The more that I hear about Wooster the more I think they win the league this year. I like what Ashland has back, but I think Wooster has more balance on both sides of the ball, and maybe the best player that no one is talking about in Trey Mathis. I'm worried that Ashland's defense is not going to be close to what it was last year.

I could see some very good games in the OCC this year but when the dust clears I also think Wooster is the favorite. Ashland could make a run and Madison and Lexington could do a respectable job in their games.

Lexington's problem this year is going to be figuring out what they want to do at qb. They graduated Joey Vore last year and the next guy in line is supposed to be Sr Logan Pfizenmeyer. He would then be unlikely to he able to go every play on defense. The likely next option would be sophomore Ben Vore, who I believe was the jv qb last year. The defense does return all the starters from last year including Tony Gerrell who lead the area in interceptions with 9 last year and Cade Stover, who single handedly shut down Shelby's Armstrong last year. "Lexington's problem" is figuring out their QB? Better get that figured out quick. There defense gave up 241 points last year and they had two shutouts against 2-8 Norwalk and 1-9 West Holmes. Sounds like they may have more problems then just QB to figure out.

After the summer I think the league goes like this . 1. Ashland- always a good team and won't change this year 2. Wooster- returns a lot of talent and might even finish first 3. Lexington- returns like the whole team from last year. Time to see if the got what it takes 4. Madison- returns a lot of talent. Line play might just be to weak. But can beat anyone 5. Clearfork- returns most of there team. Might just surprise a few teams this year. 6. Mansfield - just looks very weak this year other then two to three good players 7. West Holmes - lost there coach late and probably won't win much Good points and safe picks.

Wooster just seems to never live up to what they are supposed to be. I mean look at there lose to Mansfield last year. Mansfield really wasn't even that great of a team . I just can't see Wooster going undefeated in the league . I see them getting one lose somewhere probably against one of the top 3 other teams.

I think we need to get over the Wooster never lives up to the hype. They have won a share of the last two OCC championships and last year they had to replace a few of the better athletes to come through Wooster in a long time. Wooster has always had the athletes but no one to guide them, they have that now.

Agree that Wooster has a good shot at the title this year but I never count Ashland out. They are well coached and always competitive. Both Mansfield teams will also be in the running. Should be a fun season to watch.

I see Wooster and Ashland being a level above the other top OCC teams.

Well I know it was just a scrimmage but Madison lost 20-19 in 3q to mount Vernon . Player told me that Madison's receiver dropped a wide open td pass

Unless the defense can step up, I don't see Ashland winning the league this year. Defense was my biggest concern coming into the year and if the preseason was any indication its going to be a long year for this unit. Ashland will have to outscore its opponents this year, and thats not a sustainable way to win.

Wooster had a nice win last night. Hard to tell how real they are against Orrville. Better test will be next week against Wadsworth

Oh my God I just watched the Ashland game. Credit Valentine with the loss in that one with one of the top ten boneheaded coaching decisions of all time. All he had to do is take a knee on the 6, call timeout with 3 seconds left kick the field goal, and go home. Instead he tries one more shot into the endzone. Wadsworth consequently ends up getting the ball back and completes a hail mary with no tome left to win the game. Unbelievable.

Not many times have I heard a loss be blamed on Valentine.

Not many times have I heard a loss be blamed on Valentine. No not often, but if you watch the final 2 minutes of this game you will see that this is definitely one of those times.

I do not doubt you are correct, I was simply stating what maybe some did not know. I guess even the best of us can still be taught a few things.

Was at the Lexington Shelby game. Lexington could have won if they had someone that could kick. Drove inside 10 yard line twice in the 4th quarter but couldn't kick a field goal. Shelby stopped them twice. Lex defense pretty good. Offense needs to improve.

This was obvious from the Ontario game they missed every extra point, went for it multiple times on 4th down inside the 20 yd line and switched the punters during the game.
But the kicker is not responsible for the turnovers they had. Those contributed to the final score as well.

It would be pretty surprising to me that Lexington that probably has 50 kids in their soccer program cant find one kid to kick field goals on Friday night. Might need to go recruit someone.

My opinion is this is a direct result of not developing this at the younger levels. Many junior high and freshman teams always go for 2 after a TD. And almost never attempt a FG.

As much as I hate to say it. I may be a long year for Lex.Maybe they can right the ship a ittle next week in the valley. I will say this I know the quaterback for Lex has had some more important things to deal with this week.
Looks Like Woostar is th team to beat. In the OCC, 44-8 over Mt Vernon tonight.

Yes Madison was up 40-21 at half and then st Francis came all way back and took the lead 41-40 and then Tyrell had the game winning td

I sounded like Madison threw a couple pick six and also I seen a highlight where Madison punted and at the last second st Francis picked it up and scored

I will actually be a little surprised if anyone comes within 2 scores of Wooster in the OCC. Right now its Wooster...and everyone one else and its not close.
