You heard wrong. Davies and Verdes came to BV from Liberty but this isn't their first year at BV.

Clear Fork has the best defensive line I've seen this year. I would imagine Pleasant will have to throw some to win this game.

That was Hogg's best game of the year. He showed some speed I hadn't seen out of him before. Harding has a very good team. Last week was just a case of two good teams going toe to toe. One had to win and one had to lose. I thought it was a very even matchup. FWIW, BV really should have beaten RV much worse than they did. That was a game where from the 2nd quarter on I didn't think the issue was in doubt. My prediction is Harding does much the same to them this week. Unless, like I said, they for whatever reason are still thinking about BV. I can't imagine why that would be though. It seemed to me there was a lot of mutual respect after that game so really nothing to dwell on.

I think you're not giving the BV offense enough credit for what they did against Harding. I've been watching BV for the better part of the last 15 years and this is by far the most offensive talent I've seen from them. They've put up good numbers against just about everyone except Pleasant (where they admittedly laid an egg). I was impressed by Harding on both sides of the ball last week. They made mistakes but both teams did. I'll agree the continued onsides kicks were curious, but hey the first two worked so why not. I honestly think they win this one this week pretty comfortably IF they come to play and don't let BV beat them twice. RV did not impress me at all when they played BV.

Galion, my point was that BV got smacked in the mouth and did not respond. I was very disappointed in the way our kids played. Absolutely their worst game of the year across the board. Their character will be tested this coming week.

Another thing to keep in mind regarding BV is the sheer size of our district. When you're talking drive times, it can be a wide range from one side of the district to another. For instance, I live in the NE corner of the district so my drive to Clear Fork this year is about 40 minutes. Not something I'm looking forward to but not hateful either. My friends who live in the SW corner of our district though, which is the extreme SW corner of Delaware County, have a 30-40 minute drive to get to my house (maybe longer depending on Delaware traffic), so their drive to Clear Fork will most likely be closer to 1:30. Not saying this is factoring in any possible thinking by BV administration but it is a consideration. Our land area presents us challenges that a lot of other districts don't face.
Personally I would hate to see BV leave the MOAC. I know the previous AD wanted to push us towards the OCC, but I just don't see BV competing at that level at the moment. That may change 10-15 years down the line. BV will not become Olentangy for certain, but the district is growing in population, and development in Delaware County is spreading quickly. If 15 years from BV has outgrown the MOAC then they may need to move, but there is no sense in getting beat up in the meantime.

Gates, Agreed, and if what I'm hearing is true, I can't believe he is being allowed to finish the season. If true, should've been done on the spot.

BTW, congrats to Alder on their MOAC title. That is an example of a well-run program.

brownsguy, Gates is spot on with a lot of what he says about in-game mismanagement, and it has been an ongoing issue. I'm hearing rumblings of off the field issues as well that, if true, the administration will be forced to deal with. IMO, the program is in a state of disarray because there is no idea of how to run a program, and it goes beyond just coaching on the field. You can do and think what you want, but I would suggest not being so judgemental without being aware of everything that's going on.

NFHS has mandated that all participating states have a pitching rest requirement based on pitch counts instead of innings, but has left the specifics of the implementation up to each individual state. I would expect something very soon because they will be starting preseason meetings for coaches and umpires in January.

I'd swear I read or heard that somewhere but I don't care enough to go look it up. I do know that OHSAA regulations begin at 7th grade. Now whether what I said is correct, again don't know for sure. No matter, time to move on to players that are here.
