That's where the grit comes in, whoever works the hardest and the best player will play.

I'm not too concerned if he plays or not. I'm just concerned that he gets some scholarship. If he doesn't play, that's not on me, it's because he isn't good enough. Football should be a privilege, obtaining a scholarship for little to no money should be the goal. That's my belief. So I definitely understand both of you and totally agree.

Big Win RV over JA. Puts RV in the Playoff hunt. And sets up a Big Game next week. Too early to tell if RV in Playoffs with a loss next Week. But RV - MH game next week should be packed as MH can now play for a share of the Conference title (and possible Playoffs). I don't think MH will make Playoffs. But it is making for an exciting week 10 any way, for many teams. Rv might have to win for a Playoff Appearrance. Pleasant, MH and NU picked up Computer Points with RV win.
Pleasant did play a weak non Conference with 0-9 Bucyrus, 2-7 Pandora Gilboa and 2-7 Cinc. Shroeder But D5 Cincinatti Shroeder (who Pleasant beat 41-0) won tonight against a D1 42-0......... LOL to go 2-7. Alot of Computer points for Pleasant from RV and Cin. Shroeder.

The RV win will likely eliminate any chance Highland had of making the playoffs. I guess as the consolation they whooped up on Cardington and in the process won the Blue division of the MOAC. I really expected the game to be much closer.

I realize they are the biggest school in the blue division, but I'm pretty impressed with what Highland has done in league play. They are finishing much stronger than they started once again. I was not going to be surprised if they won the blue this year, but I am surprised with how they seemed to have coasted right through league play. Even Centerburg which was an 8 point game was a fumble in Cenerburgs kickers field goal range and bad kickoff coverage away from being an 18 point game. Limings has been an absolute workhorse carrying multiple defenders into endzones with him and they have had about 4 other guys contribute nicely to the rushing attack as well. Passing game is a million times improved from last season. Defense seems to bend at times, but doesn't often break. They will give up yards, but not points. Defensively I can't really say one person has stood out, it seems like all 11 truly contribute. The playoffs don't look very promising, but 2015 was slightly better to the Scots then 2014 was, and 2016 continued that slight upward improvement, maybe 2017 they will get over that hump, have a stronger weeks 1-3 and get back into week 11. In the meantime congrats Scots on another at least share of the blue title.

After week 9 the MOAC has one play-off team, one probable and four possible. Not bad for a 16 team league.

We'll check back next week at this time to see how many get in and if that quantity makes the league pretty good.

When you look at a league of 8 and can consistently get 2 teams into the playoffs and on occasion get 3 and maybe 4, i'd say that is pretty good. But when you have the variance of sizes like the MOAC Red has and will have going into the future, it can make it tough for the larger schools to get in.

I agree ^^^^ Harding and BV would need a good nonconference win to get in, they both would need to be 7-3 or 8-2 to have a legit shot.

Don't kid yourself, 8-2 will be difficult without a couple of good non-league wins. Take it from someone who knows. Ontario being the largest school in the NCC failed to make the playoffs with an 8-2 record FOUR TIMES!

It very much depends on the teams you beat and their records as much as it does anything else. If you play a weak schedule and win but the teams you play are .500 and below it will hurt you playoff chance. As was the case in the NCC who had 1 consistently good football school.
Harding is sitting at 5-4 in the 13th spot and mathematically still in the hunt for the playoffs. My guess is if you would do the math, had Harding beat JA and get a win over RV, they are a playoff team at 7-3. Mainly because 4 of their 7 wins would be against schools that had winning records and gave them 2nd level points.

And Harding can only blame themselves this year for their record and "playoff" chances.... im still ****** about that Mt. Vernon game.... they fumble on the 7 yard line against Newark and lose the game if they pull that game out they are in a real playoff shot right now.... theyh had a chance to tie a good Lima Senior team and didnt gain a yard on the 25 yard line... its little things like that that will drive you crazy but it happens... heck if they dont fumble 3 straight times again Alder is the game way closer? they really need to pull out these non conference games to have a chance being in the MOAC

No run game first 3 games with RB missing. I think Harding would be 8-2. But still. It's a positive season from what it's been. With grant 7th grade and 8th grade winning the championships, I think they should be alright in the future

Its funny that we Defend Harding for location, location, location! Yet Highland is bashed for wanting the same thing? Harding applied for the MOAC and was accepted, just as the original ten schools did in 1990. I do not have first hand knowledge, but word of mouth, was that Highland was the driver for the MOAC Blue to leave the conference. So, it is not quite the same thing. When the MOAC reconfigured the Red and Blue divisions, it was Highland that didn't want anything to do with the Red. Now whether that was for travel or because it wanted to be the "big fish in the little pond" we may never know.

Potentially both, however, when their rivalries with the county and Fredericktown began its not like in the 60's and 70's back then that Highland was this gigantic school that was so much bigger than the rest of the county. Over time Highland has grown to be bigger and much like Harding nobody has an issue with it unless they are winning.
You can blame Highland for why the red/blue look the way they do today and you can blame them for why the Morrow/Knox schools are doing their own thing next season true.
However, it was NOT Highland that all of a sudden wanted an expansion to begin with. The expansion talks started and that is when Highland kind of became the bully. Highland pretty much decided if the league was to expand then they were going to do whatever they wanted. Not cool per say, but there were many other A.D.s that could have put their foot down.
As per the Knox/Morrow league.....nobody forced Cardington, Mount Gilead, Northmor, Fredericktown, Centerburg, East Knox, and Danville to go along with what Highland wanted.
It is fair to blame Highland for the league being ruined, but you also need to blame the other A.D.s of the league that pretty much allowed Highland to walk all over them. It's not like Highland had ultimate power that no other school had when it came to league decision making.

I played in the original 10 team league so I always was opposed to expansion....but when the red started going down that path, the writing was on the wall for us in the blue. I think the new league next year will be a more sustainable long term conference for us and we keep both of our rivals in Purple and Highland and have quickly gained another one in Centerburg.
