Looking at the enrollment of the schools, it was the right move. Yeah we kinda went over that already but the example being Willard, therefore if Oak Harbor goes then the right move would be Lakota to the Bay. So we shall see how consistent things are if this scenario happens. 👀 Yes we kinda did. I still have hope for schools to accept the challenge of playing schools their size or bigger and being proud of it. Instead we have a seen a trend for schools wanting to search out schools with weaker teams then their own. We all know that most schools have changing enrollments.

Lakota certainly isn't going to want to move up - they can't hardly handle what they are in right now. I could def see there being some issues quickly. If I am the SBC I go on the offensive (and maybe they should have well before this). I'm not sure what it might get them, but I'd try to be aggressive.

Any news on the OH board meeting that would have been tonight? It's a secret. From what I've seen, I don't think anyone on this board has any real knowledge of what Oak Harbor is planning.

If Oak Harbor and Willard left the SBC the most logical thing to me to do would be combine the Lake and Bay for a ten team league even though I’m sure Huron, Edison and PC would not be happy about that. When you have nowhere else to go you really have no choice though.

Someone on Yappi is claiming that OH is out of the SBC, but I didn't see anything concerning conference affiliation on the BCS Board's agenda for last night. Something could have been discussed during committee reports, but I wouldn't expect anything actionable. We won't know for sure until the meeting minutes are available.

Jordan Strack just tweeted it's a done deal. He also made sure to mention "it was a move he mentioned last week" as if we haven't been talking about literally for months.
Guess third time's the charm. And, I gave OH way too much credit. I really didn't think they'd flush 35 years of tradition and relationships to save a few miles and for the opportunity to play big schools again. But... priorities shift.
I would expect membership in an athletic conference to require them to approve some sort of an intergovernmental agreement or contract. So, it feels kinda greasy that this wasn't on the BOE agenda. But... I ain't no legal scholar or lawyer.
Assuming SBC doesn't have another school on-deck, I agree that we'll see Lakota move up into the Bay. SMCC will help backfill the River if they actually play 11-man ball. In the meantime, if I was the SBC, I'd be reaching out to Seneca East and Firelands (not likely).

The BCS superintendent tweeted it out a little over an hour ago. They'll officially notify the SBC once the NBC votes to accept them.

If Willard doesn’t get into the N-10 then you could have them go to the River and then combine the Lake and Bay for a ten member league.

Old Playoff format(pre-1985) forced their hand to SBC. Now, with playoff format totally different, as is today's SBC, I think it makes sense for them.

Play bigger schools? I seriously doubt that. PC and two city schools for weeks 1-3.

Fremont Ross will not be joining the Lake. Most of the larger schools in the immediate area are already in. might have to go a little outside the "area" or comfort zone

I would wager large sums of Jake’s money that Lakota never play’s a single game in the bay division. In fact if you’re the river schools do you even have a need for the SBC?

Been saying that for some time. AND League Championship sounds a lot better better than division title.

The Sandusky Register is confirming the move. I was surprised to learn that Findlay, Ross, Clay and Whitmer were leaving the TRAC. It happened in April so I was asleep at the wheel.
IIRC Oak Harbor was a charter member of the SBC with their first stint going from 1948-72. I wish them luck, but in the present climate things can again change quickly. It stands to reason that the community backs the move or the administration better hope it works out. The superintendent decided to stay after being offered a college position so it appears that everyone is on board.
