Welcome to the 7th Season in the 8th year of the NCOAST Dynasty League. 
With the 2020 season cancelled due to COVID, a lot of us may need a refresher on league history.

Change of Platforms from ESPN to FANTRAXThe change between our 2019 and 2021 seasons will be one of the larger changes we have done in the league, but hopefully it will not deviate too far from what we have established as a group over 7 years. With that being said, I would anticipate some bumps during this season and when they occur, we will use the same formula we have used in years part(league vote).Familiarize yourself with the site and please look for any potential issues we may run into during the season. 

Division Realignment
In an effort to make our Divisions more geographically appropriate and meaningful I have decided to rename and realign the divisions. I did not take this decision lightly as I appreciate the in-division rivalries that we had established so far, however with the change of formats, if we were ever going to do it, this is the best time to do it.

SITH gets bumped to the World division as the geographical dynamic is just off and he travels enough that you could probably consider him not an Ohio resident. If you disagree with this change, as always, please let it be known on NCOAST and we can discuss, although SITH may strangle you if he has to sort the scheduling out again. 

Minors
One of the advantages of Fantrax is that we do not have to keep a separate minors list(or make an Organizational Depth Chart). With that can come some disadvantages though....and some unknowns. It is currently unknown on how we will monitor Minors Promotions/Demotions or how the whole minors system will work. Please look around and express your thoughts on NCOAST, the sooner the better.  What I can tell you about the Minors right now is:1. Minors are kept on Fantrax2. Minors eligibility is determined now by AB/IP. A player is Minos eligible if he has: under 850ABs or under 225IP. In Years Past, it has been "2 years MLB service". This should put it at about the same time frame in a players career, however we may need to grandfather a player or two in so please check your roster to see if you have a player that should be Minors Eligible(per last years rules) and is not (per this years rules). 3. Minors draft will still be held in the summer and will combine both last years and this years MLB 1st years player drafts.

Keepers
No Keepers need to be selected this year. Keepers were selected for 2020 season. 

Active Draft
We should be able to do our draft online and quickly now that we use Fantrax. The Active Draft date is currently set Sunday March 21 at 9pmET

Draft Lottery
: Apparently ESPN has deleted our old league completely, so I am unable to track the proper Lottery Odds. In lieu, we will dictate it by career W/L record. The Lottery will continue to be two lotteries, 1-6 and 7-10. Draft

luckily i grew up in Willard so i already had a southern accent woot

Looking at my roster do I add Bellinger, Urias Weaver and Fried after the draft? Also for some reason Brantley does not have OF eligibility.

That's a good question for CEO.  I'm guessing they were listed as minor eligible last year and graduated off due to playing time.

i would suggest a move to accept the FanTrax criteria for a player losing minors eligibility immediately, just bite the bullet now and let the site do the work on that end for us

When setting up the now defunct 2019 league we learned that Fantrax had a few options on how to qualify a player as minor eligible.  
They include:
Real Life Status
Age
GP(Games Played) Hitting/Pitching
AB(at bats)
IP(innings pitched)

The idea was to mimic what we currently did with service time to minimize the change to the whole league.  We knew nothing was going to be perfect but we could make it really close.

With that, Real Life Status and Age were out the window immediately.  That left GP, AB or IP as options.  From there I went back, If I remember correctly 4 years, and looked at every player on the minors roster.  I pulled service time GP, AB or IP to make comparisons to the mandatory callups we did have under the previous system then worked on what those mandatory call ups would have looked like under the new options. 

The closest set up to mimicking our previous system was to use AB for hitters and IP for pitchers.  To be minor eligible, hitters career regular season AB <= 850;  pitchers career regular season IP <= 225.

When those values were applied over the previous 4 seasons, 2 of those years, no changes in the mandatory call ups would have happened.  In the other 2 seasons there would have been a swap of 3 total players whose eligibility would have changed.  

TORCH put it well Fantrax automatically codes each player according to the limits set.  If he has a green M he is eligible to be on the minors roster. 

To summarize:
Hitters minor eligibility is career regular season AB <= 850

Pitchers minor eligibility is career regular season IP <=225


This does not cover our league rule of 1 demotion per season.
