3 INTs. CF QB isn't listed in MOAC passing leaders. Because they platooned their qb's for the first part of the season. Good point.

Just looked at teams. About how I was thinking they’d be. Rv has no one on either first team.

HM is purely a coaches pick. Not how you thought they would be? Good or bad?

Now I didn't follow the league this year except for 2 games I did go to, but tell me how the leading receiver in the league (Buckeye Valley - Joey Verdes) gets 1st team offense with 18 more catches for the season than Takoda Crisman who gets no recognition?? Takoda Crisman had a little more than half of Verdes's touchdowns and even more yards than Verdes had on 18 less catches. That makes no sense to me. A guy who gets 1st team offense catches the ball 49 times and only scores 4 touchdowns for the season? The bar is set pretty low. Crisman should have at least got 2nd team offense. The kid had 23.6 yards per catch.

Because they platooned their qb's for the first part of the season. Good point. He runs the ball 4 times more often than he passes. He's a TB playing QB. As is often the case in a run first and run second offense

Its not based on stats solely. 1st a coach has to put the kid up for 1st team consideration. 2nd you need to get more votes than anyone else. 3rd you have to leave an impression on coaches (see #2). 4th win some games. Good teams get more kids on 1st and 2nd team. I will say this you will be surprised the # of coaches that don't even put kids up. Stats that were put up during non league can help or hurt you depending on how they do in league.

galiontiger, What's the latest on Chase?

|
Post by galiontiger on Nov 7, 2017 16:26:06 GMT -5
galiontiger, What's the latest on Chase? He finished out his JV season. The first 3 of 7 games he was only getting like 2 series to do what he could do...and it usually was in the 3rd or 4th quarter. He was looking so uncomfortable and bad. LOL The last 4 games, Chase really came on. He was throwing for more yards then the Sophomore on the team (who is pretty darn good QB too.) Chase started drawing 4-6 series a game and was coming in during the 2nd Qtr then. He just has to learn not to try and do too much. He wants to scramble around side-to-side too much. But with his big arm, he always seem to make the throw when it's like 3rd down and 15. LOL BW has this play they like to do with him. He's steps forward like he's going to run, and then he zips it across the middle to wide-open receiver. I swear it fools the defense every time. When Chase broke out, it was his 4th game of the season against John Carroll, they brought Chase in, and we were down like 21-3. Chase threw for over 100 yards in 2 series. We just barely lost to them 21-18. His team only won 2 games out of 7, but they won the last game of the season, 20-7 over Heidelberg..a team who beat them 24-0 in game 3. We also just lost to Case Western by one point (28-27) after Chase led them down for a touchdown, and we let them score with like 12 secs in the game, they went for the 2-point conversion and made it (the QB dove in mid air for the endzone stripe. He lost the ball in mid air but they say the ball crossed the line first. it was sooo close.) So Chase's team really started playing better at the end of the season. It was a fun year. Personally, Chase is looking so much better now running the plays. He looks so much more composed "when" he has time to get rid of it. Chase is also getting bigger and faster now too. His knee has held out fabulously. I was really worried too. Baldwin Wallace varsity team is sitting at 6-3 now with a Junior QB. Hell! They were 2-8 I think last year. They aren't making any changes next year at QB. Though the coaches really like Chase. They are ALWAYS telling him (and even me) a bunch of stuff about next year. One coach told Chase that he had more raw talent than that big tight-end from Ashland last year who is playing in the NFL now. I think they might be over-hyping Chase a bit too soon. haha! I think they just want him to stay there and not leave. ha! Of course I always had dreams for him to play Division I or Division II football, but unfortunately its not about me. Though it should be. hahah! I told him I would make some calls if he wanted me too, but he likes being at Baldwin Wallace. I saw the last week that Tiffin was down to their 3rd string QB, and they start a redshirt freshman the whole season. Chase had an option to go to Tiffin too. But Baldwin Wallace is soooo much better of a college/campus than Tiffin is. That's a dreary campus. I still think Chase is going to be an amazing quarterback in any Division. He just has all the tools you would want in college QB, if he can just remain focused, keep learning the plays and get some game-time experience. ....oooh he's doing great in his college courses so far too. Sooooo proud of him!!!

GT, after chases sophomore year if he doesn’t have a chance at QB1 I would look elsewhere. I also heard about tiffin running through QBs, but to play on the D2 level is even solid. D2 isn’t a big drop off from d1 in some Perspectives. Just my opinion tho. Hope he works well in offseason, that’s the key. Like to see moac kids do well at next level!

No, I totally understand. I can't see Chase beating out the senior QB next year, though they have told Chase he could be a 3-year starter for BW. The current QB has been their starter since mid-way thru his sophomore year. He looks to me as a solid QB. If I was the coach, I'd really struggle benching a senior QB with that much experience over a Sophomore QB coming up. I expect Chase to still be on the JV team next year to get more experience, then taking over his Junior year. I guess we will have to wait and see. (Baldwin Wallace has sophomore QB now who is definitely not bad also. The difference with Chase all the other BW QB's including the starter. Is Chase has such a strong arm, and it shows in all the throws he makes. The ball gets there so much quicker, even on little 5 yard dump passes. It's not even close compared to the other QB's.)
I don't know if Chase could play as a 5th year senior or not in Division III (?) But I don't see Chase leaving Baldwin Wallace, because he just doesn't want to start over. He loves the Baldwin Wallace. Who can blame him? There's only two ways he would leave: 1. If he came to me and said see what's out there for him or 2. Some team has been following his grades this year. (there was a few team interested in at one time: Bowling Green, Kent State, Findlay, Tiffin and Ohio Dominican.) A lot of them lost interested when they found out his grades, so maybe one will contact him. But then again it's HIGHLY unlikely, and hell I don't know it might even be illegal to contact a player on another team..maybe not illegal but probably unethical. ..another thing Chase could start over though..he has an advantage over other kids...He got that American Legion Legacy Scholarship, that scholarship is suppose to be "possibly" renewed up to 6 years (based on his financial needs and the money donated that year). It paid for everything this year, except $600.
I'm going to try and post a HUDL video of the some of the last 3 games where he started to really to come on. I follow all the MOAC guys too..and a couple other guys who weren't in the MOAC but are on division 1 teams too.

It is possible to play any sport at the D3 level in your 5th year. Athletes have 10 semesters of eligibility. However you can only compete in 4 of those semesters for a single sport. Competing is considered practicing after the first athletic competition takes place. This is information that should have been given to Chase before any practices at the beginning of the season. Every athlete at the D3 level, and I'm assuming the other divisions as well, have to sit through about 2 hours of mandatory NCAA information and paperwork.

As far as I know the only kid guaranteed to be 1st team is Matt Chase as Central District Def play of the year.

And accounting to max preps the leader has 16.5, which prob isn’t getting all the stats because he has 20. But who knows. I’ve just seen the print out at work and heard from a couple people and his highlight video. When does all state come out officially ?

I think all state come out this week.
