I have boys playing and I don’t sit in the stands. Walk up those steps one time and you’ll see why, or better yet, go look from underneath...scary stuff.

The school district owns W.W. Skiles field. Shelby voters have twice rejected building a brand-new athletic facility, proposed for the current High School campus. Although a new PreK-8 building will finally be built, the stadium will remain in its present downtown location. I know that the BoE had authorized the district to conduct a study to determine not only the immediate concerns, but long-term needs as well. Back in 2017, an independent agency gave the physical stadium a life expectancy of four to eight years. I might recommend just standing along the fence-line if attending - unless it's underwater. Now, that’s funny stuff right there. I’ve always loved the location. It’s pretty cool to drive toward downtown on a Friday night and see the lights on. The problem is NOTHING can be done in that location since it’s in the flood zone. Ultimately putting it on the campus that will now hold K-12 is the logical next step. I totally agree with your sentiment here. With the revitalization effort underway downtown along the Black Fork, if not for the constant flood risk & current condition of the stadium, it would have the potential to build on the old-school traditions. To your point, and having looked at the concept design for the new stadium proposal, it is the most logical next step. But getting current residents in opposition to wave the white flag... good luck!

Normally, I think of the defenses being ahead of the offenses at this time of year but that was not the case last night in the Pleasant/Wynford scrimmage. Some of that was probably because they were running 10 plays to score from 60 yards out and there would have been some stops as the offenses did not always get 10 yards in 4 plays but you could still see some defensive confusion on both teams. That said, Pleasant looked pretty good on offense. Line has good size and it looks like they may throw the ball a little this year.

I didn’t know we were discussing Perkins’ expectations. I was merely commenting on how the scrimmage went

I didn’t know we were discussing Perkins’ expectations. I was merely commenting on how the scrimmage went well, you claimed Shelby dominated, but against a club that's been down a few years, and looks to be down again in 19.

Because Perkins is down, Shelby didn’t dominate on defense?

I saw most of it (missed the first 10 play series). If it had been a real game it would have been lop sided. Whether that’s a good sign for Shelby or a bad sign for Perkins only time will tell. Shelby v Norwalk this Friday will probably clear that up.

Just got word it was 20-20 when starters came out. A lot of inexperience but there was some bright spots.

Just reading Marion Star and read Trae Davis is at Harding now after being with RV last year. Should be a weapon for the Presidents Jakhi Henderson open-enrolled to RV, big kid from Harding. I don't know what he did last year as a sophomore.

I don’t think he played last year, if he did it was JV. Not starting at RV either I was told. Not really a football kid, but has size so he’s a DL
