From the look of it Lexington and Madison would be the two schools needing a game if they don’t start till October. I see it two ways..either no one is playing and you don’t have to worry about it, or Wooster won’t play at all. If everyone else is playing week 1 and Wooster is not, they won’t be playing at all.

Does it send a bad message to the sports that have been cleared to play when they cancel them just because football and soccer have heavy requirements to play?

I don't think all sports will be cancelled. Even Wooster said golf and Tennis can play as scheduled and I expect both of those sports to complete the season. Volleyball seems to have been given the green light as well and I could see Cross Country getting the go ahead. It really comes down to soccer and football, and I think the decision needs to be made that its either good to play or not.

According to the Wooster paper only Golf and tennis will be played before Oct 1. But you may be correct, it can change. Imagine if other schools play week 1 and Wooster waits until Oct 1. They would not play for a league title in football and soccer or a playoff spot in football.

Just looking at some other games that might need to be replaced in the OCC. Mansfield vs Trotwood-Madison Mansfield vs Lima Sr.
Most of the rest of the OCC has local teams that they play in the non conference. Ashland plays Tri-Valley week one which might be too much travel.
I also have heard nothing about Mount Vernon. I have no idea where they stand.

It looks like Wooster will let sports play that are given the Ok from the state. They are now allowing Volleyball and CC to proceed with contests.

That is good news for volleyball, most of their season is over by Oct 1. After seeing all the news in college football today alone... I doubt the OCC FB teams will have to worry about finding replacements. They will be able to play in the spring at best... most likely not til fall 2021 though

OCC AD’s better get on the phone tonight and ask Wooster if they are in or out. Can’t wait till October if your only playing 6 games.

Since the points don’t matter and someone will be out each week, who do schools try to get?

Good news. If Governor gives ok for football and soccer, Wooster has given the ok to move forward. So now we probably will have it be cancel.

From the Mansfield News Journal. The OCC regular season football.
Week 1 begins on Aug. 28 with Lexington hosting Mount Vernon, Madison hosting Wooster and West Holmes hosting Mansfield Senior. Ashland will have an open date to fill with a non-conference opponent.
Week 2 sees Ashland hosting Mount Vernon, Lexington hosting Wooster and West Holmes hosting Madison with Mansfield Senior left open to find a non-conference opponent.
Week 3 has Madison hosting Ashland, Mansfield Senior hosting Lexington and Wooster hosting West Holmes. Mount Vernon will be open that week for a non-conference contest.
In Week 4, Ashland hosts Mansfield Senior, Lexington hosts West Holmes and Mount Vernon hosts Wooster with Madison receiving the open date for a non-conference foe.
Week 5 has Ashland hosting Lexington, Madison hosting Mount Vernon and Mansfield Senior hosting Wooster with West Holmes open for an out-of-conference game.
Week 6 has Lexington hosting Madison, Mansfield Senior hosting Mount Vernon and West Holmes hosting Ashland with Wooster left open.

Sounds like Ashland is having a hard time finding someone for week 1. I think they are willing to play anyone at this point. Hope something works out.

Hearing that Ashland may play Mogadore I hope that turns out to be correct. I know Ashland reached out, but nothing was agreed to yet.

Ontario's TV and radio stations will significantly increase the number of games they cover this fall. Not only football and soccer, but also volleyball for the first time.
They're looking for more people to broadcast the games. Let me know if interested, I have a contact.

I would even pay to watch some live streamed football games this fall, and im sure others would too.

IMO the broadcasts from the Ontario station has been very poor or at least very inconsistent over the last 5 years, give or take. I used to enjoy Jeff and Bob calling a game but today the yahoos they have hardly understand the coin toss.

Right. The OH Report is much better. Brian is doing a great job with it. I think you are right and now the OH Report has hired a few of the sports people away from the Ontario station. I also saw a long time Ontario station sportscaster is now working with VSBN radio doing football games. I think OH Report is gaining sponsorship and will now be offering live game broadcasts for multiple teams in the area. I know they are doing football, soccer and even volleyball games if they get the requests. When the Ontario station let the founder of the OH Report go a couple years ago it was a big drop. Jeff Allen is doing a tremendous job trying to keep the Ontario stations's sports program alive. in my opinion.

Right on. I read the interview with OH Report founder. He worked for WMFD and he wanted to dabble in video on the side and they fired him for it. OH Report is going to get bigger and bigger. Jeff Alan is about all WMF d has left imo.

I don't know what my opinion's worth, but Brian Skowronski is too cool for school.
