2020 Dynasty Thread

Welcome to 7th year of the NCOAST Dynasty League.

Sorry for the delay, as many of you know, I have been traveling a lot for my job so many thanks for SITH in helping to decipher some things this offseason. 



Those of you who have spent the offseason crying yourselves to sleep may not need the reminder, but for the playoff teams who have spent the offseason on a Chris Farley binge, here is a list of previous champions:

Change of Platforms from ESPN to FANTRAX
The change between our 2019 and 2020 seasons will be one of the larger changes we have done in the league, but hopefully it will not deviate too far from what we have established as a group over 6 years. With that being said, I would anticipate some bumps during this season and when they occur, we will use the same formula we have used in years part(league vote).Familiarize yourself with the site and please look for any potential issues we may run into during the season.
 
Division Realignment
In an effort to make our Divisions more geographically appropriate and meaningful I have decided to rename and realign the divisions. I did not take this decision lightly as I appreciate the in-division rivalries that we had established so far, however with the change of formats, if we were ever going to do it, this is the best time to do it.

SITH gets bumped to the World division as the geographical dynamic is just off and he travels enough that you could probably consider him not an Ohio resident. If you disagree with this change, as always, please let it be known on NCOAST and we can discuss, although SITH may strangle you if he has to sort the scheduling out again. 

Minors
One of the advantages of Fantrax is that we do not have to keep a separate minors list(or make an Organizational Depth Chart). With that can come some disadvantages though....and some unknowns. It is currently unknown on how we will monitor Minors Promotions/Demotions or how the whole minors system will work. Please look around and express your thoughts on NCOAST, the sooner the better.  What I can tell you about the Minors right now is:
1. Minors are kept on Fantrax
2. Minors eligibility is determined now by AB/IP. A player is Minos eligible if he has: under 850ABs or under 225IP. In Years Past, it has been "2 years MLB service". This should put it at about the same time frame in a players career, however we may need to grandfather a player or two in so please check your roster to see if you have a player that should be Minors Eligible(per last years rules) and is not (per this years rules). 
3. Minors draft will still be held in the summer. 

Keepers
Same keeper rules still apply. 15 required Active and up to 15 Minors.
Keeper Date: next Sunday, March 15

Active Draft
We should be able to do our draft online and quickly now that we use Fantrax. 
The Active Draft date is currently set for two Sundays from now, March 22 at 8:30pmET


League Dues
Dues are still $50, however you will be asked to pay them directly to fantrax when you sign up. Please don't send me your money. I have already paid the dues for BELL, TIG and REDS, so none of your teams should ask you for money when signing up. I believe that was everyone I had to account for...if you have already paid this year, let me know and Ill look into it.

Just want to be clear in regards to the minor roster. If we have someone who has eligibility under the old rules like Torres does for me but has hit the marks set by Fantrax what are we planning to do?

Fantrax has the ability to do our typical "slow" draft right through the site.  I have been operating under the impression we could still do that considering the wide variety of time zones we occupy.

Any other thoughts?

Most likely you could grandfather him in, if you desire.

If anyone wants to see the data, I can certainly make it available.

About this, I know they are working on developing it, but the mobile web page on the phone works pretty well.  They have what is almost like an applet running that make navigation pretty easy imho.

I'm sure I will run into something once I work with it more.

Thanks, guys like Alex Reyes who are by baseball reference 2.0+ service time but prob haven’t hit the inning pitched could benefit from that change.

I went to select my keepers and there are also check boxes next to people on my minors roster. Just making sure it's not going to drop everyone on my minors when I don't select any of them for active keepers?

You need to check the boxes next to everyone you intend to keep. So for sure 15 active players then any of the minors you want to keep. So the max total check marks would be 30.

From the main banner select Keeper Admin.  That brings up the screen for selections.  

I would insert some screen shots but I don't know how to just add plain pics to the thread.  If someone knows how, let me know and I will post them.

Scratch that... I just found that we can upload pics to the message board on Fantrax.  I started a thread with the above mentioned screenshots.  Let know if you still have any issues.

Do we know what will happen to the non-minors eligible guys on minors rosters when the keeper due date arrives?

In the past we've been able to hold on to our mandatory promotion guys until after the draft, as long as they are either promoted or cut by opening day.....are we still going to be able to do it that way?

We don’t know....we’ll iIll assume they’ll probably be cut. For example, I have Moncada, which is mandatory promotion which means in years past he would be a Minors Keeper and then promoted before Opening Day. However, this year I cannot keep him as a Minors keeper.

We’ll probably have to manually designate these players and then add them back to your teams post Keeper date/ pre draft day
