Any insight into what the bad blood between Shelby/Cardington was about?

Both teams were chirping during game...nothing bad, just normal yapping. Last play of game, Cardington kid cheap shot a Shelby kid running across middle. I mean lowered his shoulder and laid him out. Shelby had put in their JV kids by this time. Officials told Cardington to leave

Was able to watch MH a bit. Defense could be decent, they have some speed and fly around. Team doesn’t have a lot of experience outside of a couple bright spots. Probably win 3-4 games at most, still early to tell, future looks better though.

The Whippets participated in 7 on 7’s yesterday at Norwalk. The linemen finished second in their challenge while the skill players went 6-0-1.

don't sleep on the whippets in the MOAC. I see them right in the think of the title hunt in year one. They bring back some solid players.

I would almost certainly believe there is no rivalry. Sometimes this stuff can happen. I remember being at a basketball camp and we were all sorts of chippy with Botkins High School, of all places. Boxing out violently, shoving, stare downs, insults, it had it all. You know, the part that analytics can't cover.

I see Clear Fork is currently installing artificial turf for the upcoming season. I suppose back-to-back 10-0 regular seasons didn't hurt the cause.

The high school soccer field used to be in a separate location that has never had stadium seating or lighting and the space was affected by the construction of a new elementary building. This will now become the full time field for soccer and football.

The Richland Source article I read mentioned Clear Fork exploring potential for hosting playoff games with their turf field...dunno about you but I think that hill of theirs ain't going to cut it for OHSAA's seating capacity considerations.

They have plenty of space for that and can make it bigger.

The OHSAA would have to be desperate in my opinion to take a 2nd round playoff game to Clear Fork.

Shelby guy here...why the negativity towards CF improving their field with turf? Kudos for them for getting it done. I mean Shelby is playing in a deteriorating field with home stands that are nearly condemned, no hot water in restrooms (porta johns) and no locker rooms.

I have not seen negativity towards Clear Fork directly, it's toward the article writer who said the new field could bring in playoff games.

The field is fine. No issues with the field. The article mentioned a hope for hosting playoff games, which I and Dude view as a likely non-outcome.
But sure, let's drag Shelby into it. I personally think there is a degree of grit that Shelby fans have for putting themselves into danger during every home game. Flood plain? Catastrophic collapse of the stands? That puts hair on our chest. And our women's chests (who are all prettier than the women from all of your towns).
I heard this season that Shelby will release hungry lions onto the home stands during halftime. I don't know how it'll go, but I bet you Willard would never have the guts to do something like that.

I bet they'll have some killer pep rallies beneath that new 'amphitheater'. Or they can climb on top of it to wait for water-rescue the next time the Black Fork decides to spill.

Clear Fork field is close to competition. The field is almost done and they now are preparing to install the pellets.

CF has a nice new field but I would not say they have a nice stadium. Is the Shelby stadium owned by the schools or the city?

CF has a nice new field but I would not say they have a nice stadium. Is the Shelby stadium owned by the schools or the city? The school district owns W.W. Skiles field. Shelby voters have twice rejected building a brand-new athletic facility, proposed for the current High School campus. Although a new PreK-8 building will finally be built, the stadium will remain in its present downtown location. I know that the BoE had authorized the district to conduct a study to determine not only the immediate concerns, but long-term needs as well. Back in 2017, an independent agency gave the physical stadium a life expectancy of four to eight years. I might recommend just standing along the fence-line if attending - unless it's underwater.

Now, that’s funny stuff right there. I’ve always loved the location. It’s pretty cool to drive toward downtown on a Friday night and see the lights on. The problem is NOTHING can be done in that location since it’s in the flood zone. Ultimately putting it on the campus that will now hold K-12 is the logical next step.
