Got a decent role player in the portal today. Bonner kid from Shaker Heights who has been at Baylor . A guy who can provide depth and ball handles and defense off the bench. We can sure use him I think.

Looks like a good back up to Thornton, without having to rely on someone else running point when he is out. Unless Gayle has been putting in the work we still need to see a 3pt marksman who can spread the floor.

The way Gayle shot the 3 ball in the Big Ten tournament hopefully that continues into next season.

We can sure use him I think. I like the addition as well, what I have read on him is a very good defender and just floor leader. And I like that he played at Baylor where they have had some really good, tough teams lately. Oregon St transfer Glenn Taylor was also visiting ohio State recently. Averaged almost 12 pts a game last year. He had several good scoring games last year, including a 28 point game against Cal.

Am guessing at least one more inbound and outbound portal .
People aren't saying it now,,,but I think our two portal guys will be looked at very fondly during the season. From the video I've watched these two guys are good solid pickups.

Evan Mahaffey transfers to Ohio State from Penn St. Will have 3 years of elig . Another solid role player. 6'6 athlete from Moeller. Kid will contribute. I think we'll be very solid this next year. Quickly putting together some nice depth at all positions.

Can someone explain Seth Towns being in the transfer portal?

Barely beating Oakland by 5 has me worried for the upcoming game against the Aggies.

Jamison Battle looked good, him and Thornton will be our two best players. Okpara started but had some foul issues so Key ended up playing more minutes I believe and ended up with a team high 17 points. Mahaffey started but I’m not sure what the coaches are seeing in him, only one game but even one of the commentators one time said something about his rough night.
At least we didn’t lose to James Madison though.

Honestly don’t remember a whole lot from Bonner. He played, I think he had a couple assists maybe but that’s about all I remember. Don’t think he made any mistakes really but also didn’t stand out.

Texas A&M was ranked 15 but they didn’t seem that good, I feel like they’ll have quite a few losses. We had a chance to win that game.
Thornton is going to be our main player. We’ll go as he goes.
Battle is our second best player in my opinion but needs to be on the court, he can’t be in foul trouble and fouling out every game. We need him and Thornton on the floor together for our offense.
Gayle hasn’t looked anything like he did in the big ten tourney last year. It’s obviously early but hopefully he plays like he did then.
Key needs more touches in the paint when he’s in. I feel like he has some decent post moves and can score, but he hasn’t gotten it much when he is in.

Nice win over Alabama tonight. Thornton and Gayle were awesome. Gayle has really been coming on these last few games. Bonner has also been shooting well lately which is huge since that’s not really his game. Maybe this team can surprise some people this year.

Bucks looked good tonight vs an obviously over-rated #17 Alabama. Refs were awful both ways , never seen so many fouls called in a college game

Why were they obviously over rated? They were 31-6 last year, made the sweet sixteen, and this year were averaging the most points in the country. I think they’re way better than Texas A&M. Ohio State did a great job defending them and controlling the game, even with a ridiculous amount of fouls against them.
Agreed on the amount of whistles though. There was hardly any flow to the game in the second half as there was practically a whistle on every possession.

it was a tough loss for sure. I do see however, significant improvement from game one . The team plays hard, play together they have depth and they have good shooters. Sometimes you don’t lose a game but rather your opponent wins the game and I kind of think that’s how Yesterdays game was .Penn State just played incredible the last 15 minutes and it’s not like Ohio State played terrible,It’s just Penn State scored virtually every possession and you gotta make shots and they were making shot after shot and they were pretty well defended they just went in.
If anything, these kids learned you can’t play 30 minutes hard—-gotta play 40.

Good bounce back win after the Penn State letdown. Can’t go 1-15 from 3 every game but the one 3 was a big one. Thornton was off in the first half but got it going more in the second. Gayle with a nice game too. Glad to see them hang on against a physical UCLA team.

In many respects, this game was played more like a mid-season B1G bruiser game.

First half was awful to watch. 2nd was better,,,good tough bounceback win away from home. Team plays well together,, unselfish. Legit top 25 worthy imo.

Bucks have a big game tonight at Indiana in a place we’ve had trouble winning. We are actually favored by 1.5 points.
This team has potential to be Holtmans best at OSU. These guys seem like they have really meshed and role play and depth is right there too.
