I don't think moving back next year would allow him an extra year of basketball. I think the rules were changed a few years ago to state that you had six years of scholastic play. This was done to keep parents from red shirting their kids in 8th grade just like they are doing here. He could move back, and still be a freshman academically but would not be eligible his senior season because that would be his 7th season.
Either way, this is way too much talk for someone who isn't even in the state much less the moac. I agree with moacmomma. Let's move on.

BV will have to replace 4 starters and their top bench player from last season. They should have a little more size this year though.

Sounds like there is enough in flux for everyone right now that it really makes tabbing a preseason favorite difficult. While I would expect more than not among the "don't think they'll play" crowd to actually be suited up when the season begins, a lot of our early season favorites could be starting some very green, albeit talented, players early on. This could mean this year's title could come down to the simple issue of scheduling. If one team has to play some tough early league games before those players have a chance to develop, it could put them behind the 8-ball as far as the standings go. I've been trying to find a complete BV schedule, but the one from the school website only shows 14 games. Anyone have a link to complete schedules for all the teams? The MOAC site is still stuck on 15-16.

Your son has a very healthy attitude. Even if he wasn't going to play in college, being all-league isn't going to get you anything outside of a dinner.

IMO, people get way too caught up in these all-league teams. It's a completely political discussion, and the best players often do not get the recognition they deserve. All you have to do is look at the last few years in basketball to see that. Coaches won't vote for someone because they don't like their attitude or think they're dirty, or whatever. It's just an extremely flawed process, and one that, frankly, isn't worth getting worked up about. Now, back to crying in my coffee....

Yep, the quarterback who played against Harding last year was Tim Schilling. Tim was the quarterback for his junior season, but moved out of the position for his senior year until Spaulding got hurt. That injury had occurred 2 games before against Pleasant. BV's offense was entirely different after the injury. I'd also say that an additional issue this year would be no Gabe Miller on offense. Gabe had great speed and was a nice weapon for a quarterback to have at his disposal. That's not to say that they don't have some decent speed this season, but I just don't see the separation that Miller and the other receivers were able to get at times last year.

Not trying to be a smart--- here 4 but when did you see Spaulding play last year? He missed the Harding game as it was after he broke his arm vs Pleasant. I'll agree Ben's stats aren't as good this year as last but I'll attribute it to the line play in front of him. Last years line was exponentially better.

Agreed. I should have added that there are some kids that have and are continuing to play hard every week. It's pretty easy to pick out who they are. On a side note about the coaches, there was one that should have been kicked out of the game Friday night. His conduct toward the officials was embarrassing to me as someone associated with BV.

I'm hearing that BV could be down 3-4 players for up to half the season for an incident over homecoming weekend. Don't have any substantiation to this other than it comes from someone whose word I trust. Also, don't know who, just the overall number. If true, it could vastly affect the MOAC race and BV's chances to compete for a league title.

I'm sure a multitude of things, but as I've said before, there were games before and after JA that they just didn't look very interested in being there. I thought the first half vs. Johnstown looked that way, and then they woke up and played to potential in the second half. The Fairbanks game they were absolutely dominated on the line, and were lucky to get a win. Unfortunately I just didn't see a lot of kids playing with a lot of heart, and I think as the season has gone on, the coaching staff has lost the team. For the Harding game, they were missing several key players for most likely various reasons. Some grades, some for things I think happened at homecoming. All in all, a season to forget on Coover Rd.

An Harding will take care of them next week. This will not be difficult. As I said before the Pleasant game, I don't see another win on BV's schedule. I fully expect next week to be uglier than this week and tonight was REALLY ugly.

Babymaker, they had similar issues vs Fairbanks. What does that tell you? Lol. That being said, you are correct in that pleasant does have nice speed on their d-line. Just not as fast as BV was making them appear last night.

Look I picked pleasant to win based on the concerns I've had for BV this entire season. I'm just giving an honest assessments of both teams. Nothing pleasant did caused the things I listed above. Now, I'll give pleasant all the credit in the world for NOT having the same issues. Their kids were fired up and played with energy the whole night, something BV couldn't or wouldn't match. Seriously, I quit counting the number of tackles that BV missed for no other reason than not having the desire to make the effort.

4, it was lack of heart and desire coupled with some very questionable coaching decisions imo. Leadership is very lacking on this team.

Did you watch BV tonight? Props to Pleasant for taking care of business, but if you think that was any kind of impressive performance, you're nuts. With a few exceptions, BV might as well have stayed on the bus. Kids were walking off the field, arguing in the huddle, very questionable coaching decisions, complete disorganization at times, linemen just getting outright beat on the first step. Does that paint an accurate picture f how bad the barons were tonight? And this was still a game going into the fourth quarter. A good team would have put a team like BV away early tonight not let them stick around. Pleasant may finish up at 9-1 or 8-2 but that is a reflection of the overall weakness of the moac this year rather than them being a really good team.

28-7 Pleasant final. BV not showing much interest in playing football right now. My guess is they don't win another game.
Pleasant didn't really impress me much. As bad as BV was tonight, this had no business being a game beyond the first quarter, but the Spartans couldn't put them away even though they had opportunities.

7-7 at half at pleasant. Pleasant outplayed BV in the first half but failed to take advantage of redzone opportunities.

This BV fan believes that if given 10 shots, BV would probably win 2. I'm anxious to see the outcome of the Harding-Alder game tonight. I think Alder wins, but I would not be shocked in the least to see Harding win especially with the game being in Marion.

Willard Fillmore, I just don't see it that way. I see a grab of the NECK, not the jersey. I'm not arguing with anybody that sees it differently. I'll freely admit I wasn't the one standing 10 feet away from the play either. I, unlike some others, can understand and appreciate that different people can look at the same thing and see different things. IF he grabbed him by the neck as I see it, it should have been a penalty regardless of whether it was a "horse collar". IF he grabbed him by the jersey, it was a hard violent and LEGAL tackle which I would have no issue with. Its just not how I see the play from the angle in the video.
As for your wussification comment, you'd better just accept that things that were legal and accepted 20-30 years ago in football are gone. Either the sport adapts to the changing landscape of injury concerns especially with the head and neck, or it will fade away. Whether you like it or not, it's fact. There's certain things that I don't like about that, but then when I watch a DB launch themselves at a defenseless receiver and lead with their head, I get it. It's going to happen regardless of what any one of us thinks. You can either accept it and move on or be miserable about it.

That matchup is a couple weeks away and a lot could happen but right now if I had to predict, I'd say Harding wins this year by at least 10. I said before the year they were a sleeping giant if they could play disciplined football. They may have had the best skill position players I saw last year but they were undisciplined all around. I haven't seen them personally yet but they seem to be doing just that. Really wish I could see the alder-Harding game this week.
