Well I just saw Galion scrimmage Madison. They had it set up where you couldn't touch the QB until the very last part of the scrimmage when they brought out the chains. We struggled on offense. I was hoping out offense would do better at moving the ball. We didn't. We didn't get one first down in 2 tries at the end. We are struggling to run and slowing down the pass rush. My son didn't look good rolling out to throw. Our defense didn't play too bad, gave up a few big plays, but we didn't let them score in 2 tries at the end. I'll take that. We are soooo young. Our young guys (JV team) did VERY well. I was impressed with their intensity. They moved the ball and scored a couple of touchdowns. Galion's future is very bright.
I'm not too concerned yet, Madison is a decent team. Plus it was only our first scrimmage. The best test in my eyes will be when we face Centerburg this Saturday when its more like a game. We had a couple of our kids who couldn't play either. We will get better. My team is going to be ok...please say I'm right. hahaha!

Well I was there for the first part of varsity Madison's oline looks very weak this year which sucks because we have very good skilled players . I don't see us being able to run the ball very good. I actually didn't like how Madison looked other then the receivers. I thought our defense looked weak. I thought galion looked terrible I don't expect them to win more then 4 games this year. I really liked there qb though he has a very good arm . Madison probably go 1-2 in out of conference play beating River valley and losing to st Francis and shelby

Well I didn't think you Madison looked bad. They got some great receivers. The question will be can their quarterback get them the ball? He looked ok at times, but most of their quarterbacks struggled a bit. That Tyrell kid is very good. I can see why he got recruited by Kentucky. My son needs to be able to find the receivers open more quickly. I already made point of that on this site. He wants to always throw deep when he can't find a receiver open; he's got to learn to just dump the ball off and pick up 3-5 yards on certain plays. There's nothing wrong with that. Hopefully our offense will get it together. I will be mad if we only win 4 games this season. I will not be happy. We are going to start 3-0. That's my prediction.

Your son stood out from the rest of the galion squad. I thought you guys had some other ok players but from what I seen only you son stood out. Madison probably has the best receiving crew I've seen since I've been around Madison football. What Madison lacks is a good rb and a good oline. Madison always has a good size line but not this year. I don't know that I've seen a worse varsity oline at Madison. The rb is ok but nt great. I like tresten at qb he's not bad. However I wish we had your son throwing to these receivers. Also Madison will have tyrell at qb probably a third of the time he actually throws a really nice ball, he was the qb in junior high. With the other receivers we have this year he will actually get to throw the ball some and not just run

Well we wish you guys the best of luck this season, My son, one of our receivers and I will be at our first game against Shelby rooting you on. We always used to go watch the Massillon/Perry game on that first Thursday. I thought it was a nice touch doing this one on a Thursday too, plus it's much closer for us.

Hearing some rumors of unrest among Pleasant fans in regards to what they deem "under-performance" from Coach Cook's teams.
Anyone else hear anything about this?

babymaker...what makes you think you can beat us? You haven't even played us yet? haha! It was our first scrimmage, plus it wasn't even a real scrimmage. We didn't look that good to me, but I still say my son is going to put WAY more rushing yards this year. You are going to see a more aggressive runner from him. Hell! He's going to have to run for life probably most season. haha! I still think our team is going to be decent, but I guess we are just going to have to wait and see. A good test (in my eyes) will be when we play a decent Centerburg team Saturday. A team who had a decent record last year. Anyone know anything about them? Ooh and Good luck to River Valley!

I didn't say they would beat you. They are no where as close to as young as your team so there for I would give the early season nod to them over you. That said I was curious to the logic to see if I could get something to look forward to if I go watch the game. PS I get it you think your team will be great I just don't think I am as optimistic as you are. Time will tell but no amount of you telling me how great your kid is or the offence is will change my mind till you put something on the field that shows that. That said we will know a lot more once we get some scrimmages in the books. Good luck to you.

Last season our receivers dropped more balls that hit them in the hands than I think I've ever witnessed in my life. That was a large reason that I believe we played the first half of the season with musical qb's. If that trend continues this year it's going to be a struggle. If Centerburg ends up being a better test than Madison then Madison may go 2-8. Sorry but that's just unlikely. How our varsity stacks up against Shelby is the only pre season test that interests me. That will tell us everything that we need to know.

Hearing some rumors of unrest among Pleasant fans in regards to what they deem "under-performance" from Coach Cook's teams. Anyone else hear anything about this? Jed You are going to have that when you replace a legend like Kubbs as head coach. The Pleasant faithful got really spoiled by having Kubbs for 20 years. However, the kids and parents of the players seem to really like Cook. He has done an excellent job of building team unity and getting the older players to really bond with and help teach the younger players the ropes. That said, it would be nice to see some deep playoff runs here in the next few years or the whispers may grow louder.

Haven't heard anything like that, but I do have a couple of complaints about the facility. Even though I can not prove it, I am certain that Pleasant has moved the parking area at least 100 feet further from the stadium each year for the past ten years and that they have also added at least 10 rows of steps each year up to where several of us sit together. I don't want any of you out there in MOAC land to even suggest that I am just getting older and tired.

Babymaker...I just believe in my team. I have to remain this way to give them this positive vibe off pre-season. If they under-preform, I'll be the first one to admit. I think I just said in a previous paragraph. My son did not do well in our first scrimmage. He's not finding the open receivers quick enough. Honestly when you have a quarterback that big with that strong arm, you "should" be able to score at anytime. I don't care who has that quarterback. We have receivers who can catch. We just have to have them step-up. I'll agree with the "Galion" guy up above. We dropped a lot of passes, but I feel they made up for it. I think the coach was switching quarterbacks early in the season to try and find what was going to work for him. It hurt him not having Chase being able to play in any scrimmages nor the first game of the season. I was pleading with him to let Chase throw down the field at the start of the season. I think he got ****** at me. Hahaha! Galion didn't have a good offense to fit Chase's style. He's a drop-back quarterback; he's always excelled at that. Drop back and fire the ball down field. Those type of quarterbacks just aren't in many coach's game plan nowadays. I get that. They like quick quarterbacks who can throw short and run. Now the head coach is making Chase be a roll-out quarterback this year..good luck with that. Chase has never tried that before. It ought to be interesting. I bet its because he knows how young our line is. We will see how it works out. All I want Chase to do is run more this year. I know he will get opportunity to showcase his 5.0 40 times. haha! But honestly our head coach, Matt Dick is trying to tweak our offense to see what is going to work. I'm impressed with him.
I do want to see how they play against Centerburg, because Centerburg is what? one division below them. A good similar test for them. Shelby is what a division 3 maybe? They got a great quarterback. We slid by them last year. My son didn't play in it. It should be an interesting game. Remember I said we need to be 3-0...before we hit the MOAC schedule. That means Bucyrus first, then Cardington and then Keystone. Doable? No clue! I'm going to remain positive though.

"Galion"....
I will say this adding on...
I have no clue why Chase didn't throw more Colton Moore last year...6'4" wide receiver. Chase and him killed Shelby and two other teams last year in a 7-on-7 in Ashland...almost every other throw with completions. Come the regular season...and we didn't throw to him much at all. I never understood that one. That kid could jump so high!! He had a great hands too. He was a GREAT basketball player too. I like that kid.

My mind may change after week 1 though.

No wonder Hawkins left. Do you know what Urban Meyer has to say about parents like that? Read his book. Shelby is DIV.

Maybe me using "pleaded" is a strong word. haha! Chris and I had a good relationship. I made my case early in the season and didn't say anything more to him. I don't feel like coaches should be "above the law" when a parent wants to text them. No different when you have a concern with a teacher, you have ask for a teacher's conference..or do you just let the situation get worse? I sure hope not. A football coach shouldn't let his ego get in the way of at least hearing what a parent has to say. I get tired of hearing these football coaches think they are God-like and all knowing. I respect the "totally".
Plus Chris left Galion (I think. haha), because Galion wouldn't give him a full-time teaching position. Plus he never liked how tight Galion was with their money toward the football program. It wasn't because of me. Good lord! haha! Chris totally believes in my son. He even "after" he left called a Division 3 college team letting them know he thought my son was a Division 1 football QB, but to keep a watch on him. I like that guy. We had a nice talk this summer at one of the graduation party. Laughed about everything. He's a stand-up guy. But I never agreed with a few of his coaching moves..my priority...one was always having your QB in the shotgun..never under center even at the goal line or on 4th and short. He and I will always agree to disagree on that one. haha!
no offense taken, I'm an honest guy on here. Some of you might not like it, but at least you can say he spoke his mind. I'm a pretty nice guy. I just love reading your guy's post.

I'm up at Wynford right now Each team got a series of 10 plays in before the storms started Looks like they are getting ready to start again Impressions? Wynford is down from last year. They will struggle in the N10 Pleasant is slightly improved from last year. Their run defense will be better than last year. But their major problems will be pass defense and depth. Number look to be down even from last year and there is not much size on either line. And as has been the issue for what seems like the last 20 years they still cannot defend the pass. Teams will be able to pick up on this and that will be their game plan. With that being said.....with what I've seen so far PHS faithful should be happy with 6-4 or 5-5

Hawkins could have had a full time teaching position in Galion. That was never an issue. The issue was how much experience credit he would get which is one major determining factor in a teacher's salary. Let's be honest nobody is going to take a pay cut to come here. Essentially, Ontario made him an offer in that area that is very very rare to see. That is also the reason that the Centerburg coach isn't here now rather than Coach Dick. Galion is not willing to budge in that area.

I was told Winford will compete for a league title in the N10 and that the majority of what they showed in the scrimmage is not actually what they will run (part of that is normal with all coaches). Pleasant is still a very young team. From what I have seen 6-4 would be about what I would predict. Size has always been a pleasant issue I looked at the state teams and they had small linemen seems like the big farm kids do not live in the district. Now if you look at the dad's in the stands you wonder how none of them are big... Thanks for the insight.

I do agree that I was not impressed with either team. Both teams could not sustain drives and was only a few explosive plays. Craycraft is going to be key to Pleasant. If they can protect him and give him holes to run they will be better than expected. If the line cannot hold up(like last year) 4-6 or 3-7 is very possible again
