I cannot remember having a 4 guard rotation that played this well at OSU. I know we're ranked 6th, but honestly it still seems like a secret how good we've played. Looking forward to some of the matchups in the next 3 weeks or so.

According to the KenPom ratings, Ohio State is now the #1 ranked team in the country with Louisville at 2. Obviously so early but interesting to see. We have the #1 ranked football team and according to at least one ranking system the #1 ranked basketball team too.

Two weeks from today we play Kentucky, who is currently ranked 8th.

With Louisville losing tonight there’s a good chance Ohio State is ranked #1 when the next rankings come out.

The Big Ten is tough to play on the road. Home teams in conference play were 12-0 going into Ohio State’s game.
That being said, Ohio State’s offense hasn’t looked good. Lots of wild shots and guards just driving to the hoop with no where to go. Washington would’ve definitely helped with the outside shooting.
The worst part was the defense though. Their guards killed us, we couldn’t guard them on the perimeter or on the drive. And minny’s big man was a beast, Wesson couldn’t handle him inside.

The story of the night for the Buckeyes is......lazy basketball. Lazy basketball was predominant on the offensive side of the court. Flat footed, spectators most of the night, very poor movement, away from the ball. This is not the team I've been watching the first 9 games. Holtman will get them back.
You want to see how the game's supposed to be played, watch the Ohio State women playing #1 Stanford right now. Stanford is very well coached, but the Buckeyes are gamers.

Good thing they were playing SE Missouri. Although they pulled away and won convincingly, there were far, far too many turnovers and general sloppiness. no doubt, Holtman will be working on getting this fixed.

Duane Washington is sorely missed. Ohio State's #2 option. With him in the line up defenses must find him outside the 3-point line, which spreads defense and allows more room to drive the lane. He won't play against Kentucky, which does not bode well for the Buckeyes.
I REALLY get tired of Walker's forced plays of offense.

As talented as they are, the freshmen have looked like.....well, freshmen the past couple games. Making mindless, unforced turnovers, bumping into one another and playing out of control at times. That's to be expected in the learning process. Against Kentucky, they need to get focus and discipline, back in their game, for us to have a chance.

#18 Villanova deafeats #1 Kansas 56-55 today. That blowout win over Nova is looking better and better. A big win vs. Kentucky would be huge.

Solid win by the Buckeyes. They’ve now beaten Cincinnati, Villanova, UNC, and Kentucky.

Heck of a start to the season. And Minnesota is clobbering Oklahoma State so that doesn’t seem like such a bad loss. It was nice to have Washington’s outside shooting back but he still gets a little out of control at times and forces things. I don’t think Kyle Young gets enough credit for what he does, he’s the guy that does little things that won’t show up in the box score but leads to team wins. So glad he decided to come here and not Butler.

I'm rather curious and anxious how this weeks rankings will be coming out. AP releases their weekly poll at 2 pm on Sunday, but it is 6:15 am Monday and nothing yet. Think Gonzaga will be #1 and Buckeyes jump to #2 or #3.
The Buckeyes jumped 3 spots to #2! I certainly, didn't see this coming, this preseason.

Brutally ugly game against WVU yesterday. Had been worried about that one ever since I saw the FB was going to be the night before. Wasn't the best setup for this team.
WVU is insanely underrated, too.

One thing about this season is there’s definitely no clear cut favorites. Currently I’d guess there’s about 10-15 teams who could legitimately win it all. Obviously still early in the season though and as teams get into conference play it will become more clear who some of the true top teams are.

Which makes it more likely for a 1 vs 16 and other first round upsets. Many teams like Ohio State could be #2 seeds feeling good about their chances and lose in the first round.

Kyle Young out tomorrow after getting his appendix removed. Big loss as he is such a big piece to this team. This is the same time last year that he missed several weeks with the stress fracture. Next man up, hopefully Liddell can play well and maybe even Gaffney get some more minutes.

Only supposed to be out one game. Appendix surgery used to keep an athlete out much longer.

Doesn’t matter if Young is out, that’s a bad loss.
We don’t have anyone that can score consistently outside of Wesson. No outside shooting. Very inconsistent.

Holtmann is not building teams to handle big physical teams like WV and Big Ten teams.

Not sure I quite agree with that. We just don’t have anyone that can consistently score right now outside of Kaleb. I love how hard Muhammad plays and his defense but he isn’t an offensive threat at all. His shot might be worse than Craft’s right now. And Washington hasn’t been the same since his injury. He was shooting very well before that.

If anything it shows how important Kyle Young is to this team. But you're right, seems like a team regressing at present. Carton next to nothing Liddell next to nothing

So far this season is playing out almost identical to last season. Both years started out hot, got ranked high, then at the beginning of January hit a big wall, Young goes out(last year stress fracture, this year appendix), and lose several games in a row(last year I believe it was 7 in a row, this year it’s at 2 right now and could be 4 with Maryland and Indiana coming up).

He was shooting very well before that. Ohio State only has TWO players over 6-6 on their roster than can match the physical play of WV and Big Ten teams. Ohio State guards not only couldn't score against Wisconsin, they couldn't get the ball to Wesson. He only took NINE shots in the game.
