Size matters for first level points. You need your opponent to get wins to get second level points and that means a lot. Size doesn't matter, as you've said many times, gotta win first to garner any Harbin Points regardless of size. I just said it again, size matters for 1st level points, but 2nd level is a big factor in seeding.

Good example. Highland missed the playoffs by .31 points sitting is at 7-3 but looking at the teams they beat, they have a combined record of 30-40. Cardington, who also finished seeded 9th in their region, had opponent they beat with a combined record of 23-47. While River Valley who is also 7-3 but in the 6th seed, their opponents combined record is 33-37. Not a big difference but when the 1st level points are added...

Still cant believe Madison didn't win a game in the OCC this year. It is incredible that they have a kid going to the SEC next year and I didn't hear a single thing about him all year. Does anyone know what his stats finished up looking like?

According to MNJ he did not lead his team in rushing, receiving or tackles. He did have 12 TDs (5 rushing and 7 receiving).

Then that example would be Van Wert.

And in that example size DOES NOT matter.

The teams Highland beat are all in their League/Division. Highland is D4, the other league schools are (1) D5, the rest D6. Their 3 non-league games are all D4 teams with a combined record of 24-6. They choose to play those itsy bitsy schools(per Vogel) every year. Win a non-league game against a school in their Division and make the playoffs. River Valley made the playoffs because they beat Highland. Highland failed to make the playoffs because they lost to River Valley. It doesn't get anymore simple than that.

River Valley made the playoffs because they beat Harding and Alder.

River Valley made the playoffs because they beat Harding and Alder. Truth.

Even with wins over Harding and Alder, if Highland beats River Valley that makes them 6-4 and they lose enough Harbin Points to fall out of the top 8. Highland goes to 8-2 and moves from 9th into the top 8. Whoever wins the RV/Highland game makes the playoffs and the loser is out of the playoffs.
Fact.

You are correct galion.
After week 4 RV was not in the playoffs they were tied for 9th. Week 5 = 10th Week 6 = 10 Week 7 = 8 Week 8 = 10 Week 9 = 6 (after beating JA) Week 10 = 6 (after beating Hardig)

If RV lost to Highland it would not matter what happens in weeks 9 and 10, RV doesn't make the playoffs. All other results remaining the same, the winner of the RV/Highland game makes the playoffs, as we see the loser doesn't make the playoffs.
This should be of interest to OCCers. In week 2 Madison beat RV 49-21. Proof of how much Madison has regressed through out the season, even with an SEC caliber player. As some like to point out.

Are you suggesting it was Masi's coaching that turned an SEC recruit into an average player on a bad team?

Northwest District Honors have been posted. Any surprises in the OCC?

Interesting to see how the voters up top were off.

That's why they say hindsight is always 20/20. Personally I went with Ashland like I always do.

Hindsight is 20/20 but you would have thought of the 25 voters a few more would have been closer. I guess it's the difference between voting with your heart and your head.
I agree on Ashland.

Hope he stays in the state and plays for the Buckeyes. His comments in the article seem to lean that way.

Did Wooster's QB Benington get any football offers? I'm told he will be going to Ashland for basketball.
