I heard Galion's basketball coach step-down. As Trump would say..."Not good...not good." My son told me this afternoon he will not play basketball this year. He really like Coach Bright. His choice. He will go out for baseball this year though. I'm kind of excited about that. A wise decision regardless who the basketball coach is. The pounding on the hard court would slow down the healing of the knee. Rest and rehab should allow him to be pain free and enjoy the final sports season of his Senior year.

RV ran through BV. 3 ints in 1st half in own territory killed them. 1st and goal from 4 and pass it 4X and don't score when you have 1 of the best backs in conf.

For the second year in a row, this sets up Cardington-Lincoln/Highland as a huge game with playoff implications on the line.

An Harding will take care of them next week. This will not be difficult. As I said before the Pleasant game, I don't see another win on BV's schedule. I fully expect next week to be uglier than this week and tonight was REALLY ugly.

Should be an easier win for Harding. Seems bv has given up on season.

I was very surprised at that score at the halftime. I thought I was seeing it wrong, because I didn't have my glasses on..River Valley's score. Now I don't feel so bad about last week.
We were too much for Fairbanks, even though our defense is atrocious. I didn't think we could grind out the minutes that much in the 4th quarter...run..run..1st down...run..1st down..run..run..1st down. Man! Our line was eating theirs up. Their quarterback is as advertised. They got some good receivers, but man they dropped a lot to start the game, but then they came around. The only problem I have with their qb is he looks down the receivers too much. He needs to work on that. He looks relaxed in the pocket though when you don't get pressure on him; he will pick you apart.
It's been a disappointing season so far for me, but last night is the first time we seemed to play with "a little bit" of an emotion. We bent but didn't break just enough times to eek out a win. But we also showed the ability to make a big play when we had too. I hope this continues. We should have a decent chance against North Union. We are finally starting to put some points up. I don't feel like we won't against these next 2 final opponents. (North Union and Pleasant). That last game should be a good one at home.

I saw the funniest thing happen in our game last night. I've never seen happen in a game ever before. The Fairbanks kicker tried an onside kick. He tried to catch Galion off guard early in the game by doing the same thing. He just like pushes the ball along, while he runs besides it..Follows it for 10 yards and just falls on it. You get the picture. Well the first time he tried it in the game, it went like 3-4 yards and died. Our guy fell on it. At the end of the game, them down just 3 points after throwing a td bomb and with about a little over 3 minutes left in the game, the kicker tries it again. I don't know how he hit the ball, but the damn ball goes sideways like 10 yards, THEN goes about 10 yards BEHIND their whole team..like a big hook shot. Their whole team just stood there in shock, and one of their guys finally falls on it. LOL

Haha that's crazy. We use to do a lot of onsides last year and recovered them about once a game. Last night I seen 3 PATS hit the cross bar and fall in lol.

I Was wondering who is going wear to play college football or other sports, if anyone knows of the kids and commitments. I know of pugh to NW and there qb to Marshall for baseball. But anyone else? Harding has a handful that could play next level and I feel like pleasant and rv does too. Galion qb healthy looks like he can. Just wondering where the area kids are looking?

I have no clue if my son can get a scholarship. His GPA is rising...slowly. His ACT is very low. He retakes it for his 4th time this Saturday and will keep retaking it. He is TERRIBLE at taking tests. That's just the cold hard truth. He came over from Crestline with a damn 1.65 GPA starting his Junior year. It takes awhile to get that darn thing up. He should be a 2.1 now after this semester (that's Core classes - GPA). He's got a couple A's now, one or two B's and 3 C's. It's just going to come down to how bad does a team want him AND are they going to take a chance with his grades and ACT score. I don't have a clue. Schools that have shown real interest..just 2 so far: Ohio Dominican and Baldwin Wallace. (He got like 3 handwritten notes from 3 BW coaches today. One yesterday from the Head coach.) They have said they want him as QB, but they are probably telling 5 other kids the same thing. LOL There has been coaches contacting him in the past too: Ashland, Findlay, West Virginia State. So who knows, I'll guess he will just see how it plays out.

You know "I" want him to play Division 2 football..just because they can give more money (on the average) than a Division 3 school. But at this point, he might have to take what he can get. My son didn't like how small Baldwin Wallace players were. I loved the campus though. I honestly think it would be a good fit for him. So on a competition level I don't see much difference from Division 2 or Division 3, but then the two games I saw were of Mount Union. LOL Those boys are HUGE! I watched them play BW and Heidleburg. Both games were close at half time, but Mount Union wore them down in the 2nd half, and it was a blowout then in both games.
We checked out Mount Union too. The head coach spoke to us for like 10 minutes before the game day visit started. I think the other kids probably thought Chase was being highly recruited. Chase and I were the only people he talked to for that long. It wasn't because he was recruiting Chase; he had no clue who Chase was. We were just standing by his office. LOL I didn't even know it was his office until after like 10 minutes I saw him inside. I liked the guy.

I was told by a top QB in the blue division. He was looking at Heidleburg. I won't say his name. After this season he's probably going to get more offers though. I like his style.

GT, the main difference between D2 and D3 is $$$$ and the type of kid being recruited. D3 does not give out athletic scholarships so the out of pocket for parents is extremely high. Most D3 schools in Ohio are 50K plus, but they offer financial aid and grants that will reduce the amount out of pocket. Also based on academics/ACT scores they could receive some scholarship money. D2 is roughly 20K less to attend. They do give out Athletic scholarships but rarely a full ride (unless you’re a stud), they only have so much money to disperse to 70-80 kids. The others on the roster pay for it all. So best of luck with his decision on where to attend, MOAC followers will keep an eye on him. Just another suggestion to maybe look at the JUCO route also.

I'm guessing cardingtons haha, probably wrong. I'd like to see him against a good team and see what he does. Not saying he isn't good I'd just like to see if he's really what the stats show. If anything maybe your son could walk on. I played d3 baseball, but any scholarship he can get at this point he should take. I'm thinking there's atleast 5 players at Harding that can play next level. Im just wondering if they will or are. And yeah the moac site hasn't been updated probably cause not many have commited.

Yeah! I knew D3 can't give out athletic scholarships. I know 2 kids at Galion got D2 scholarships..one to Findlay and one to Charleston. One told me he got 80%, but his out-of-pocket was zero, because the rest was covered by grants and aid. I was also talking to a kid (who was playing on the JV team at Baldwin Wallace). He told me he did get an academic scholarship but with all the aid/grants and other scholarships he got he doesn't have to pay anything at all. He says they will find you the money. You are right about the JUCO, I talked to a kid from Hocking Hills football team. He did 2 years down there and was coming up to Baldwin Wallace to play with them. He said it helped him out tremendously. Thanks for the advice.

I also spoke to a lady on a dating site (LOL) who's son was a kicker down in Hocking Hills. He did his time down there and got offers from the University of Cincinnati and like two other schools too. He decided on some Div 2 school out of state. I was like, "Why not Cincinnati?" But she said he had done some ministry or religion summer camp down there and just loved the school. To each his own! Right?

Division 2/3 school recruiting usually doesn't heat up until after the season is over for 2017 grads. If you are in the 2017 class and you haven't gotten a D1 offer by now 1-2% chance of getting one by now. I only know of one from our team back in the late 90's (Donnie Nickey) who got one that late in the process.
As for Alder, outside of Pugh and Eisnaugle (Baseball) 3 additional players in the 2017 Senior class players that I know of have gotten D2 offers to play football.

I think you have to wait to after the season. Signing is usually in what Feb?

If he gets more than one, we will look at the offer. If they are the around the same offer, he gets to choose which ever one he likes the best Division 2 or Division 3. We aren't picky at this point with everything and now including this darn injury.

Just the joy of playing on Saturday afternoons would be a privilege to many. D3 or d2 would work out for him. I seen him play post injury, he can sling the ball. My only thing is step up in the pocket more and him running it will come with time as healing from that injury. I'm sure he'll play somewhere tho!

I'm not trying to down play this but many can get on a roster but few are selected to play. If you watch D2 & D3 football rosters you will see 4 to as many as 8 freshman QBs on a given year. You may see 2-4 Sophomore QBs and then maybe 1-2 juniors or senior QBs. I have 2 points with this. 1. many kids end up dropping off once they see how difficult it can be. 2. In many high schools the QB is a total athlete and after a season may change to another position to keep playing. In either case, it is always nice to have a plan B.
