100
Only the 3rd time the Indians have reached the century mark...and interestingly enough, it's the first time they've done it in a 162 game season. The 1995 team was 100-44 in a strike shortened year, and the 1954 team was 111-43 in the old 154 game format.

I'd have no issue having him start the first one on the road. Though it all depends on who you want pitching on normal rest, etc. I know one thing for sure - I'm good with whatever Tito decides. He will talk to his players and coaches and make the right decision. If Manning and Underwood are correct Carrasco will start the 2nd game. Which gives him 7 days of rest instead of the normal 4 days. With that he could be a little rusty. Since Kluber is such a freak about his exact routine between starts he will only get his normal 4 days, before his first start in the play offs.

One more win will give this team the 2nd most wins in Cleveland history.

My Thoughts for round 1: 2 - Catchers - Gomes and Perez 4 - Starters - Kluber, Carrasco, Bauer, Tomlin 5 - Infielders - Lindor, Ramirez, Santana, Urshela, Encarnacion 5 - Outfielders - Almonte(S), Bruce(L), Chisenhall(L), Kipnis, Jackson(R) 9 - Relievers - Allen(R), Clevenger(R), Goody(R), McCallister(R), Miller(L), Olson(L), Salazar(R), Shaw(R), Smith(R) Hard ones to get rid of for me: Gonzalez - young guy who can play multi infield spots and has speed. Tito normally likes having a guy like that on his postseason bench. Allen - again young and with speed. Only reason I put Almonte in there is because he is a switch hitter, and he could play any of the OF spots. If Chis can hit he'll make the roster just from what he did early in the season. Guyer just hasn't been right all year. Allen is really hard to keep off the roster. As we saw in this game, he's the best bunter on the team, the fastest player on the team. When he was on 1st base with Perez at the plate, just the threat of him stealing a base caused the pitcher to throw nothing but fastballs to Perez. If a Major league player knows he's getting nothing but fastballs and gets to look at 4 of them, it makes it really easy to hit the fifth one hard. He's also the best center fielder on the team.

If the Astros win 2 more games, this will be only the 6th time that 3 different MLB teams have won 100 games in the same sason
Here are the 5 times it has happened:
1942: 106–48 St. Louis Cardinals (Won WS) 104–50 Brooklyn Dodgers (2nd in NL) 103–51 New York Yankees (Lost WS)
1977: 102–60 Kansas City Royals (Lost ALCS) 101–61 Philadelphia Phillies (Lost NCLS) 100–62 New York Yankees (Won WS)
1998: 114–48 New York Yankees (Won WS) 106–56 Atlanta Braves (Lost NLCS) 102–60 Houston Astros (Lost NLDS)
2002: 103–58 New York Yankees (Lost ALDS) 103–59 Oakland Athletics (Lost ALDS) 101–59 Atlanta Braves (Lost NLDS)
2003: 101–61 New York Yankees (Lost WS) 101–61 Atlanta Braves (Lost NLDS) 100–61 San Francisco Giants (Lost NLDS)

I agree, and I'd love to see him on the roster. I have no problem keeping Almonte off the roster. Chisenhall contributed a ton early in the season to where we are now, hard not to keep him on the roster.

Watching Naquin against the Twins in the final Twins' game-he really misplayed the triple ball.

Almonte is a better defender than Allen. Then why since Zimmer went down and Allen has been available, has Francona always either started Allen in CF or has been a late inning defensive replacement in CF?

because Allen was a September call-up? maybe Francona disagrees with me, i dunno
and i love Allen, but that's just my opinion
why is Almonte on the roster if not to be a defensive replacement? he is not a good steals guy and he is not a premium bat, especially if Kipnis and Chis become the super-utility guys because i can't see Kipnis as our CF in the playoffs...i gotta think it is going to be Almonte or Jackson
if Allen starts then great, i'm not a huge Almonte apologist, i just thinks he gets better reads on the ball and has a better arm

as long as Naquin isn't in CF i'm happy, heck i think even i would take Kipnis over him haha

It's due 8/31 at midnight. IF Almonte is going to be on the playoff roster and playing a lot, don't you think Francona would have him in there more than once a week? Jackson not only is a lock to be on the playoff roster, he'd a lock to be in the 2 hole against lefties AND right handers. Unless Chis is healthy enough to play on a regular basis. IF Allen wasn't going to be on the roster then Jackson would be moving to CF when Kipnis has been taken out. I really like how Kipnis has been hitting the ball now that he's been playing for a week. The strange thing is, when was the last time McCalister pitched? My recollection is that it's been more than a week. He might not make the roster since Salazar and Clevenger, who only gave up 1 earned run in his last 6 starts, have looked good pitching out of the bullpen. Starting to look like one fewer bullpen guy and one more outfielder on the roster, both Almonte and Allen, until or if Brantley can play.

i don't think Almonte will play a lot, but if they are up late and need a defensive replacement in CF/OF then i think Almonte is the guy
Jackson has had a really good year and i think he would probably get the nod to start. Chis/Kipnis in Left, Jackson in Center, Bruce in Right. I would think Allen would be the first pinch-runner option and Almonte would be the defensive sub.
Still makes more sense to me to play Kipnis in Left if he is going to play the OF at all. Center make no sense, not when you can stick Jackson or Almonte out there. Kipnis doesn't have the range or the arm, at least that is my opinion. Wish him the best if does end up out there, and i pray the ball doesn't find him.

Tonight's 10-1 win puts the 2017 Indians into 2nd place for most wins in franchise history and also drops the AL #1 seed magic number to 1
Houston beat Boston again tonight to get their 100th win. Interesting that those two are playing each other in a 4 game series to end the year when they will most likely be playing in the ALDS. They could potentially play 9 straight games.

Cleveland is the first team in history to have 3 starters with at least 17 wins and at least 195 strikeouts.

32-3 in their last 35 games. Insanity. What's really insane is that Perez and Gomes have combined for 20 home runs and 96 RBIs. Another who'd have thunk it....Jackson has the highest batting average, highest on base %, 5th highest slugging% and 4th highest OPS on the team and he only has 7 home runs.

Now we root for the Dodgers to lose in the NCS. Then the Indians gain home field advantage in the World Series.

Lindor is the only player in baseball this year with more than 40 doubles, more than 30 home runs and more than 10 stolen bases.

The Indians did okay against lefties this season...beating C. Sale in Boston for example. I'm sure someone has the tribe vs. lefthanders record for this year.

Mickey Calloway did an incredible job with the Indians pitching staff and wish him the best of luck and success with the Mets. It will be interesting who Francona and the owners come up with as his replacement.
